After I finish my biology transfer degree here at CCC, I plan to transfer to PSU to further my education towards the medical field by working towards either a biological science, physical science or health science master’s degree. Each year I plan to take 12-15 credits a trimester and 6-12 credits during the summer. I will adjust my credits per trimester on the criteria that I maintain at least a 3.50 GPA. During the summer break, I will be taking CNA classes and various other training courses to get a general start in working in the medical field. I will start working in hospitals or nursing homes as a CNA as soon as I have taken enough required training classes to start. From there I plan to work my way up in position, and see where I fit best in the hospital atmosphere, regarding where my skill set works the best and in what position. …show more content…
As I work, I will be cutting down the hours I work during the school year, and raise them during the summer when I will have the lightest load of classes. This will be to insure my I keep the goal GPA I have set for myself and to make sure I will have enough to work on lab reports and projects outside of class. If while I am schooling at PSU, I have to reach out to other colleges to finish my master’s or doctoral degree, I will do so by doing a complete transfer to the other school, and then continue with my planned proportion or credits, and hours of working. If I have to transfer to an out of state school to do this, then I will also find a job in that state that my work experience sets me in, and I will rent out an apartment with other people working towards the same goal. After I have graduated and have gotten my PhD, I will work for a hospital in Oregon that fits the lifestyle I want to live by. I planned my schooling plan this was as not to be overwhelmed but instead gradually immersed into the medical
...my best self, both in and out of the classroom. Equipped with Bachelor of Science in Nursing from LSUHSC, I will dedicate my life and career to fulfilling my role as a leader in health care delivery and strive to continually learn and grow in the field of nursing. I will use my core professional values to represent compassion, respect, integrity and excellence at all times because I understand that a holistic treatment is imperative in effectively healing all individuals. I will take the knowledge I gain at LSUHSC School of Nursing, as well as my own personal experiences, and apply it each and every day to all patients in my care. The field of nursing is my calling and as both a student and graduate of LSUHSC School of Nursing, I will give myself wholeheartedly to the study and practice of nursing while embodying the mission and vision of LSUHSC School of Nursing.
After over 15 years of working as a CNA and Caregiver, I decided that I wanted to continue my education in the medical field. In 2013 I took the first step towards gaining a better future with more experience as a medical professional. I enrolled into a Medical Assistant program at IBMC college of Longmont. It has been a long road and I am almost to the finish line having gained essential skills needed to move further into my career. It has been a grueling and eye opening experience for me being an adult learner returning back to school at 33 years of age. I persevered through these pass two years with courage and determination, never letting my short comings get the best of me. As I approach the end of my journey with IBMC I have realized that I have a passion for helping those persons who
I will begin my education at Germanna in the fall of 2017 and later transfer to a university to get my bachelors. Pushing myself towards my bachelors can impact my future greatly. Attending Germanna’s nursing program will take about 3 years in total. I have a semester of prerequisites that I have to take before I can even apply to their nursing program. After that semester, there is an application process that everyone applying has to go through. If accepted into the program, I will be attending for two years as a full time student. In that time, I will earn my education and prepare myself for the state test that Virginia provides to all students earning their degree as RNs. After passing the state test and completing my courses at Germanna, I will graduate as a Registered Nurse. In my last year of Germanna’s program, I will have options to specialize in a field of nursing. In that time, I will learn everything and anything about becoming a great labor and delivery
My immediate goals after completing this program is to take some time off from school, pay off our (additional) student loans, and when the time is right possibly evaluate the feasibility of pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Healthcare Administration or continue on in trying to obtain my Master 's Degree in Nursing. However, I currently foresee immediate challenges to those plans - my eldest child, my son, is currently a junior in high school, aspiring to become a Pharmacist and attend UH Hilo. In addition, my daughter, who is three years younger to my son, is aspiring to become an Ophthalmologist. So as with any parents, I may put my goal aside to help both my children achieve their goals.
Throughout the years as I've grown, I've noticed that I have a passion for children and a passion for their health. I believe I have the academic skills to be able to start my journey on becoming a pediatric nurse. In junior year of high school I took "Medical Office Technology" which was my favorite class I have ever taken in high school. It teached me medical terminology and informed me on types of medicine. This year as a senior I am taking "Child Development" and I am enjoying this course. This course teaches me about children and their development from the time they are born until they are 18 years old. I believe these two courses have taught me alot more about medicine and children. Other than academically I believe my personality traits would contribute to the medical school community. I am very patient and passionate with children. I am also a good listener and feel very comfortable around children as they are comfortable around me. My family and friends always say I have a gift with children. Their energy and happiness rubs off on me and makes me a better
With Emily graduating from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, I knew I would be getting useful and excellent advice from her. The first most important question I asked was, “What was the hardest part about nursing school?” Emily commented that the “clinical preparation worksheet were time consuming given you had to start on the worksheets a day before the clinical, then go to clinicals early to look up information, then after spend several hours looking up different medications and lab values.” With this being said I am definitely not surprised because I know that the nursing program is very time consuming as a whole, and it is a very competitive program. However, I am so excited and driven for this challenge because in the end of all the schooling, I will have achieved one of my biggest goals. The next question asked, “Do you have any advice to someone like me that is going into the nursing field?” Emily confidently answered with, “Keep an open mind about all the different specialties. Especially during school, be willing to try different areas and working with different populations.” I am really glad that Emily gave me this advice because I am so interested in pediatrics, but I also need to keep in mind that I need to experience working with different
Meanwhile, I would transfer to attend the University of Texas at Arlington. Once I start the school year, I am going to surround myself with young people, who are motivated, caring and determined, too successful in their academics as well as their personal lives. I want to strengthen my communication skills, study harder, and improve my time management skills. And maintain myself there to obtain my Bachelor Science Degree and can go deeper and higher level status in my career field. I choose to apply to this Honors Program, because I like to be challenged and I work hard for what I want to
Upon completion of receiving my degree, I plan on applying to both the University of Pennsylvania and Texas A & M in hopes of completing my goals within two to three years. At this time my husband and I will also be trying to secure our families future by purchasing a home near my work. Additionally my husband and I are in the process of filling for a green card so my mother can become a citizen of the United States. After my mother citizenship has been approved and is able to live in America, this is when I will look into having a baby. Having at least one child would be hard but by having a great support network in place would make the situation an ideal one for my
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
I plan to achieve this by taking more than 12 credit hour classes, and passing them all with B 's or better. In order to pass them, I 've got to study a lot harder, and do every single homework assignment given to me. During my meeting with my advisor, she was explaining to me how the classes I had together weren 't probably the best to take together and that I should see about swtiching them around. That helped me a lot because the less stress I have on my part, the easier it will be for me to get good grades. Another smart goal I have is to achieve at least a 3.5 G.P.A all four years. The way I can achieve this is to stop procrastinating for one, and to devote at least an hour and a half of study time over the course of a few days to better improve my grades. Many people in my family throughout my years in school have constantly told me that if I just studied for one hour everyday, I would easily get good grades, and of course I didn 't listen until the end of my high school years, and when I did it helped a lot. Lastly, a goal outside of the classroom I have during college, is to find a good CNA job for me. Last year I took a certified nursing class at Washburn Tech, and I loved it. During clinicals I automatically fell in love with the residents. After I had graduated with my certificate, I was too worried about school starting, that I never had time to look for a nursing job,
Since starting this class, introduction to health care, I have begun to think about what the future holds for me and what I will pursue with my college degree. At this point in time my career goal is to become a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery. I plan on working in a hospital setting where I can continue to learn and practice my profession. Five years after all my schooling and achieving my license, professionally I see myself working at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, New York, which is a teaching hospital. I would be working on and with patients, while still learning as I practice my previous knowledge. I would be seeing patients with injuries such as an ankle sprain, evaluating x-rays, and possibly sitting on and
I want to earn my Master of Science in Biology from University of Nebraska, Kearney, with an emphasis in either cellular biology and physiology or genetics and molecular biology. As one of the best and one of the few universities to offer an online master’s program in biology, I expect you receive many more requests for entrance than you have positions to offer. This leaves the question, “Why offer this opportunity to me?”
Educational Goals: Education is extremely important part of my past, present, and future goals. I currently hold an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design Media. I have found that an A.A.S Degree does not go as far al I originally intended in the Rochester, MN area and furthering my education will be a necessity for my future career goals. Over the past 2 years I have been working on my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the Minnesota School of Business Rochester campus. I am currently a senior with 3 quarters left before a spring graduation. After a June graduation, I plan on taking a summer quarter break. After summer break I will either continue on at MSB for my Masters in Business Administration with a Minor in Marketing or transferring the University of Minnesota for my Masters in Adult Education. After my Masters Degree is complete I will decide at that time if I wish to continue on and achieve my Ph.D.
As a Biochemistry major working towards a Psychology concentration, I am captivated by the interface between molecular medicine and psychopathology. With my research at Dr. Frances Champagne’s neuroscience and molecular biology lab, I want to contribute to the discovery of genetic and epigenetic biomarkers for mood disorders. However, volunteering at the Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center and the pediatric clinic at New York Presbyterian Weill/Cornell, respectively, has reaffirmed my desire to seek out a career in clinical medicine. Hence, I primarily wish to devote my life to diagnosis and treatment of patients, with a supplemental aim of contributing towards the discovery of novel tools of diagnosis and treatment.
Of the diverse experiences I encountered as an undergraduate at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), few have fashioned my life more than the moment I consider myself to have become a scientist. I was passionate about my research in Dr. Anthony Baucum’s laboratory from the beginning; however, it was not until months later when I began to think like a scientist. I clearly recall the moment I began to understand the importance of designing purposeful, controlled experiments. More specifically, I began to understand that it is the summation of single experimental questions that work together to yield an understanding of a much larger research question. This understanding revolutionized my research project, and more importantly
