Carpentry can be a very dangerous occupation. Carpenters work everywhere: from being suspended high in the air - held by only a wire or cable - on skyscrapers, to houses in an everyday neighborhood, or even in a hospital, close to patients and diseases that could be potentially life threatening. Carpenters work in hazardous - and even deadly - work environments, but if not for them we would not be living or attending some the finest home and buildings ever created. I will provide information ranging from pay and education, to the description of what they do on the job, all the way to the outlook for the future of carpentry. While also giving information about their work environment and where jobs are most prone in the field.

Luckily, occupational outlook handbook had the answer, “The most average pay or median pay per year is The median annual wage for carpenters was $40,820 in May 2014.” (Occupational outlook handbook paragraph. 1). It also had answers for the lowest and highest possible salaries this what they had to say, “The lowest 10 percent earned less than $25,640, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $74,750.” (Occupational outlook handbook paragraph. 1). I asked my mentor why he decided to join this field he said,” it was good money if you know what you're doing and i was able to” (Mentor interview question. 8). In reality carpenters are not the best paying job but it is a very good and suitable way of life with minimal training; so you can find a job and become employed rather easily. Though there is many different specializations within carpentry they all have a common purpose and job that connects them to one particular worksite. Most carpenter only make approximately between 30 percent and 50 percent what the normal fully trained carpenter makes. Although most carpenters work full or part time depending on the project on contract they are working on or with. Occupational handbook also did a study that provided this information, “About 1 in 3 carpenters were self-employed in 2014. Self-employed workers often work in residential construction and may be able to set their own schedule.” (Occupational outlook handbook paragraph. 4). The best area for a job that involves carpentry is within the northeast, such as New York and Virginia; because the job demand within that part of the United States is so high because of the main and overall urban growth within the cites. The need for those who can help expand and create new buildings for businesses within that area range from anywhere of ,”13,500 all the way to 75,000 in May of 2014” according to
