Carly Fiorina
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience of Carly Fiorina and her accomplishments in life.
Introduction
I. Being a woman in the workplace is always tough, you never know if you will get the respect that you deserve, and if you will be treated with the same admiration as your male colleagues. Carly Fiorina is a great example of this; she broke the mold of women rising to the top in the workplace. In 1998 she was named for the number one spot of “The Fifty Most Powerful Women in Business.”
II. I am going to be talking about Carly Fiorina and the accomplishments she has made in her life. Carly is a former CEO and currently an American Republican politician for the 2016 presidential election.
III. I had never

She spent a few years as a commentator on Fox News, and then went on to help with Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign in 2008, but in 2009 she decided to run for senate. On the same year she ran for senate, Fiorina was diagnosed with breast cancer, she went on to take chemotherapy and have a double mastectomy. Also in the same year she lost her stepdaughter to overdose. Through all of this she still managed to campaign while going through chemotherapy, and won the Republican primary in 2010, but lost to Barbara Boxer.
B. Carly decided to announce her candidacy for president on May 4, 2015, and stayed loyal to the Republican Party.
(Transition: After discussing some of Carly Fiorina’s struggles in life, I will talk a little into her 2016 presidential campaign.)
III. Fiorina was initially seen as an underdog with no political experience in office, but she emerged as a frontrunner for the republican nomination. She won the Republican debate and was number two behind Donald Trump, and established candidates like Jeb Bush. A. Unfortunately in recent polls, like from the Wall Street Journal, has her at 7%, running behind the much-defamed Jeb Bush (The Wall Street Journal.com). This could be due to the fact that there has not been a Republican Debate for more than a month, because of the fact that almost every debate Fiorina has been in she has been the ultimately winner.
The oldest currently serving US Senator, Dianne Feinstein, has done her share of leading our Senators and fighting to keep our country safe and free of crime. Feinstein is a member of the Democratic Party, as well as the former thirty-eighth mayor of San Francisco. Eight years after being elected into the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1970, Feinstein served as the board’s first female president. The assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk caused Feinstein to succeed as mayor of San Francisco in 1978. While Feinstein served as San Francisco’s first female mayor she renovated the cable car system and oversaw the 1984 Democratic National Convention.
Sen. Patty Murray had an easy 54-46 percent win in 1992, but remains a top Republican target. The challenger, Rep. Linda Smith (Rep.), has gathered an army of grass-roots supporters who favor her pro-life and anti-tax record. Recent polling suggests that moderate Rep...
...being one of the most powerful women in politics and represented Denver in 1997. People looked up to her as she represented women’s positions in politics, child care programs, and fought to decrease the spending limits that were set for defense installations (Abbott, Leonard, Noel, pp. 480, 2013).
To summarize this analysis, Hillary Clinton shows us how as we unite, the stronger our bond is. She uses clever ways to show this action. Though she did not win this presidential election, she is still loved by many. She helped herself because of the way she wrote and persuaded people to join her. Using rhetorical appeals
They need to be great public speakers, honest, powerful, persuasive, and respectful. Most importantly though, they need to be able to lead their country through the specific problems facing them now. She believes that everyone is equal and should also have equal opportunities. She stated that "Until we get equality in education, we won't have an equal society."
I am choosing to write my essay focusing on Nancy Pelosi, arguably one of the most influential politicians of her time, and certainly one of the outstanding ladies of the political world. Not only was she the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House, she also was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame at Seneca Falls. She ranks with the most consequential speakers, certainly in the last 75 years.”(Burstyn) Nancy Pelosi was born on March 26th in 1940 and she has represented San Francisco for approximately 29 years. This however is not by far her most notable achievement, speaker of the house aside, under her guidance the 111th US Congress was said to be the most productive in the history of its conception. This means that she was able to oversee the 111th Congress in a manner that minimized the terrible three, collective action problems, commitment problems, and coordination problems. These problems all come down to the inability to make decisions, and are extremely ponderous to efficiency. She ran it as famously, even though the house was so divided when she took the pos...
The goal of Hillary’s speech is to persuade her audience that her ideas are valid, by using ethos, pathos, and logos. Hillary is the First Lady and Senator, she shows credibility as an influential activist for woman rights. “Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a half years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing women in my country and around the world” (Clinton 2).
Overall, Hillary Rodham Clinton gave a convincing speech on women’s rights at the U.N. World Conference by using the key rhetorical techniques ethos, pathos, logos, and anaphora’s. The use of these techniques helped the audience believe in the cause of which Clinton was speaking about, sympathize for situations females were being put through, and working to strive towards equal rights for everyone. Clinton used the same stance throughout her speech and raised her voice at points in her speech that needed

In 2010 Republicans had an unusual opportunity to win the deep-blue Delaware Senate seat once held by Joe Biden. The vessel: GOP Rep. Mike Castle, a popular former governor and the front-runner. Enter Ms. O’Donnell. Fueled by tea-party enthusiasm and money, she trashed Mr. Castle as a liberal and beat him in the primary. After a general election that devolved into debates over gay service members, religion, creationism (and even witchcraft), Democrat Chris Coons blew out Ms. O’Donnell by 17 points.
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen has been a great defender of human rights. She is a hard worker who works on multiple issues that matter to her. She had pushed for programs that address very serious problems. Domestic violence is a terrible problem and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen has worked hard to protect women in violent situations. She fought for the Violence Against Women Act, that increases resources used towards the end of domestic violence and sexual assault cases. With all the horrible things happening to women in the world, she has been motivated to help all women no matter their
"It's very dangerous when we have people in positions of leadership who use their power to try to quiet those who disagree with them” (Chasmar). Tulsi Gabbard, the Representative for Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District and former Vice Chair of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), refers to the DNC’s actions earlier this year that favored Secretary Hillary Clinton in her primary campaign. Gabbard, a hero veteran, resigned from her position as vice chair of the DNC after witnessing injustice in the heart of the Democratic Party. The head of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, held only six debates during the primary season, a small number compared to other election years when there were 15, or even 26, debates between candidates. Some commentators connect Wasserman’s position as the co-chair of
The world of Politics and the Presidential election has definitely changed since the last elections were held. On the Democratic side, there is Bernie Sanders, an old man who just wants to make the country better, and Hillary Clinton, who wants to prove that women can do anything that men can. On the Republican side, there is Donald Trump, who does not have a single clue on how politics work, a number of other candidates who are somewhat decent, and Ted Cruz, the candidate that almost everyone hates. Gail Collins has been a columnist for the New York Times since 1995 and was also the first female editorial page editor. Gail Collins has been following the political race for the presidency since day one, updating her audiences on things like the movements of Donald Trump and the level of hatefulness for Ted Cruz.
...nfusion of her people to pass bills and laws that would otherwise not be passed.
I choose to research Hillary Clinton because I admire the drive and passion she puts into her work. She is a unique global leader whose activism has promoted social change around the world. Warren Bennis, author of On Becoming a Leader author says that, “…true leaders are not born, but made, and they are usually self-made (Bennis, p. 35, 2009).” Hillary is a prominent example of a self-made leader. She invented herself as a public figure through her dedication to human rights and equality. Over the last three decades she has gained the respect and admiration of people around the world. She has spent a career working towards improving people's lives.
