Intrudoction:
Everyone has a future and affect the future in different ways depending on their choices, and people should be able to pick what kind of future they want from themselves. For example: in Raymond’s Run the protagonist squeaky’s who lives in Harlem New York has to deal with her parents parents wanting her to dance on her toes, while she has a different hobby and interest which is running. Another example of someone with a rough life that has to deal with people affecting his future is the guy from Believer when they say “Don't you tell me what you think that I can be” Meaning he wants to choose his own future and not let others do it for him.
Body Paragraph:
Just like you affect your own future other people could also affect your future and either “make you a believer”, or try to make you something that you don’t really want to be like a strawberry. An example of someone affecting someone else’s future is shown where squeaky believes in raymond and starts thinking that one day he can become a runner too. Another example of someone who affects somebody else’s future can be seen where squeaky shows interior thinking of her and her parents.

“fairy or a flower or whatever you’re supposed to be when you should be trying to be yourself, whatever that is, which is, as far as I am concerned, a poor black girl who really can’t afford to buy shoes and a new dress you only wear once a lifetime cause it won’t fit next year.” Pg.185 - 189
In squeaky’s interior thinking we can see that she believes “you should be trying to be yourself” which is also shown in an important line from the song believer which is
“Don't you tell me what you think that I can be
I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea, oh
ooh The master of my sea”. This Quote also shows that the writer of the song Believer wants to make a stand against someone as when he says: “I’m the one at the sail” he means he is the driver which gives him the choice of where he goes. In Raymond’s run “you’d think my parents would know better than to make me dance on my toes just so they can come in outfits and clap”pg.197-198. In both of those cases people are trying to affect somebody else’s future by making them be something they do not want to be. Overall both the song and the story share the common theme of people affecting their own future, and other people affecting other people’s future. Conclusion: In conclusion people should choose and have to freedom to be who they want to be and live the life they want to live. Although while People probably would not want to be that one person who holds back someone’s dream, people need to understand each other in a respectful way and people should care for others and help those in need. Imagine how many people in the world would have a much better day if they could just control their own future and make their dreams come true, imagine how good it would feel if you were one of those people.

When someone doesn’t achieve their dreams , they feel insecure which makes them have hatred towards people that are happy. In chapter 3, Curley comes into the bunkhouse to look for his wife and because of this, the men in the bunkhouse start laughing and make fun of him. Lennie also starts laughing at the thought of his dream farm. Curley thought Lennie was laughing at him so he attacked him, “ Come on, ya big bastard. Get up on your feet. No big son-of-a-bitch is gonna laugh at me. I’ll show you who’s yella. Lennie looked helplessly at George, and then he got up and tried to retreat”(62). Curley is insecure about his small size because that ruined his dream of becoming a boxer. When he walks in the room to look for his wife, the men start laughing at him and he feels that they were making fun of his
For example, in the ordinary world comparison, Luke desires his life on Tatooine to be more exciting and adventurous. For example, in the film, he talks briefly with his uncle about how he wants to join Starfleet Academy, but his uncle won’t let him. While on the other hand, Katniss’ everyday struggle for food, water, fighting diseases, is all she could care for at the moment, because she knows it could be worse. In A Wrinkle in Time, Meg lives life with her mother and brothers with
Some of us can be slaves to society, but still there are some others that will see beyond it to reach for what they want. People will do anything to fulfill their dreams. They will travel great distances or change their whole lifestyles to succeed. But not everyone prevails. In the end, it's the people that guide themselves and are not controlled by others. The best days may be the first to flee, but dreams live on forever (174).
She also used a comparison, “Like a little girl, she smooths back her dirty hair and proudly puts it on” (5). She used the comparison to make the reader realize that although she is homeless, she is not any different than anyone
Fate has opinions however it is us who make the choices. Destiny is ultimately in our hands. In Into the Wild by Krakauei, Which is about Chris McCandless a 3.72 student has a choice of going to a good university with his grades and the money his parents have saved for him to go to a university but instead he decides to take a different path as ¨ he intended to invent an utterly new life for himself, one in which he would be free to wallow in unfiltered experience.¨ This proves
More often than not, the outcomes of events that occur in a person’s life is the product of the idea of the self-fulfilling prophecy. It is that which “occurs when a person’s expectations of an event make the outcome more likely to occur than would otherwise have been true” (Adler and Towne, Looking Out, Looking In 66). Or restated, as Henry Ford once put it, “If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you’re right!” This brief research paper touches on the two types of self-fulfilling prophecies, those that are self-imposed and those that are imposed by others. Additionally, it gives a discussion on how great of an influence it is in each person’s life, both positively and negatively, and how it consequently helps to mold one’s self-concept and ultimately one’s self.
The life we are given influences what we do, but it is up to us to decide our future.
“Having better future” is very simple to many people hearing this, but with me, struggling in my small place, not seeing my mom, my dad, not having any fancy toys to play, not having delicious meal, not going to restaurant, not having nice set of clothes as my friends are something I will not let it repeat again in my life. With the tremendous desires to have better life, I continue to learn, to read, to write, and share with my kids every day. I wish I can share these feelings with my grandma. She maybe in heaven right now, looked down, smiled and said “I told you so.”
...ng. Alice continues the passage by expressing that she doesn’t desire to be a particular size, but that she simply didn’t wish to be changing so often. Alice’s desire to be herself is important to note as it clearly defines the identity crisis Lewis Carroll reveals about children in the Victorian Era as a result of the societal influences forced upon them. Children are fed facts, forced to conform to the elite societal standard, suppress their inner-child as a result, and are left, according to Lewis Carroll, to squander between a split personality. Thus the identity crisis of children during the Victorian Era are a result of these societal influences, and, like Alice, they are left wondering, “ Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle!” (19).
Mills states that often, people feel trapped in their everyday situations and in their life as a whole. They feel as if they have no options or control over their circumstances (McIntyre 2014). Although in many cases they aren’t in control, they also aren’t always to blame for their situations, either. Often, society plays a role. With a sociological imagination, people are able to truthfully assess their own situations.
People are all told from a young age that they can do anything if they set their minds to it. It all depends on one’s life situation and upbringing. Some people are born into a wealthy family with many benefits and end up in jail or addicted to drugs. Other people could easily be born into a rough life living on the streets and grow up to be extremely wealthy and successful. Hardships that are thrown at a person can either make or break them. Regardless of the hardships, everyone is given the same chance to get out of the abusive, destructive, or unsafe situations that they are put into. Whether or not one’s choices and life reflect their past is completely up to that person.
Everyone has to make choices in their lives. As a child most of our choices are very small. For instance, choosing what toy we wanted to play with. The older everyone gets the more difficult choices, come into play. We take on the choices of adulthood. We control our future. We decide whether our life is a disaster or a success.

People don't truly accept life for what it is until they've actually tasted adversity and went through those misfortunes and suffering. We are put through many hardships in life, and we learn to understand and deal with those issues along the way. We find that life isn't just about finding one's self, but about creating and learning from our experiences and background. Adversity shapes what we are and who we become as individuals. Yann Martel's Life of Pi shows us that adverse situations help shape a person's identity and play a significant role in one's lief by determining one's capabilities and potential, shaping one's beliefs and values, and defining the importance and meaning of one's self.
