Being A Successful College Student

I had difficulty finding a right way to study in College. Despite the fact that I had a decent grade, I felt like it can be way better than how it already was. Why did I have that feeling? What did I miss? Has something gone wrong with the way I learn? I carried those questions to one of the counselors, and she suggested me taking the Strategies for College Success class. As a sophomore, at first, I thought this class would be a waste of time, then I decided to give it a try because I would, anyway, drop it in the first 2 weeks. In the first lecture, one question kept me in the class, “what is successful? What does it mean to you?” I always overstate the successful, it must be something huge, something that barely reachable. In general, firstly, figuring out your goals, secondly, finding the way of achieving those goals, and lastly, chasing new goals. In details, Successful Student is the one that understands his/her own personalities, own way of learning, and can adapt well to different class settings and situations. Beside, networking is really importance for any college student, it can be considered as the measure of your future success after college, so, the Successful College Student must have good relationships and connections to other students, to the professors, etc. I myself greatest skill and ability is self-learning, unfortunately, it serves no more than just academic purpose. Anyway, I have been studying aboard for 5 years in many countries, approaching different education environments, I have collected a lot of knowledge about how to learn and how to adapt to new education system. Consequently, I end up finding the best way of studying, to me, is self-studying. I am more productive when I am alone while I work or study. As my time at 2-year College has almost run out, I think I am successful at academic goals which I set to myself. Time management is the skill or ability which to optimize one’s time effectively or productively. It does not matter how much time you spend on doing something, it is all about performance and what gets done in that period of time. That ability helps me a lot, not only in my education but also in my life. I used to have difficulty handling multiple things at once, but I now schedule everything I am about to do.
