I am a current student of Thompson Rivers University and I would like to have a device that would easily provide me with accessible data and personal files, as there is a lack of available computers in the computer laboratories. This need has prompted me to the idea to buy a tablet. Many factors would convince me to purchase a particular model/brand, such as: national/religion and geographical environment, social status, and age. My interest to a modern device is a result of the upbringing in a modern society, with achievements in the field of electronic equipment and attendant skills of a consumer and corresponding set of values. Having a background in computer science, I know how important it is to have a good quality

In todays fast-paced society there has been an increased demand for resources to be more accessible. This demand has created the trend of devices, such as laptops, to become more and more portable. A good example of portability would be the way the way desktops evolved into bulky laptops, and then laptops into smartphones and tablets. What makes the MacBook Air more portable than most is it’s small design, long battery life, and with it being lightweight. Other laptops by Apple, like the Macbook Pro, weighing about 5 pounds don’t come close to being as lightweight as the Air. When MacBook Air was released in 2008 it was introduced as the world’s thinnest laptop coming in at 0.68 inches and weighing only 2.38 pounds. Compared to other laptops the only other device that comes close would be ...
The ATS showed Margaret the features and functions of the LiveScribe pen. The ATS explained how the pen can record class lectures and important information without the worry of taking precise notes. The ATS observed Margaret as she wrote a small note, made a recording and played back the recording from the notebook. Margaret did not have difficulty maneuvering the pen, as she wrote the small note. Margaret stated the pen was a good fit and felt comfortable in her hand as she wrote. After that, the ATS showed Margaret how her notes are transferred from the pen and notebook to the LiveScribe Desktop and how to access her notes and lecture once more. What appealed to Margaret was having the ability to navigate the class lecture using her computer or pen/notebook. The ATS is recommending Margaret is provided with the LiveScribe Echo pen 2 GB and a 4 pack of
As a student in the modern era, where technology is at an all-time high everywhere I look technology is being introduced into a teachers curriculum. Technology in school although once banned it is now being praised to have technology intertwined with a school lesson. Everywhere I look people are giving up old habits such as keeping a planner because your phone now offers a new way to be organized in an easier and faster manner. One habit that students are giving up with this technological surge is taking notes by hand. Personally, I have at one point tried to take notes on my laptop or even studying pre-written notes, I found myself distracted with such easy access to the internet. Consequently, I found my grades have become lower due to me
In the article, the author is quick to mention the flaws of typed notes and the advantages of handwritten notes. It is mentioned how in two of the three studies conducted, the “longhand note takers performed better” than the laptop users. Throughout the article, the author sticks to their view that handwritten notes are more conventional for classroom use than laptops. While the support for handwritten notes is superior, the author has failed to include any counter argument that could support the claim that typed notes are a better choice over writing notes by
While we still wish to remain in the production of personal computers, we have determined that we would need to dedicate 25% of our current production efforts to the marketing and manufacturing of our new line of business computers. Since these new computers have similar parts as our current line of personal computers, it will be easier on our production line workers who are already familiar with our existing hardware. In regards to this, we have decided to not enter the field of tablet computers as we are uncertain of their long-term success and would require additional factory worker assembly training. The launch of our new Dynacorp business computers will roughly take about a year to fully complete as we plan on spending 3-4 months each in the areas of conducting market research, product design, manufacturing and product evaluation. We also plan on marketing this product towards our current personal computer user base by offering them a loyalty discount for our new line of computers, as well as towards smaller businesses who may lack the funds to purchase top-line models. We also plan to use this initial launch as a prototype for future models depending on any changes in market demand or responses from our
It can cause many distractions, it can be difficult to use and can take away from learning time. People are convinced that technology is an effective tool that will further learning. This can be true, but when you use tablets and different devices in class for an hour every day, the students will not be focused on schoolwork. In the article “Technology in the Classroom: Beginnings and Endings”, Mary Ann Matras suggests that, “The pencil is still the most efficient tool”.
Building a computer can be a useful skill in today's world. It allows you to
The laptop computer has had a tremendous impact in the areas of business, education, government, and personal use. The emergence of portable computing and the laptop computer can be traced to the introduction of the personal computer itself. In 1975, the MITS Altair 8800 was introduced. The Altair is recognized as being the first commercially successful personal computer and the launching point for the personal computer revolution (Sysop, n.d.). Almost simultaneously, the idea of portability (in particular for the business-person) became a major focus in the industry.

... all ages do not know how to write in cursive anymore. Some students may not know how to sign their name in cursive since it wont be taught anymore. One thing that many people worry about with digital learning is that students will spend too much time in front of a screen and keyboard. It is believed that these kids will have less of a social life and will be less likely to communicate through talking, but choosing to communicate through online messaging and texting. Though students have a variety of information at their finger tips, this can cause temptation for students to plagiarize. Devices such as iPads and laptops are useful learning tools, but at the same time they can be a huge source of distractions. While students should be taking notes, they could be browsing the web, updating social media sites, watching videos, playing games or other distracting things.
