I. Introduction to Boeing
The company that we have chosen for this class is Boeing. Boeing is immersed in several sectors of the Aerospace defense industry. Some of these include: the design, manufacturing, and selling of airplanes. Boeing also sells rotorcraft, rockets, and satellites. They are one of the largest defense contractors in the world. As you can see, Boeing has their hand in just about every corner of the industry. In the commercial airplane sector Boeing has an impeccable track record. They currently produce 6 families of commercial airplanes and are in the process of adding three more. They have over 10,000 airplanes currently in service worldwide, this is almost double the number of airplanes that their closest competitor has …show more content…

They provide the armed services with most of their aircraft. Boeing was able to take many of their jets that were already in production and use those plans, change them a little to fit the military’s needs, and create defense aircraft. They provide the military with, jets, satellites, helicopters, refueling planes, and anti-submarine aircraft. Boeing has come out this past summer saying that they will be shifting their focus away from making jets and more towards repairing them and keeping them flying. The new head of the defense division for Boeing has said she plans on stopping production of fighter jets and focusing on keeping the ones already flying, flying longer. “We’re not getting out of the fighter business,” she said. “We’re just evolving what the fighter business means to us.” (Caemron) Boeing has seen a steady decline in the sale of their fighter jets, including the loss of a new air force bomber contract to rival Northup …show more content…

They have engineering experts on staff to help with any technical issues that may appear. They continually send updated manuals and publications to customers to help them better maintain their aircraft. Boeing takes data that airplanes give off during flight and will send them to their hangers, then send it back to their customers to analyze and interpret the data to help them increase their aircrafts performance.
Boeing’s GoldCare allows for customers to outsource some of their day-to-day operations to Boeing. “GoldCare seeks to maximize operational availability for customers’ aircraft while minimizing in-service risks.” (AirInsight.com). Some of these operations include: engineering, materials, and information. These are some of the ways that Boeing retains loyal customers.
Boeing has operational offices and hangers all across the world. They have 160,000 employees in the United States and offices in 65 countries on 6 continents. (Boeing.com) Customers have the ability to meet with a representative in person when purchasing aircraft because of the vast reach that Boeing has across the world.
