As we all are fully aware, each student is diverse and has special needs when it comes to learning. There are three types of learners: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Visual learners learn best when shown how to do an assignment. They prefer diagrams, pictures, and charts. Simply allowing your class to create flashcards and color coding notes can help these types of learners memorize the information. Our brain organizes information through a process. Creating flow charts will help the brain map out the information from the lesson given. Auditory learners learn best when a teacher presents information by talking to the student. When directions are read aloud, they tend to succeed. Allowing time for students to discuss the material in a group before moving on to the next is beneficial for these types of learners. Kinesthetic learners are learners who excel when engaged in the learning activity. By participating in labs, skits, and presentations, they acquire the information faster. Starting the class with a few warm up activities, next a lecture, then a classroom discussion, and wrapping up with a review will help all types of learning styles. Without the knowledge from psychologists about the different types of learners and their special needs, teachers would not know how to respond to their students who may struggle with the material given.
In today's society, the higher education system has been a very controversial topic for many years. There are many problems that people have with the higher education system in America. People have questioned its tactics and debated the pros and cons of the higher education system. One of the many problems that higher education presents is that learning is linear. Many educators do not go into further detail with their lesson. "Most teachers and professors in colleges have a set plan, and this is what makes higher education rigid"(Ruytenbeek, 2013). This is why most students find higher education tedious and difficult to grasp. This linear learning is a significant problem in our higher education system because it does not educate every student equally. Every student learns differently, and this linear model forces students to learn a certain way that they are not accustom to. If this linear learning continues, then those who graduate from this education will continue to be inexperienced and struggle. The higher education system has not made a significant change and has remained rigid over the years.

Most students have never experienced this type of learning. They aren’t familiar with taking the risks necessary to take on this learning. Their experience in high school has been completely teacher-centered instruction and it is hard to let go of this old habit.
