Recommended: Natural causes of plane crash

Brian is a thirteen year old boy who was in a plane crash. Although he did survive, he needs some supplies to help him live. If Brian found a survival bag, there would be ten items in it. First, the most important one, a Lifestraw water filter and a canteen to put the water in it. Brian had already tried to drink the water from the lake but got sick because it wasn't clean, therefore, with the water filter he can drink the water. The second item would be a Snow peak tent (one man tent) so he can sleep in it without worrying that something will come in the tent because it will be sealed shut and a sleeping bag to prevent him from being cold. Thirdly, he would need Off bug spray because in the book, he gets bitten by many bugs in his shelter.

Unfortunately, the radio dies, and the plane runs out of gas. I think this part of the story, is very unrealistic. If the plane were supposed to make it all the way to the destination, why would it suddenly run out of gas? Also, why would the radios suddenly become broken? He is put in a situation like the “Survivor” television show. He needs to find a way to survive, unlike on the show, by himself. He needed protection from the weather, so he built shelter. He lay on the bank of the lake for a while to rest. Brian knew he needed food and shelter to survive so he set out to find both. He was very careful not to get lost or go too far from the lake where his water was. He found a cherry tree and because he was very hungry, he ate his fill. He filled his windbreaker with cherries to eat later and then managed to find a cave for shelter. He slept very well, but in the morning when he awoke, he saw a bear in the cave. He was terrified, because the bear was only about 20 feet away eating his cherries out of his windbreaker. The bear only looked at Brian and then left. The cherries must have been enough to curb his appetite! The discovery of how to make a fire was very important to Brains survival. He needed to have one at the mouth of the cave to protect him from wild animals, and to signal for help.
