Noah's relationship with his friends often builds his character through the multitude and variation of experiences he shares with them. Firstly, Trevor's behavior in the darker parts of town shows the strength that Noah has in his character to survive the dangers in the hood. This is shown through the statement, "You'll start doing better and you'll bring your hood friends out to a nice club, and the next thing you know somebody starts a fight and one of your friends pulls a gun and next thing you know somebody's getting shot and you're left standing around going, What just happened? The hood happened," (220). This quote shows how Trevor has the ability and character to navigate through the dangerous parts of time, while not being too engrossed in it. Furthermore, this shows how Noah shows how someone with his strength of character can go from being nothing to being world famous. Secondly, Trevor builds his strong character by not having many friends at an early stage, he can live without the lure of friendship. This is shown through the quote, "I didn’t have any friends." I didn’t know any kids besides my cousins. I wasn’t a lonely kid—I was good at being alone. I’d read books, play with the toys that I had, make

This theme can be explained in Chapter 20 “The Minister in a Maze” Hawthorne wrote “ No man, for any considerable period, can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be true”. I believe this quote means, within this book there are individuals that seem to be one person but end up being a totally different person, those individuals can only be that different person for a period of time before someone out..Within this quote the two characters who certainly explain this quote are Arthur Dimmesdale and Roger Chillingworth. In the story of the Scarlet Letter, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale possesses more guilt and fear than any other character portrayed within this fascinating book by Nathaniel Hawthorne. There are many examples that make this theory evident: by him putting off his confession about his act of passion, it results in a woman being punished and set apart from the rest of civilization, all while dealing with his moral obligations as a pastor and finally comparing him to the other major male character within the story. Even with his abundant knowledge of what is right and wrong, Dimmesdale attempts to rationalize his mistakes and reason to himself throughout the story that what he is doing is best for everyone. Is this a only a sign of just fear or hypocrisy

The character is Trevor Noah, the author of the book, and he talks about his experiences when he was younger and lived in South Africa during a racial period, apartheid. Trevor had considered himself “born a crime” (Noah, 21) due to the racial laws in place where different races could be together. Trevor’s life is impacted by the location he lives in. He often couldn’t find a place to fit in due to him being a mixed race and not looking like his mother; he could’ve been taken by law enforcement for being “the wrong color kid in the wrong color area” (Noah, 29). The relationship between Trevor and the environment around him did not produce a positive outcome, being constantly shunned while trying to live somewhat of a normal life.
