CRT Monitors vs. LCD Monitors
The monitor is likely the most important part of the computer. Without it, you would have no idea what you were doing. Imagine trying to write a term paper, or surf the Internet without one. It would be impossible. While the technology powering the displays doesn’t change as fast as it does for other parts of the computer, there are advances which provide consumers with many choices for displays. Today, the most popular displays come in two types, Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) and Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs). CRTs have been around longer, and are the most common due to the fact that they are cheaper. However the convenient size of LCDs along with falling prices has made them a popular choice as of late. This paper will examine the similarities and differences of the two, and try to determine if one is better than the other.
The CRT monitors work in a fashion similar to that of standard television sets. An electron gun is mounted at the back of the monitor. The gun fires a steam of electrons in a sweeping motion towards the front of the monitor. The electrons then pass through either an aperture grille, or a shadow mask. These items work to filter the electrons into focused beams onto the front plate. The grill does this via thin vertical wires, while the mask does this with a series of small holes. After passing through the filter, the electrons collide with the screen. The screen is covered with a serried of red, green and yellow phosphors that light up when hit by the electrons. By combining different intensities of the three colors, many different colors and images can be created.

After examining the two types of monitors, it seems that they are similar in more aspects than they are different. Over the last few years LCD screens have closed the gap in many of the categories in which the CRT was superior. In most cases, the choice depends on the personal preference of the individual user. For the hard-core gamer or digital artist a CRT may be slightly better due to the faster response time and better color purity. For most consumers the choice of an LCD or CRT monitor will depend on the price issue. While the cost of LCD screens has been declining over the past few years, they are still considerably more expensive that a comparable CRT. However if money isn’t an issue, a slim and sleek looking LCD might be the way to go over the massive CRT behemoths.
This is a written report where my partner on the topic and I presented a ten minute oral summary of our chosen research topic on Technicolor. We chose Technicolor as we felt it had most to say to us, threw the progression of the technology the problems threw out the years of perfecting the technology, to the ultimate glory of the Technicolor experience.
The oldest form of oscilloscope, still used in some labs today, is known as the cathode-ray oscilloscope. It produces an image by the focused electron beam to travel in patterns across the face of cathode ray tube (CRT). More modern oscilloscopes electronically replicate the action of the CRT using a liquid crystal display (liquid crystal display) like the one that can be found on notebook computers screen.
The Continental Congress created the Articles of confederation which was the first constitution of United states on November 15, 1777 and was written during the time of Revolutionary War. Article of Confederation main purpose was to give some colonies sense of unified government. It was the plan to make all the 13 states unified and strong so that these new nation can act together to become a new and powerful nation. They wanted to create a new system that helps to run the government smoothly. They had the belief that the new Constitution will make their government powerful enough to defeat Great Britain. According to Martin, C. (2011) the consumers have already experienced the first and second screen revolutions in the past decades and are now in the middle of the third screen revolution.
After gaining its independence from England the United States, required a government. The first attempt to create a national government led to the formation of the Articles of Confederation. Though short-lived, the Articles of Confederation marked an important step in the formation of the US government. The Articles of Confederation were ratified by the states in 1781 after approval by Congress in 1777 (Johnson, 2003). The main objective of the Articles of Confederation was to unite different states and form a common national government (Johnson, 2003). As a result of their formation, the Articles set up a confederation which gave more power to the states. However, the Articles of Confederation were perceived to be weak and lacked the required power to run the country effectively. As a result, problems arose which led to the development of the New Constitution in 1787 which advocated for a government with more unity and power.
Because of this, many Americans were originally hesitant to have any central government, as it could become too powerful. However, people later agreed that some sort of an organizational force was required to keep the states organized. A Committee of Thirteen wrote what would become the Articles of Confederation on June 12, 1776. Under the Articles, a relatively weak government that had limited powers was established. Each state had one vote in the new Confederation Congress. The Confederation Congress had the power to make coins, borrow money, negotiate with other countries, make treaties with other countries, settle interstate conflicts, and it could ask the states for taxes and troops. In the short term, the Articles of Confederation served its purpose, but soon it began to fall
When the United States of America came about, the colonies adopt the Articles of Confederation. These articles function for a while but the federal government has little power. In fear of revolts and riots, the government decides to revise the articles. However, since the articles give too much authority to the states, the editors start over and create the Constitution. The Articles of Confederation provide a starting place for America’s government.

Music training can help increase your working memory as well as auditory learning. (Strickland). Music training can help flex a high-working memory load. It helps expand your working memory capacity, and therefore reduces impairing effects of a memory overload (Klemm). In today’s society, people are constantly looking for new ways to have students produce more from their public education. Some argue that more funding is the answer, while others say that better learning facilities will help. Studies recently conducted show that a simple change in the curriculum will produce the outcome that people are searching for. The simple change is music education. Music education has been shown to improve general academic skills as well as social skills in children. If music classes are added to a child’s schedule, they will begin to show an increase in learning that educators are looking for. Get rid of the ideas of more funding and better facilities, all the students need is a simple music course in their everyday lives.
Some systems use a conventional computer monitor to display the visual world. This sometimes called Desktop VR or a Window on a World (WoW). This concept traces its lineage back through the entire history of computer graphics. In 1965, Ivan Sutherland laid out a research program for computer graphics in a paper called "The Ultimate Display" that has driven the field for the past nearly thirty years.

As x-rays exit the patient, they interact with a cesium iodide input phosphor which converts the x-ray energy into visible light. Cesium iodide crystals are a tightly packed layer of linear needles which help improve spatial resolution by allowing little light dispersion. Attached to the input phosphor is the photocathode. Bushong describes the photocathode as, “a thin metal layer usually composed of cesium and antinomy compounds that respond to stimulation of input phosphor light by the emission of electrons.” (Bushong, 2013, p. 405). This phenomenon of electron emission following light stimulation is called photoemission. The emission of just one electron through photoemission is dependent upon numerous light photons. The amount of electrons produced by the photocathode is directly proportional to how much light reaches it from the input phosphor, which is directly proportional to the intensity of the initial x-ray beam. These electrons will be accelerated to the anode where they will pass through a small hole to the output phosphor.
