What is bullying?
Bullying is repeated behaviour that is consciously and purposely done to harm or intimidate one’s victim. It is generally done to achieve submission and power over the person being bullied. This aggressive behaviour can cause many different problems varying from discomfort to self-esteem issues. Bullying is variation of different behaviour, such as physical, emotional and verbal bullying. According to the little boy Daniel in the book ‘What’s Happening? Bullying?’ describes bullying ‘as not an action but a feeling.’ (Anonymous, n.d.) (Anonymous, 2014) (Bryant-Mole, 1992)
What forms of bullying are there?
Physical bullying is when a victim of bullying is hurt or harmed; it also encompasses theft or damage to one’s property. This behaviour includes slapping, punching and kicking. It also includes a victim being shoved in to small spaces and thrown against objects, such as lockers and doors. (Anonymous, 2014) …show more content…

Some examples of this behaviour are undesired teasing, name-calling, fallacious rumours and incessant and/or dishonest gossiping about a specific person. (Anonymous, 2014)

Emotional bullying is occasionally referred to as relational aggression. This type of bullying is very easily concealed. According to Sherri Gordon it is a form of ‘social manipulation.’ When one is emotionally bullied their social standard is abused in attempt to make the saboteur’s social standard seem higher and to gain control over their victim. This bullying occurs when a person is repeatedly teased, overlooked, insulted and intentionally excluded from a friend group to spite and hurt this victim of bullying. (Gordon, 2011)
