I agree that being healthy and physically active, a point that needs emphasizing since so many people still believe that it is something that’s not recommended for them because they tend to believe that the amount of sugars and fats that they intake during their adolescent or adult years isn’t going to make a difference in their body’s if they continue eating the way that they do. What is being healthy and why is being healthy important to me? Being healthy means obtaining a physically active lifestyle which may include running, riding a bicycle, lifting weights, etc. or changing the way you eat for a better diet. What being healthy means to me, is being able to stay in shape, giving me a greater health benefit in life such as, being able to
Department of Health and Human Services, “About one-third of U.S. adults are obese and approximately 17 percent of children and adolescents ages 2-19 are obese.” With America being labeled a country where there is a lot of fast food available for people to eat and sometimes after eating a big meal for example on Thanksgiving days people tend to lie down or watch TV after eating, it could be difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle and decrease the rate of having high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, and heart problems. The standard way of thinking about healthy lifestyle has it that the less you intake the more you lose the weight needed to lose or sometimes the more you intake the healthier it is for you, I wouldn’t agree with both of these because eating too much can cause obesity but not eating enough can be an effect of someone being anorexic. Although I couldn’t intake too much or less than the amount needed which is 20 to 35 percent of calories and fats for my body I knew I needed caloric, fats, sugars and sodium in my body, so I wouldn’t lack energy or vitamins A, D, etc. as a result I did not limit the amount of these things needed for my body (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Although I didn’t limit the caloric intake I did decide to eat less, my feelings about eating healthier during these past two weeks did not change from my first prospect which was healthy eating is something that is good for my
I do support the idea of healthy eating that it reduces any risk that I can possibly have now or in the future, but I find that it is something that isn’t for everyone. Making better food choices do not impact my health as much as I’d expected it to, because of my high metabolism which breaks down whatever I intake quickly. Other discoveries I’ve made is that even though I have a dislike for vegetables when it comes to obtaining a healthier body I would pass my dislike for the item and follow along with the regime needed to change my diet. I would describe this whole experience as being difficult for a first timer who isn’t used to long hours of exercises, this experience was something that would be hard for me to continue doing in my daily life, but it felt great achieving a goal like that I didn’t think was possible for me to do. This experience made me feel lighter with clear thoughts while also making me feel like doing a lot more physical activity than I normally do but I will not maintain the habit of eating many vegetables like I did the last two weeks. Furthermore, my beliefs about proper nutrition and exercise are that although it is something that isn’t for everyone, it is something that should be done to maintain long-term benefits such as better mental health and physical health. I do believe that I should exercise and have a healthy nutrition because it prevents many diseases such as heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood
