"Wanting you back”
Don’t we all love a tragic love story? In the song “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars, you can feel his anguish by listening to the song its self and also by watching his music video. Bruno strays from his original upbeat songs and goes to the piano to play his mournful melody. This song of Bruno’s gives examples of how he wishes he would have treated a girl in the past better, so he could have her in the future. He also wishes her the best and tells her he hopes the next man can do all the things he should have done when he had the chance. Throughout the music video, Bruno uses many images that will rip your heart right out of your chest. For example, in the video it shows several different scenes where Bruno is screaming

He wants to hand over the last bit of pride he has. He portrays himself as more grown up now as he realizes how he did her wrong. I feel as though this is his last attempt to get the girl he loves back before she falls in love with another man. Bruno Mars uses very choppy sentences throughout this song. He repeats over and over again all the little things he did wrong and also the extra things he should have done right. You can feel his sorrow through his words. In fact, in the middle of singing Bruno runs out of words to say and mourns “oooh oooh ooh oh oh”. This lets you know how wounded he truly is. This is the only type of slang Bruno uses throughout this song. But, in my opinion this is one of the most important features of this song because it really draws the viewers in to feel as if they were Bruno. If you pick apart Bruno Mars’ song and video, you will find one or two personifications. One of the famous lines in this particular song is “my heart breaks a little when I hear your name”. This is one personification that is easy to spot, because we all know a heart cannot physically break. To me this personification reveals regret of him not doing the right things to keep his girl. So much regret that it “breaks his
She thinks that if she vandalizes his precious “souped-up four wheel drive” it will stop him from being unfaithful- to teach him a lesson. However, in “perfect” the thoughts haunt her mind as she realizes she serves no purpose to her boyfriend. “ I hear you talking 'bout her in your sleep”, she feels as if he’s distancing himself from her; as if he has lost the love he had for her; it can make any women feel defeated wondering what the other women is doing that has such of an effect on them. “I can taste her lipstick, it's like I'm kissing her, too”. She has reached a turning point in the relationship; she knows he is being unfaithful from the way he acts towards her, tasting her lipstick as she kisses him, when he says her name in his sleep. She knows he’s being unfaithful yet she still stays- she stays hoping he will change when he does not. While in “Before He Cheats” she does not stay another second to an unfaithful man; she leaves the relationship. Secondly, in “Before He Cheats” she keeps thinking about her ex, thinking back to the memories they had and insulting his new replacement how she is nothing like her and how she believes she is much more better than who he preferred to be with. “He’s
knew that she didn't love him, but still proceeded to commit the rest of his life to her. Consequently, a story of forbidden passion, hatred, and jealousy unfolds.
In this song one can tell that the singer is very sad and depressed about many things that have happened in his life and the love ones that have passed away. When he sings this lyric “My sweetest friend…. I will let you down” you can tell that it is about how his loved ones have passed on and he let

His memory of her is sweet and beautiful so that even without saying it, it is obvious that he was, and possibly is still, in love with her. He remembered the past and convinced himself that it could be like that once again. He became delusional with love, and was blinded by it.
Cole uses a slang that is being used in this generation to help people understand the message being expressed in the lyrics. This slang is mostly understood by the younger generation. His music falls in the genre of hip-hop and rap. Cole also uses expletive language to emphasize certain parts of his song.
This song talks a lot about the baggage of the past that people hold onto instead of letting it go. All that baggage is only going to end up hurting you more and more instead of helping you in any way possible. An example is the opening
The short story entitled "My Man Bovanne" was written by Toni Cade Bambara published in Gorilla, My Love (1972), a collection of Bambara's short stories. The piece is not at all lengthy but the content hits you like a ton of bricks. The subtle hints of ageism and racism are scattered about all of her writing. This story tells a fictional tale of a woman named Hazel Peoples and her tribulations dealing with a world that seems to have forgotten the importance of elders.
“Thinkin’ ‘Bout You” Poetry Analysis A person’s train of thought can go in any direction, however when something is bothering a person that same idea can circle through their mind. In the song “Thinkin’ ‘Bout You” by Frank Ocean, the speaker’s emotions are circling through his mind and depict how the speaker feels about the woman he loves. Ocean portrays the circling thoughts through the use of a relatable simile, understatement and the use of language. Ocean’s uses a relatable simile to explain his emotions. In the first stanza, the tragic tone is established: “...it usually doesn’t rain in Southern California much like Arizona
In the song Drake talks about how your world can come crashing during a break up when he says, “When a good thing goes bad it’s not the end of the world/ It’s just the end of a world that you had with one girl” (Rapgenius, Doing It Wrong) Continuing the theme of heartbreak in his song “Missin You” he continues to express his heartache when he said, “Ya, and when she not by my side/ And I hear that she gone/ Now its like a shock to my pride/ I don’t care if she know/ Cuz that’s basically just a male ego” (Rapgenius, Missin You (Remix)) That stanza struck me the most because Drake is telling the listener that he doesn’t care if people knows how he feels about his ex girlfriend. He references the male ego and how it doesn’t allow a man to feel hurt if a girl leaves
After his defeat against Mike Tyson, Bruno felt defeated mentally and physically, which led to the breakup of his marriage. At that time, he was committed to the Essex Goodmayes Clinic for one month of treatment. Bruno’s struggle is ongoing, but his strong resolve to become mentally stronger, he continues boxing for fitness and for his mental wellbeing outside the professional arena. He, like Prince Harry, feels boxing is helping him and saved him from a lifetime in an institution.
Although the girl went to the extreme to show the young man who she could be, I think that if he truly did love her he would have been able to revert back to the way he saw her before. She was not the only one playing the game, he changed the way he treated her too, and she was able to switch back to the way she saw him and longed for him to love her again. When she showed him her metamorphic character, he fell out of love with her completely. I did not think this was fair to the girl, she saw an disfigured side of him and embarrassed her when she tried to end the
The man feels abandoned in a corner and he drinks for the sadness he feels. While drinking, he tells himself I do not understand why you left me, if I know she loved me, so if you ever regret your decision he will be waiting for you. Basically, the man feels broken emotionally because the women he loved, left him for no reason. This song to me is not a dancing song, however the song is more about remembering your ex-wife, ex-girlfriend or ex husband and ex-boyfriend. For me personally, this song reminds me of drinking, the title literally means bitter shots of liquor. The way the song shares the hurt the man feels by the women that left him. I could almost picture a man sitting at a bar drinking to his ex saying, “I’m drinking because of you, you caused this”. I could picture that scene in my head because I have seen my friends in Mexico and my cousins in Mexico do
“All of Me” is one of the few songs I liked when I first heard it. I was totally touched by the lyrics, rhythm and melody of the song and the voice of the singer as well. It is a piano ballad sung by John Legend, which dedicated to his newlywed wife Chrissy Teigen, and I think it is definitely one of the most beautiful and romantic love songs and a Valentine’s favorite song. It can be considered as a love letter that the John writes to his wife. The song describes the displays of affection and shows how much he loves his wife. Even sometimes she drives him nuts, he still loves every inch of her. Taking the good things with the bad is love of the most unconditional way.
Her cunning and manipulative ways has ultimately led to the destroying a man’s life that he has worked so hard to
