This paper will explore the Biblical social point of view in respect of social responsibility and will suggest a framework for experientially living both the personal and professional mission and vocational calling to engage in social work. Social work among people who have problems requires an applied private outreach and offers an unlimited venue for professional practice. Therefore, this paper will reflect how Jesus served and helped those people to meet their needs at that time. How does Christian’s faith integrate with or associate with social work in practice? Can Christian based social work help people to overcome both personal and social barriers in long term? Based on Martin who stated that human service perform the role of teaching …show more content…
How did he go about doing good? Jesus set the example for social work by meeting people’s material, physical, and emotional needs as His initial approach in ministering them. (Pitman, 2008) I personally have to ask His strength by prayer and read His words and put them into practice. Sometimes serving others sick or suffering people caused overwhelm many times. Learning from Him and let our soul be rested and still is very important to serve His ministry.
Psalm 50:8, 15 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the filed are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. Call on me in the day of trouble.
This scripture make me realized that serving God, He does not need anything from us beyond personal relationship with him as Jesus did at that time. He loves to see us to come and tell Him what is going on and what we would like Him to help us so that His plan will succeed through our lives. And He promises us that He will deliver us, and we will honor Him. Ask and I will Answer You that was He promises.

Creation and the Fall. Genesis 3 records for us Eve’s taking of the forbidden fruit and offering it to Adam, which he accepted. Adversity originated since that time. It became the roots of issues of individual person, from individual became family, and from family became community, then community develops to global community. There were various forms of social problems as domestic violence. This is the internal issues which are developed as the deep roots in person. As Feldman stated that it is important to recognize the role of the fertilizer and the harvester in counseling relationship. These are the counselors who come into the lives of clients after the seeds have already been planted. The fertilizer is the practitioner who helps the client do productive work- this is no easy task, but the counselor has the benefit of seeing the results of the counseling and intervention strategies. The harvester is probably the most gratifying role a human service professional can have. This practitioner come along when everything seems to align for the client. The client is ready to make the necessary changes for a healthy life, recognizes past negative patterns in relationships and choices, and has the necessary insight and motivation to effect true

As many people will agree, Christ can be referred to, as Kierkegaard’s states it, “the prototype” (239). In other words, Christ lived in such an ethical and loving way that many people admire. Therefore, we can safely say that in following Christ’s “footprints” (238), we are closer to being more ethical and loving individuals. Consequently, in becoming involved with this service-learning project, I have come to realize that I, and everyone in general, do hold a moral responsibility towards complete strangers. This is most evident when regarding our religious background since I, and anyone else for that matter, cannot truly claim to being an ethical individual if we are stuck being admirers and do not alter in becoming imitators.
The primary mission of a social worker is to enhance human rights to those who are vulnerable, oppressed, or living in poverty. Caritas Processes was created to make the connection between caring, love, and human living processes (Watson, 2007). Caritas Processes has 10 factors that are identified to help make the connections. Social workers should be using Caritas Processes to successfully achieve their mission. This article will discuss Caritas Process and its relationship to social work. Caritas Process, human rights, and social workers work as a team to help vulnerable clients, without each other there would be no solution when people struggle in life.

The counselor accomplishes the above by expressing empathy, developing discrepancies, going along with resistance and supporting self-efficacy. Moreover, the counselor guides the client toward a solution that will lead to permanent posi...
There are countless social justice issues that Christian ethicists have the opportunity to address. The aim of Christian ethics is to determine one’s moral responsibility based off of a biblical framework. When discussing many social justice issues, it is easy to decipher precisely what scripture has to say, and what humanity’s moral stance should be. Yet, in many ways, humanity will still struggle to accept that moral and ethical responsibility, even when that moral stance is clearly mapped out in scripture. One such issue is poverty. This paper will look closely at the biblical teachings on poverty, the key ethical standpoints of sacredness of life, love, and justice, as well as the moral responsibilities Christians face. It seems,
The origins of social work in the United States mirror an ongoing growth of ideas put together from many different cultures. While modern social work here in the states was built on Christian ideas, many of its concepts are in part due to the influence of the Koran and the mutual aid practices of Native Americans, the African-American community, and immigrants from all over the world. Before the American Revolution, systems of helping the poor, child welfare, and even mental health services systems served a dual role of compassion and protection. By the early 19th century, private benevolent societies and self-help organizations, the predecessors of modern social service agencies, played increasing roles in this regard. The beginning of social work in the United States dates back to the efforts of upper-class women and men in church-based and secular charitable organizations to address the negative effects of poverty, urbanization, and immigration.
In essence, the translation provided by Healy, Patterson, and the text Christianity and Social Work are somewhat in congruent with each other. The descriptions as noted earlier in the essay align with performing social work on a Christian faith or by following the word of God. This is established locally and globally by helping to promote social change and justice to all people that face oppression regardless of race, color or culture. God’s desire is for us humans to help the oppressed therefore this for me is one of the most important aspects of these definitions.
As the practical influence was the more important of the two, the Catholic Church developed an extremely large practical role in the social services before it evolved. Today this order is being reversed. The church’s role as a service provider was deteriorating mainly because falling vocations left the church without suitable persons to sustain their roles. The reputation of the Catholic Church has also been stained by the found information of the shocking abuses committed by members of the Catholic Clergy on vulnerable people, particularly children, whom had been placed in their care. Despite the effects of these scandals, the new means of influencing social policy debate has a substantial effectiveness and may well offer a means by which the church can play an important role in the development of social policy in the future (Socialjustice.com. 2014).
Today's Gospel reading shows us that the Lord is with us through times of trial… or when the storms of life get to be too much to handle. Whether He calms the storm as he did for the disciples, or asks us to let him walk through the storm with us, as Paul talks of in 2 Corinthians, or gives us the strength to fight against it, as He did for David while up against Goliath; he is always with us. He does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
For centuries Christian counseling and secular psychology has been viewed as models which should be maintained separately due to the fundamental concepts which each is based on. Christian counseling traditionally focuses on guidance and truth from the Scripture, being the only truth (Crabb, 1977). While secular counselors base their techniques on research and often built on “unobservable or hypothetical constructs”, this can lead to a fusion of data and interpretation (Crabb, 1977). Dr. Crabb’s model of counseling addressed in his book Effective Biblical Counseling addresses the need for the attempt to merge Christian and secul...
