The movie I chose was “The Boys in the Boat” which tells the true story of a group of young men who enrolled to become a part of Washington’s Rowing Team. The story takes place during the height of the Great Depression in 1936, in which many Americans faced financial hardships. The protagonist, Joe Rantz, is a University student studying engineering at the University of Washington and he is finding it difficult to pay off his tuition fees. His best friend, Roger Morris, who faces a similar situation, finds a job ad on the school’s job board in regards to a rowing team, and the two friends enroll. That individual’s performance in accounting would most definitely be inferior to that of someone who has a passion for the subject. In my personal experience, I have observed similar situations. For example, when I was in high school, I found that I would perform worse in classes that I did not feel interested in as much, such as Physics and Accounting, in comparison to those that did intrigue me, such as English, Biology and History. In short, one would notice a difference in performance for a matter that someone is passionate about versus their performance in a matter that does not interest them as much, or at all. When one accomplishes and builds toward things that motivate them, you feel rewarded, thus giving a sense of fulfillment. The concept of passion circles right back to motivation, as our passions in this life are what also motivate us to become a better version of ourselves, to provide for the people we love. Motivation is a key concept that is displayed in the true film “The Boys in the Boat” as the protagonist, Joe Rantz, uses motivation to guide himself through the difficult events that take place throughout the duration of the
In the book Boys In the Boat, Daniel Brown tells the story of the U.S.’s rowing team’s Olympic journey to gold in 1936. The games were held in Berlin, right under Hitler’s eye. Though the games were held in Berlin that didn’t stop Joe Rantz, the book’s main character, and his team from going for gold. The boys had to show perseverance and teamwork to even be able to row. From country boys, to gold medal winners, rowing and hardships helped them embody the American spirit of hard work and teamwork. The boys had to overcome hardships, to work hard, and they never stopped being a team in order to win gold in Berlin.
Name of the movie that I selected was “Stranger in Good Company”. This movie was directed by Cynthia Scott and it was released at May 03, 1991(www.imdb.com). This movie is 105 minutes long and audience for this movie is mostly adults. I chose this movie because it is a heartwarming, slow paced reflection on life, the strong human spirit, and the meaning of true friendship when it occurs between strangers. In addition to that, this movie that show us the true unity, love, and individuality. This movie is related to the aging because almost all the actors are seniors and they truly bring their life memory to the movie. This movie shows us many sociological imagination, life course and diachronic vision that most of the older people have.

Being a woman in Afghanistan is extremely hard and challenging. Women face many hardships and restrictions compared to men during their lifetime. These hardships include women having a lack of education, Not allowed outside without being fully clothed head to toe and not being able to play a sport or step foot into a sporting center or club.
I had a different pursuit in careers in becoming an Accountant. The reason I wanted to pursue being an Accountant was for my love for math. Math was always my favorite subject, and I was excellent in it. Some teachers would even ask me to help others in the class that was struggling. At first, I did not take Accounting serious because I was still focused on wanting to play baseball. My goal of becoming an Accountant started because I not only stopped playing baseball, but ended my baseball career mentally in order to focus on my education. I had to make a choice, whether go to college only focusing on baseball and worry about student loans or go to a community college for free and focus on my education. I could see baseball would only get me so far, compared to receiving a higher education. My mom and grandparents helped make that decision, so I did not want to let them down by going after an unrealistic dream. On the other hand, since I was so good at math and it is an important skill to have an order to be an Accountant, setting that goal was an easy choice to
The film that I chose was My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The movie is a romantic comedy about a 30-year-old single woman Toula living in Chicago with her family. As a Greek girl, being raised by a very traditional Greek family she always wanted to be like the other girls instead of going to Greek School she wanted to attend traditional public school and eat American. She was looked down upon by her family because she was supposed to be married to a Greek man, have Greek children, and feed people, which she had not yet accomplished at 30. She was constantly made fun of by other females both Greek and non-Greek because of either the way certain things were pronounced, the foods she ate, or what was viewed as a cultural norm in society. Toula was fluent
The film I picked is "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly." I first saw this movie about five years ago while a senior in high school. I loved the movie, but now after watching it I took a closer look at the stereotypes and generalizations that are being depicted in various ways like language, names, landscapes and people. I picked this film because the movie is famous and very well known by Italians, Americans, and Hispanics, and not just famous in America Hollywood (and because I had list of required films I had to pick from). While watching the movie my second time around I tried and focus on the location where the movie takes place in order to demonstrate how lands of Mexico, New Mexico and Texas generalized. I also placed attention to the names the characters are given. There is a term used in Hollywood called little man wins' but after watching The Good, The Bad and The Ugly one observe how this cliché is not used.
I chose to watch the movie Jesus camp. The other movies didn’t sound as interesting as Jesus Camp. When I read the summery, I thought it would be a good fit since I like watching movies that have kids. I also went to a church camp when I was younger, so I thought it would be interesting to see what “Kids on Fire Church Camp” was compared to my church camp. I will be giving a brief explanation of the movie and talking about the theme of religion and politics.
..., I believe I can be a good accountant as long as I improve on my weaknesses and master my strengths.
...y you have enthusiasm for and do well in,” is advice often given by employers. Lynn Cheney, former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, agrees: “Students who follow their hearts in choosing majors will most likely end up laboring at what they love. They’re the ones who will put in the long hours and intense effort that achievement requires. And they’re the ones who will find the sense of purpose that underlies most human happiness.”
Accounting seizes my interest for a number of reasons. I possess strong analytical skills and always derive pleasure from working with numbers. Personally, these qualities helped decide that a future in accounting would be a great decision. The thought of becoming a professional offers a new level of excitement. In addition, there are many different positions and roles that an accountant can fill. Besides the financial rewards, accounting
Every day, many people question my passion for pursuing accounting as a profession and the first answer I think of is that I am good with numbers. However, advancing in the field has made me realize that my passion is not only based on figures. Growing up as a kid, I was privileged to have a piggy account where I would save as little as fifty cents per week. Since my parents rewarded me in monetary value as a positive reinforcement in cases of good behaviour, I was motivated to maintain good manners so long as my savings increased. As time went by, I realized I had saved way “too much” money for a little child. The challenge came in the management of the funds because I was focused on spending more on pleasurable activities. However, the guidance of my parents enabled me to prioritize on the more important things and save more. I took interest in managing may own account as a child and even pursued accounting courses in high school. The interest grew deeper because I gained more insight on the facts about accounting and the career. Also, I believed that it is career that one would be self-employed thereby avoiding the dilemmas of lacking jobs after graduating. For instance, one would easily start their own business and manage their finances comfortably.
If you don’t have a deep background in accounting, but if you are strong in math, then don’t worry, you’ll be able to pick it up fast enough once you’re on the job. If you do have a background in accounting, then it gives you a nice edge.
I feel that this major is of a great interest to me because its diversity. Both career paths have advantages and disadvantages. Public accountants have greater variety of exposure in working with different clients and industries; also, advancement opportunities may become sooner. On the other hand, private accountants can reach management levels without a CPA license and advancement opportunities may not come as quickly. This overview presented me a better idea of where a degree in accounting could take me. Knowing that I have a variety of opportunities and room for growth give me the confidence I need to Pursuing the degree would definitely open up the doors for me. Similarly, knowing that I have a detail oriented personality is a perfect fit for the world of accounting; I feel confident that my analytical, math and communication skills will help me to become a trustworthy and reliable accountant who help people to become more efficient with their
