Michael “Meeko” Thompson has spent more than two decades locked away in the Chippewa Correctional Facility. Michael was arrested for selling three pounds of cannabis to an undercover officer. He had prior drug offenses, but no history of violence. When his house was raided after his arrest, a few antique firearms and one usable firearm were recovered. Despite the fact that the antiques did not fire and the one that did was owned by Michael’s wife, he was convicted of felony possession of a firearm along with his cannabis charges. This was his fourth offense which labeled him a habitual offender, and he was sentenced to 40-60 years in prison. He could have been sentenced to as little as five years. Notably, even the Michigan Supreme Court

In West Warwick Rhode Island, on February 20th, 2003, during the performance of the band Great White, a fire broke out that eventually claimed the lives of 100 people and injured an additional 200. The band’s tour manager arranged for, and ignited pyrotechnic props, large fireworks designed to display a shower of sparks. The sparks ignited foam soundproofing near stage. The fire spread quickly. Most were killed either in the crush to exit the building or overcome by fumes while trying to find an exit. The immediate cause was well documented due to witness reports and a videotape that was taken during the concert. In the period that followed the tragedy there were many attempts to fix blame. Following a Grand Jury investigation, several of the parties involved plead guilty to violations of the law and served or are currently sentences in prison.
The question today is whether Alex McKinnon should sue the National Rugby League for the injuries he sustained in a game last year. Well today learned colleagues, I will argue that he should not sue the NRL on the basis of negligence. First and foremost, on behalf of the National Rugby League and myself, we would like to extend our condolences for such a horrendous situation and we wish him all the best.

Dropping everything he’s doing Joe quickly runs to the fire poll and proceeds to exits the building, sirens soaring over head, and fire truck engines starting up, he rushes to slip on his gear, he feels good about himself knowing he’s a hero, he holds his helmet under his right arm, and jumps on the bright shiny red fire truck, he taps the sparkling smooth metal twice, and they pull out of the fire station, as they arrive at the house, he spots the bright red and orange fire, instantly everything slows down, and his heart speeds up, other than the thrill and overall well-being of this career. Job duties, Salaries, Requirements, Hours, and other information about this career are also something to think about.
I chose to do my ride along with the Lexington Police Department. The police officer that I got to ride along with was Officer Ernesti. Officer Ernesti has an associates degree in criminal justice. After high school he attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln. He says that he wished he chose a different field to study. The reason is was because he got in a fight with a suspect and injured his arm. He was afraid that he did something severe to his arm that he would not be able to perform any police duty. If he would have had a different degree he could have fallen back to something that does not relate to criminal justice. Before getting hired by the Lexington Police Department in January of 2014 he worked in Gosper County for two years. During his time at Gosper County he was a K-9 handler.
Congresswoman Giffords was shot in through the head in Tucson, Arizona. After the shooting, a panel of legislators passed the Elected Official Safety Act, a law to protect the safety of elected officials in a public (Skrentny). Governor Jerry Brown in Los Angeles was to give a public speech. However, it was interrupted by a young man named Tim Smith. He chose to attend the speech that day and make his way to the front, close in proximity to where Governor Brown was publically speaking. Secret service agents, at an undisclosed time, spot him and see that he is wearing a T-shirt that proclaims, “GOVERNOR BROWN IS IN OUR SIGHTS!” Additionally, under it there is a statement which “shows a picture of Brown with the image of the optical scope of a rifle superimposed over it” Furthermore, to drive home his intent and “point that he wants Brown out of office”, he distributes by hand to other people attending the speech “optical sights for rifles with the same slogan printed on them”, but “few people pay any attention to him” (Skrentny). Did any of defendant Tim Smith’s actions violate the Elected Official Safety Act? Did he infringe upon other people’s liberties or the California Penal Code §415, the law in Cohen v. California (1971)? Are these laws even valid or constitutional? These are the crucial questions in light of the present controversy. I, judge Sonny Wong, answer in the affirmative. In dealing with the whole of Tim Smith’s actions, he violates both acts and the laws are valid and constitutional.
That about sums everything up, they have criminal programs that are available to you at any time. All these programs should take you about at least a year. Be serious about what you are doing if you really wanted to go into this force. Forensic Technicians travel a lot especially if you are one of those good ones because they are going to call out to you first. You work with the FBI most of the times with the big crimes. Be good in the lab cause you will be in there most of the time and you need a good eyesight. If you want to be a Forensic Technician then be update and be ready to be doing hard work.
Criminal profilers are primarily employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, most commonly known as the FBI. (Walker) The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) are a few other agencies that also employ criminal profilers. Although there are other employers that hire criminal profilers, the FBI is the most prominent. In order to be considered as a potential member of these programs, having an advanced degree in behavioral or forensic science is recommended. However, the most important qualification is an agent’s overall experience as an investigator of violent crimes. John Douglas, a famous FBI profiler, believes that “degrees and academic knowledge [are not] nearly as important as experience and certain subjective qualities” (Muller 250). Since a specific degree program has yet to be created for criminal profiling, extra training and classes must be taken in order to be a profiler for the FBI. The FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit was formed to investigate serial rape and homicide cases in 1974. From 1976 to 1979, several FBI agents, most famously John Douglas and Robert Ressler, interviewed 36 serial killers to help develop theories and categorize different types of offende...
From his explanation, it seems like the process is indeed very long and extensive. First, you need a total of five months of training at the Sherriff’s Academy. At the end of this, you need to pass a mental and physical test. Next, you need six months of training at the UCPD. Thereafter, you go through another training process with a Field Training Officer whose role is “to train new officers so that each is prepared to function as a solo beat officer at the conclusion of their training cycle”. That’s still not the end of it. You then need to pass another final mental and physical test to prove eligibility to becoming a police-officer. As can be seen, the process is no piece of cake and although it is long and hard, it certainly prepares you to become a police-man. As noted in the interview, it “most certainly gave [him] the skills necessary to become a police-officer”.
Although all crime scene investigator teams investigate the same case, their job and salary typically varies (Florida Tech University Online). There are four different branches on some...
Despite the growing diversity of the labor in law enforcement, several training programs have been developed
Dave Armstrong is about to graduate from Harvard Business School and is facing three career options. The decision problem that Armstrong should be considering is not which of these three jobs should he take, but rather what job will satiate his career goals. By asking this, Armstrong can gain a complete perspective of his options instead of being confined to three career options that may not be in his best interests. His objectives are not clearly outlined in the case; however, we can infer from the manner in which he is describing the jobs that he would like to have ownership in a company, enjoys thrilling non-office jobs, and wants to grow his network. Also, he has to take into consideration his wife’s objectives for him of having a job
