relationship is the Blue Heron Nature Center in Ridgeland, SC. On our first Christmas together, we went to walk along the nature trail at the nature center, to look at the Christmas lights that the city puts up each year. We had been down this trail a few times before, but this time was special. A little past halfway through the trail, there is another path that leads to a deck over a pond. This trail is not decorated, but we walked down there anyway. We ended up dancing on the deck, the music from the other side of the center faintly playing. That is one of my favorite memories with him, because it was such an innocent, sweet moment, which truly is a great example of what the beginning of a relationship is like. I truly love him so much, in …show more content…
The specific lines I will be using from this song are, “Oh, with all that I've done wrong I must have done something right. To deserve her love every morning and butterfly kisses. I couldn't ask God for more, man this is what love is.” (Bob.) The song is about the relationship between a father and a daughter, and the gratitude that they each have for being able to be a part of each other’s lives. Bob Carlisle wrote this song for his daughter Brooke before her sixteenth birthday, but it has become symbolic of a very special relationship for people all over the world (Cummings, Tony). This song, for me, is representative of Alaska. My dad lived in Alaska for 2 years, and it has always been a place that I have wanted to go with him. My dad means the world to me. He has always been there for me, and now that I am older, I do my best to take care of him and be there for him. My dad was my first example of what a true gentleman is, and has always set an amazing example for me. My relationship with him has showed me what love is, and I know that I am extremely blessed to have him in my life. He is extremely hard working, and deserves so much more than he gets. I know I am the luckiest girl in the world, because I got the best father that anyone could ask for. That is why I hope to be able to take him to Alaska one day, and hear even more about his time
The text begins with the speaker musing about how her lineage is related to that of an album cover with one solid identity. In an album, each song forms an idea that is encapsulated in a large pool of its sister tracks to form one singular unit containing an idea or focus. By referring to her family as an album, Harper has directly stated that her family is deeply connected. Above the poem is the subtitle “for my father,” which means that Harper’s message is connected to her father the most. This metaphor strikes even further into the
Although the lyrics have nothing to do with what I feel for this song (it is a romantic song), this was a song that I heard throughout my childhood and it became a big part of my life since then. 2.
The definition of a good father is as individual as the individuals involved themselves. A good father is able to support his children’s strengths, along with being able to help them overcome their weaknesses. He is able to do this without appearing to be a know-it-all. The ability to show by example how to live life, while not being afraid to make mistakes and not to be perfect all the time are also very important characteristic.
trauma can have on someone, even in adulthood. The speaker of the poem invokes sadness and
The song I’ve chosen for this assignment is Old Friends by the band Pinegrove. This is a charming alt-rock song about remembering old connections, and holding on to the new ones. In the song singer Evan Stephens Hall realizes he doesn’t make enough time for the people he really cares about when a friend of his passes away. Although I may not be able to relate to the song completely, I can definitely relate to the overall message the band is trying to get across, specifically in a few lines. “I kept saying I wanted to see you/ Saying, ‘What’s wrong with that?’
He is the type of person that makes me very proud to say that he is my father, and the type of father that I am most fortunate to have. My father and I have always been very close. He is both loving and caring and the type of person that always puts his family first.
"Harlem" was written by Langsatn Hughes. This poem is focusing on the American-African neighborhood "Harlem" in New York City in mid-twenties while the society was filling with discriminations and racism. "My Father as A Guitar" was written by Martin Espada. In the poem, the speaker is comparing his father, who has a heart problem, with a guitar. "Charon 's Cosmology" was written by Charles Simic in 1977. This poem is mainly about a ferryman, whose job is to transfer souls of dead. These three poems have different themes, however, the speaker all used some literary devices to express their thoughts to readers.
My father was always there for me, whether I wanted him to be or not. Most of the time, as an adolescent trying to claim my independence, I saw this as a problem. Looking back I now realize it was a problem every child needs, having a loving father. As hard as I tried to fight it, my dad instilled in me the good values and work ethic to be an honest and responsible member of society. He taught me how to be a good husband. He taught me how to be a good father. He taught me how to be a man. It has been 18 years since my father’s death, and I am still learning from the memories I have of him.
The poem, “Elegy for My Father” tells the story about the circumstances of Meena Alexander’s father being dead. This is the sole inspiration for this poem, it uses countless poetic features and descriptive detail to make it clear and precise. Meena Alexander effectively uses a variety of poetic features, including imagery, sound, and length to make this piece stand out from other pieces similar to it.
A father is the first man that a girl loves, and never forgets. My dad has taught me life’s most important lessons, and always protects me from the harm and negativity from the world. I chose the song “Daddy’s Lessons” by Beyonce, because her song’s theme is about the lessons he taught her while she was growing up. By seeing the way that my dad has gotten back up after being knocked down countless number of times, “he taught me to be strong” (line 27). Even though my dad may not realize this, he is the reason why I am willing to take chances in life. In 2008, my family was going through a rough time financially, when our family business was failing, but my dad did not mourn over the losses or mistakes, but rather attempted to make things better.
Lee can remember that his father was at one time a part of this musical sharing as a way to either show love and affection or to help calm Lee when he was a child. In the following stanzas, Lee is still a young child who wishes he knew of the places that were his father's favorite. This is powerful because it shows us that maybe these places are not places the family will visit because of the memories or how his father enjoyed the little things in life and being in the elements living life for how it is. In the next stanza, Lee shows us that even though he has never been able to experience these places for himself he loves to hear their memories of it, and how one should enjoy the simple things in life.
Growing up learning how to be like my old man (Zac Brown, lines 3-6) These lines are about how Zac’s dad was his role model and like anyone does
Years ago, a long time before somebody wrote the song, I read a story about a boy who had caused his parents a lot of heartache. He had done just about everything possible to bring grief to the hearts of his mother and his father. Finally, he left home and moved from one place to another until he was a great distance from home. For several years he lived a rebellious and low life.
My dad is always happy to help. He always has time to assist me with whatever I need. Sometimes when I don't comprehend a certain thing on my homework, he works through the problem with me until I fully understand how to solve it myself. He is very inquisitive and is always showing me diverse ways to solve my problems If I have to do chores around the house, he is always the first one I call. He and I work together as a team and finish them. Also, I speak two languages, so it is a little hard when I am talking to my parents to not get the two mixed up. Luckily, my dad helps me by correcting me if I mispronounce a word or phrase and reminds every time I make that same mistake so it sticks in my head forever. That way when I'm talking to my grandparents or other family members, I know how to speak properly.
I always think to myself, “What would I do if I didn’t have a father like him?” I think about it and then I say, “I would be in the cracks, not doing anything because there is no one here to keep me going and to keep me motivated.” My dad is an amazing cool person to me because he shows me that no matter what struggles he faces in his life or what happens to him, he always gets out of them and he has me and my mom to help him.
