I chose to do a report on a meteorologist and what they do at their job which is different from the other choices I could have picked. The three tasks that a meteorologist complete in a day are these. They will need to know what not just what the weather will be like today but also in the future. They can't take too much time on just one day to forecast the weather, they must be exact and quick on their forecast as the weather changes. They need to know where all the warm and cold air is, and the currents and the oceans. It is a whole lot harder than it looks to those who only watch the weather chanell and don't look into what they have to do to get the weather of that week. They will need to alos even look from above to calculate everything that is going to happen on the lands surface. That is one of the ways that they predict hurricanes and tornadoes most of the time. There are multiple places …show more content…
They help with showing the Goverment what huge issues can affect the U.S and possibly hurt the people of the U.S. They can also work for private companies, which are usually involved in helping the weather channel. The weather channels that you usually watch only hire meteorologists who work in private companies. They mostly for the part for at universities, for that is the place that they usually start their carrer in meteorology. They can observe and can find all of the tools they need there to start their carrer in a good place. Also many expeirements are done in the universities as well. There are multiple reasons why this job is important to this world. When a drout happens and it can affect the crops or the goods that go through the U.S that people will need to survive is one of the main ones. They have to be on top of the weather, if they don't they could possibly not see, let's say a hurricane and if they don't inform people in time, the people in the area could get hurt, their houses destroyed, or even worse people could
Although Greensburg was almost entirely destroyed, the storm helped to reinforce the important role that storm chasers play in the tracking and warning process of severe weather. By having well-trained, experienced people in the field, meteorologists and weather services are better able to track the exact location and characteristics of tornadic events, relaying that information to the public faster and more accurately than ever before.
Throughout the entire hurricane season, meteorologists keep a close watch on the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. They examine pictures of the area taken by satellites, and also take information on air pressure, wind speed, and temperatures. One of their most important jobs is to gather information on where the storm will hit, and how powerful it will be.
Satellite imagery is one of the helpful tools meteorologists use to provide information on hurricanes. They give accurate photos every 30 minutes as images from the satellite are taken about 22,000 miles above the equator. Satellites capture images of visible clouds and air circulation patterns that help to track, observe...
Statistics show that half of the population in America was below the age of eighteen in 1960. During this time, the young people of America decided that they wanted to use their rights in the democratic government. The Weather Underground Organization or the WUO was an organization of American radicals. The WUO was often called the Weather Underground or the Weathermen. The Weathermen was founded on the University of Michigan campus by a group of students in 1969. The WUO founders were Karen Ashley, Bill Ayers, Benardine Dohrn, and many more young radicals.
Missouri open wellbeing division gives the whole data with respect to the climate and storms. The University of Missouri has a branch that studies climatic conditions predominated around there and overhauls its data occasionally. Wellbeing groups keep an eye on the climate conditions and give vital prerequisites to the survival of open. Some voluntary associations additionally does a few fights dependent upon the level of catastrophe. A branch in the school deals with tornadoes and their power. Typically these tornadoes make an incredible harm to the humankind as their power is high. The wind which move...
Now, she is a nineteenth years old sophomore student and major in advertising at OU. The reason why she would like to study in the University of Oklahoma is because of the meteorology. As everyone knows, meteorology is one of the outstanding major in OU.
Ever wonder what the atmosphere consists of? What's it made out of, what type of weather patterns are there, what does a hurricane look like, or other natural phenomenon's of today's weather ? Well America, hopefully now we can! Meteorology is the study of the atmosphere and the effects it has on our weather. Climatology focuses on how atmospheric changes alter the world’s climates, aeronomy is the study of the upper parts of the atmosphere. Meteorology focuses on the lower parts of the atmosphere, primarily the troposphere, where most weather takes place. It has been released that under the supervision of NASA, President Dwight D Eisenhower and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) that they have launched a satellite called TIROS 1 out of Cape Canaveral, Florida that will observe, record, and transmit data back to headquarters. The first ever weather satellite has arrived and with much hope will change weather prediction for the future.
Climate, weather, and meteorology are 3 words that seem to be the same but in reality differ significantly. Two of these concepts pertain to the atmosphere but differ in what time and place they are studied in, and the last one is studying these concepts.
Hurricanes and tornadoes are two of the most deadly weather phenomena to occur. They both can and will destroy anything in their path and can kill thousands of people at a time. Both are caused due to instability in the atmosphere and can happen out of nowhere. There are more hurricanes than tornadoes in a year. There is no way to really prepare for a tornado, but hurricanes give some time for preparation. Hurricanes and tornadoes are both similar and different in regards to how they form, where they form, the destruction they cause, their characteristics, and frequency.
The “normal” temperature for the day meteorologist forecast is based on median value. According to AccuWeather meteorologist they use multiple different factors to forecast temperature. The first step they look at is what has happened yesterday which is used to forecast for today and week, they take into account of temperature, pressure, wind speed, and precipitation using tools like satellite and radar. Also, surface map helps meteorologist identify weather location, like high and low pressure, cold and warm fronts, cloud cover, wind and precipitation. The next step "Meteorologists have computer models which model the atmosphere using parameters such as barometric pressure, temperature, humidity and a plethora more of complicated mathematical
The Hurricane Center is trying new ideas on how to better forecast hurricanes, “The Hurricane Center introduced experimental warnings for storm surge, the rise in sea level that can accompany hurricanes and arrives ahead of them” (Main). The experimental warning maps show the meteorologists where the storm surge flooding could likely occur, and how high the water could reach above the ground. The improvement of forecasting is due to, “much of the improvement comes from faster computers and better models, which allows for more accurate predictions of a storm’s behavior” (Main). The progression of faster and more advanced technology has made forecasting more accurate. The development of better computers is leading to more accurate predictions, “As the computers get faster, the computer model’s resolution increases, the ability to see higher and finer detail in the atmosphere increase. So as the models get better, our forecast errors go down” (Casey). Computers are helping lead to lower error percentage for forecasting hurricanes. Although computers are getting better, satellites are also helping the error percentage go down. The computer uses information given by meteorologists, and the meteorologists get their calculations or measurements from satellites, “You have to get the model off to a good start so part of the key to improving predictions is better measurements of the atmosphere
Imagine this, your waiting for your child to get home, and you here the brakes of the school bus outside. When suddenly your hear a loud screech, then the screaming of young children. You rush outside to find your child laying there in the street, lifeless. You sit there and wonder how this could have happened, and why me? Now the driver is saying that it was an accident
Also the army could become involved during the storm to help citizens that do not have a place to stay. They could open churches or hospitals for those who do not have a safe place to stay. The nation should also create and practice a plan of action for your family. The nation could also build an emergency box. The nation should also consider installing shingles to protect their roof from hail
The weather forecasters use probability and statistics just as much if not more than any other field on earth. As weather patterns are not fully understood and are dynamic, analysts have to rely heavily on past weather systems and patterns to “guess'; or estimate the possibility of present weather systems to behave in similar manners. If the probability of its behavior, subject to certain factors, in one manner over another is high forecasters make decisions as to how to advise the public.
