This means that private companies that sell goods or services have accountants to keep track of the money in their business that personally work for their business, instead of hiring a firm. The pay may not be as good as a public firm and some accountants complain at the monotony of the job, but a job with a private corporation provides the stability of normal hours and the chance to learn to do a variety of different tasks within a company. Another alternative option to going public is going into government work. This means working for the government in some capacity. The cons of working for the government include a lower starting salary and the possibility of having to move frequently to where an accountant is needed. However, the benefits are very good and the satisfaction of helping the government is in its own way rewarding. Working for a nonprofit is also an option for an accountant. The pay and benefits are less, but the reward of knowing that the work makes a difference is a large benefit of working for a nonprofit. There are many options for accountants in today’s job market, and every opportunity to find a job that meets everyone’s

My personality and personal experiences have helped me to decide upon accounting as my chosen major. Before I immigrated to the United States in 2010, I had a small business in China for more than nine years. This experience and my desire to be an entrepreneur taught me the importance of accounting. In order to manage my business well, I attended a course in basic accounting at a local training institute. While in training, I learned that I loved working with numbers and applying financial analysis to economic issues. I have a passion for finance, economic issues, accounting principles, and the world of business and this has guided me to pursue an accounting major.
During part three of the CRP, it was required of us to create a MyPlan account and to take several assessments to get an idea of our personality, skills and interests. As a result, MyPlan would provide suggested career paths to choose from starting with the most relevant. When I looked at my career paths that MyPlan suggested, it was no surprise to me to find that accounting was at the top of the list with the second option being an actuary. Some of the personality traits required to be an effective accountant include having a logical and analytical mind, being attentive to detail, and high moral and work ethics. These are traits that I possess and have been able to strengthen over time.
In the case of a private accountant the end of climbing the professional pyramid is at becoming the chief financial officer (CFO). Within a company, this is the most prominent position for a person of an accounting background and field. Prior to becoming a CFO, the private accountant must tackle the positions of control such as assistant controller and controlee. At the achievement of becoming a CFO, the accountant would take on the same responsibilities it once held but to a higher level. It is expected to take control of the companies’ entirety of accounting functions. For a private accountant to reach the level of CFO is quite an accomplishment, but this position bestowed by a small, low-key company does not appear as well on paper as the accomplishment of a public accountant who made a name for themselves.

Thus, I am professionally and academically motivated to earn a Master’s degree of Accounting at the Broad Business College.
Change is inevitable. Yogi Berra once said “The future ain’t what it used to be.” It is clear that the future of the accounting profession ain’t what it used to be (Gormon and Hargadon 1). The changes occurring are happening fast, they are dynamic and they are completely and undeniably real. Since the world around the accountant is changing, the accountant has no option but to change as well. The field of accounting has always been one to know change and to know adjustment, but within the recent past and certainly within the next few decades, the changes that are occurring and will occur absolutely are the most dramatic and exponential yet. Obvious changes lie in the expanding scope of services performed by accountants, the increased use of
