The Book I chose to do for my book report is Live Original By: Sadie Robertson. She is one of the daughters of the Robertson Family, also known as the Duck Commander (Duck Dynasty) family. This book that she wrote is about how the duck commander teen keeps it real and stays true to her values. The Robertson family is a Christian family that lives in Louisiana, and they make products for people who hunt ducks. The show is a reality TV show, they have become really wealthy but they owe it all to God, and they trust in him completely. They have had many trials, one of the trials they faced was being asked not to pray before meals on the TV show, but there was no way they would agree to that. They have put their faith before fame and that’s something that’s really important. Sadie Robertson is 18 years old, and currently a senior in High School and graduates in 2016.
In her book she talks about being happy and how the Bible says “But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful” (Psalm 68:3). Throughout our days we have many thoughts, some are good and some are bad! But something important to remember is that what you think about will come out in your life. So it’s really important to keep your mind pure and think about godly and uplifting things. We also have this thought that we need certain things in life to be happy and that’s a lie. All we need is God, and we don’t need to live life thinking that we have to walk around pleasing everyone’s needs. The most important thing at the end of the day, Is that you pleased God and glorified him with your actions. Many relationships come our way in life, but the most important relationship is the one you share with God.
This book also talks about having ...

I can relate this book to my life in many ways; it was easier for me to relate to this book because were both 18 year old girls who want to live life the right way. Also I don’t want to live life trying to be like everyone else, so this was really encouraging to me. A part that helped me was the part about confidence and how important that is. Its important to have confidence in your faith because say you get in a situation you can protect your faith and stand up for what you believe. Another part that I can really apply to my life was how when people were talking about her she didn’t even beg to know. Personally whenever I hear that someone was talking about me, I really want to know what they said! This helped me to learn that why fill my brain with negativity sinful gossip, because that’s not what Jesus would do.
I believe the most important concept that I gained from reading the book was to remain faithful, in good times and in bad. Walking blindly can be very terrifying, but God always has a plan for each and every one of us. At times, the plan remains unseen, and that should not deter or slow me on the path that my heart is yearning
I always looked at death as such a sad thing that is eventually going to occur to everyone. However, after reading this book, it made me realize death can actually be a beautiful thing. Death allows a person to go to a next life, one where they will be loved and others will be there for them. It was interesting to be able to read about stories that these hospice care workers witnessed themselves. I have experienced a few deaths within my life and I never coped with them very well. After reading this book, I honestly believe I will be able to look at the positive side of death and be able to deal with my emotions better. I can also help others surrounding me deal with a death that they are experiencing. This book was filled with information that I loved learning. For example, I never knew that a dying person can choose a time to die. The thought of this never occurred to me before. I always thought that when it was someone’s time to go, they had no choice. But, a dying person can “put off” passing on until they see a certain person or event that has great significance in their life. Nevertheless, there are still people who will wait to die until they’re all alone in the room. This book makes you think of real life situations and think what you would do in them. Taken as a whole, it was a very in depth book that changes the way you would naturally perceive
It also shows some more common ideas, like how all families have secrets, and in just a short time, someone’s life can be turned upside down and they have to find the best way to stay strong for themselves and their families. The most important thing I learned from this book, is how some people in other cultures find life to be very difficult when they are trying to do what is best for their family. Anita kept saying America is the ‘free country’ and I couldn’t agree more. So many people want to come here for so many different reasons, and it makes you realize that if our country is so great that people from all over the world want to move here, we are very lucky to be so highly thought
I think that this book sends a very important message, it tells the reader about the dangers that adolescent girls face and survive every day. It also gives many different perspectives on issues that teens face because she gives us her own opinion and also those of her patients and their parents. I think that the reason this book is so eye-opening is because it gives you the honest truth, it's not candy coated. She tells stories that really happened, and the reality of the book is one of its best qualities.
I think that the messages this book displays are important for anyone to think about, and apply to their lives every day.
For a very long time, she was in the deepest of pits. Except that, she had faith. Somehow, she found enough courage to attend a divorce support group that brought her face to face with Jesus who had always been with her, waiting in the wings for her to reach out to him to grab hold, to touch him. With the belief that Jesus would pull her up out of that pit and set her on solid ground (Psalm 40:2) her brokenness began to heal. She knew of his redemptive act on the cross, she knew of his healing power. With all hope lost, she clung to Jesus, believing for wholeness restored and found new life, as if to hear Jesus whisper these words, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in
Repeated images of Angela Bari living an imprisoned life in Voices by Dacia Maraini play an important role in book. The internal and external forces surrounding Angela Bari lead her to a life of confinement and domination. If Angela Bari had broken away from her confinement she may have prevented her untimely death by exposing the ill ways of her stepfather, Glauco Elia. Angela's secretiveness, self-doubt, and compliance with others lead her to victimization.
I can relate this book to a very good friend of mine who got caught up in a bad situation. I’ll use the name “Bob”. We live in the small town of Cape May, NJ and everyone knows everyone. Not always the best situation for people like Bob. He and I became friends before any of these awful things started to happen.
*All in all I would say that this novel is definitely a good read. I found my self at times relating my own thoughts and experiences to that of the characters in the book. This is the very reason I would recommend that you give your class next semester the option of reading either this book or another. From my point of view, I think that most men can not relate to certain situations that occur, which lessens the overall significance of her writing.
My recommendation for this book would be that this book is just a fun read, nothing to serious. But yet it's a book were its easy to relate to were a lot of the situations that happen in the book happen in young teenage life as well. Like for example the desperation to fit in. kids will do most likely anything to be part of "the cool group" hopefully not take some sort of pill that will talk to you in your head. But other things like being pressured into talking drugs. Sneaking out of the house to go to some party and not coming back until the next day at dawn without getting caught. These days we do so much and our parents know so little.
I have really enjoyed reading this book made by Ishmael because it tells how life has its twists and turns and their adventures through villages and trying to escape death. The characters in this book show how you really do have real friends and that a society can form and shape who you're or who you could be. My favorite character would have to be Ishmael Beah bec...
The main character in this story is Cassie Logan. She and her three brothers go through an extremely tough time in this story. They go through everything from racist driven petty things to the death of a friend. Cassie's age contributes a lot to this story. Since Cassie is about 10 years old she doesn't fully understand everything that happens and why they happen. This book is written in first person so the reader knows her thoughts and feelings, but not everyone else's. This provides a better grasp on Cassie's inner conflicts.
The reading had an unexpected impact on me certainly for the way that some controversial social issues were presented. Those issues had a negative impact at that time because at that moment I was struggling to make a difficult decision about my personal life. After dating for three years a different ethnicity person, he asked me to start a family with him. My first response was no because I was afraid to experience some kind of discrimination from his family side or that he could suffer rejection from my family side. Parallel to my situation, my friend who had emigrated from Mexico was recovering from a five years long relationship that she had with a Mexican-American who decided to end the relationship with her because he married an American woman. My...
In these lines "He" is Christ. She is referring to all of the things that Christ has done for his followers and all he asks from them is to try to live perfectly.
In 1967, a law was passed called the “Age Discrimination Employment Act”. The law simply means that an employer may not discriminate someone in any way due to their age. So often you hear of someone not getting a job because they are too young or even too old. Employers think that if someone is young they might not have the experience or maturity for certain positions, which may not always be the case. On the other hand, if a potential candidate for employment is older, a company might not want to hire them because they know that the person may be retiring soon. Take a look at the lawsuit against Radio Shack in 2007. David Nelson, then 55, had been employed for over 25 years when RadioShack assigned a new, 43-year-old regional manager to supervise him. Within four months of the new supervisor’s arrival, Nelson, who had a 25-year spotless performance record, was placed on two performance improvement plans (United States). Nelson, believing that he was being discriminated against by his new supervisor because of his age, complained to the human resources department. According to the complaint, within five days, before the allotted time for improvement was over, RadioShack terminated Nelson in retaliation for his complaint of discrimination (United
