Within this lab project our group have become very comfortable with working with the cameras, specifically learning how to setup, and shoot at the proper camera focuses. This project specifically gave us an understanding of perfect exposure, over exposed and under exposed images. Adjusting the exposure time/shutter speed gives us a larger range of depth (range) rather then adjusting the f-number (f-Stop). The f-number adjusts the length of the lens compared to the diameter of the entrance of the lens. Giving us a wider range to adjust makes the camera shots easier as its faster to find perfect exposure for your image. Taking a look at our group of photos, we can see that we have an underexposed, an overexposed and one in perfect exposure. The shutter on the camera is adjusted to the length of time it stays open for within the cameras exposure settings. Doing this allows the sensor within the camera to be exposed to more or less light.
Our copy shot images have three different exposure times giving us the above three exposure types. The first image being our underexposed image our set exposure time is 1/60 (1/60 of a second, with an f-number of

Our underexposed image was adjusted too low making our shutter time very fast not providing enough light in. The exposure time was 1/30 (1/30 of a second, with an f-number of f16). Within the lighting of our portrait shots, we can see that the camera needed to be adjusted, to provide a bit lighter in to take the perfect photo at perfect exposure. When adjusting the shutter speed to find perfect exposure, our group then took our next photo in overexposure. The exposure time was 1/8 (1/8 of a second, with an f-number of f16). This allowed for too much light into the camera making our image to bright. When toning down our shutter speed we were able to reach proper speed to provide enough lighting at a shutter speed of 1/15 (1/15 of a second, with an f-number of
Absorbance was defined as: log I_o/I where I_o is incident light and I is the transmitted light. Fluorescence emission spectrum is different from fluorescence excitation spectrum because it records different wavelengths of chemical s...
“There is in fact no such thing as an instantaneous photograph. All photographs are time exposures, of shorter or longer duration, and each describes a discrete parcel of time.” -John Szarkowski Photography consists of a tracing of time; the duration of the photograph’s exposure time determines the resulting image. Photography is fundamentally a time-based medium.
In his documentary Classified X, Martin Van Peebles describes three areas where African-Americans could be receive some sanctuary from the racism that pervaded almost all Hollywood films. These three places were: the Hollywood version of an all-Black film, the church, and entertainment. Black culture and music is prominent in mainstream society, but the people behind this culture don’t always receive recognition and respect for their creations. Mainstream White pop culture excitedly consumes and appropriates Black culture, but disrespects the source.
First there is the powerful use of lighting to give off different moods and tones. For example, in Edward Scissorhands, the town is all bright and sunshines, but then you see the dark castle off in the far distance. The low key lighting of the castle makes it presents a dark and mysterious mood. So when Kim’s mother goes to do her sales it keeps the viewer on their toes, scared of what the dark place may hold. Another example is from the movie, “Charlie and the Chocolate factory”. When Charlie and the others first head inside the factory, they are in a room with moderate light, nothing too special. However when he enters the next room, he is exposed to a high lit place of wonder. The incredible lighting showed every detail, also giving it a happy and stunning mood. Finally, in the movie “Big Fish”, Burton uses a high key lighting

Spotlight dramatizes the documentary of how a leading news source, The Boston Globe, unveiled the outrageous wrongdoing of child molestation and hidden secrets under the local Catholic Church (Spotlight). It is a movie of power that makes the viewer experience the anger and pressure the reporters are feeling while trying to investigate what really happened in the Catholic Church (Spotlight). The investigation of one of the most profound institutions causes quite an uproar in the city of Boston. Directed by Tom McCarthy the 2015 drama film, Spotlight, will make you question the Catholic Church and the top lawyers in the state of Massachusetts (Spotlight). This film captures the positive and negative power of the press, the impact of The Boston
The porpoise of these is to determine the Specific Heat. Also known as Heat Capacity, the specific heat is the amount of the Heat Per Unit mass required to raise the temperature by one degree Celsius. The relationship between heat and temperature changed is usually expected in the form shown. The relationship does not apply if a phase change is encountered because the heat added or removed during a phase change does not change the temperature.
Photonics Lab Introduction In the world of communication, lasers can be very helpful in transporting a variety of information across the planet. In this experiment, we decided to advance our knowledge about lasers and perform more tedious activities with them. Instead of shooting lasers through a gelatin substance and reading angles in which they reflect, we were going to step it up a bit. This time, our final goal was to be able to verbally communicate through space using a laser. Photonics is described as science and technology based on and concerned with the flow of electrons.
As you can see, there is a big world waiting for you to capture and mold its image. Whether you just want to remember that sunset on your honeymoon, your little one’s first steps or even if you click your shutter at everything you pass… the right equipment certainly helps. Whatever equipment you use, with good lighting and attention to such details as film type and speed, distance from subject, rule of thirds, and an eye for what you want, you can make beautiful photos that you and yours will cherish for generations to come.
When going for a walk, a person takes in the beauty around them. On this particular day, the refulgent sun is extra bright, making the sky a perfect blue. White, puffy clouds fill the sky, slowing moving at their own pace. The wind is peacefully calm, making the trees stand tall and proud. There is no humidity in the air. As this person walks down the road, they see a deer with her two fawns. The moment is absolutely beautiful. Moments like this happen only once in a great while, making us wanting to stay in the particular moment forever. Unfortunately, time moves on, but only if there were some way to capture the day’s magnificence. Thanks to Joseph Niépce, we can now capture these moments and others that take our breath away. The invention of the camera and its many makeovers has changed the art of photography.
The landscape of professional photography has changed dramatically, in some cases for the good and in some cases for the bad. I have been a pro photographer for nearly 40 years and have seen many changes. When I started in photography believe it or not I used a 4x5 view camera, yes that meant going under the cloth to focus, oh my! We then went to 2 1/4 cameras and now to Digital capture. I was one of the first to go completely Digital in the New England area and for the most part I was happy to go this route because when I did, it was not so bad with pro equipment blowing away any of the consumer based products. Jump ahead to today, the consumer has access to cameras that give outstanding quality for a low price and that brings us to the phrase
This shown throughout the short film but as it gets more intense the lighting get more and more gloomier. There is more lighting to show darkness behind the characters to give it that extra effect of the surroundings but the lighting on the faces were the key impact when watching the short film because you can see all the sweat trickling down the faces and the reactions through there facial expressions. This shows the viewers how dramatic the short film and how horrifying it would be to be in there shoes. The purpose of the underexposure lighting was to focus more on the characters while the surroundings were still creepy and dark. It was very successful because it made me stay hooked in for the whole short

What do you consider art? Paintings, sculptures, drawings, or maybe something else. I know, when I think of art, I think of photography. Photography Is used for business, science, manufacturing, art, recreational purposes, mass communication, and more. Photography is using light to do amazing things, and some people think of photography as a story that just needs to be told. Ansel Adams probably believed this. He said, “You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” Photography has a long interesting history, like the fact that the word photography is made up of two greek words, photos meaning ‘light’ and graphein which is ‘to draw’ ! Photography also has some complicated techniques to get a hang of taking good photos. Have you heard of the rule of thirds? Or do you know how a camera works? Well, that will all be explained. Maybe, by the end you will take up photography too. This essay will explore the history and types of cameras and the basic rules for taking photographs.
