Did you know that a tornado is a mobile, destructive vortex of violently rotating winds having the appearance of a funnel-shaped cloud? Well, if you did not know that, this would be why you and your family should prepare for a storm like a tornado. The main things that you and your family should do to survive a storm like a tornado are to write down a list of things that is the most important during a severe storm like this. So, if you write down things like having an emergency box, practice your plan to stay away from the storm, know the method of crouching and covering your head, then you should be able to survive this storm. Three other main things that the nation and myself should prepare for during a tornado is the power shortage, food needs, and the damage it will cause after the storm passes. …show more content…
If someone has an emergency during the storm, it’s best if they have a charger that does not need an outlet. The nation could also listen to a radio. By doing this, the nation can keep up with the storm if they have any signal. The nation should also make sure to stay away from any windows that are in their house. If the wind starts to knock trees over and break glass, the nation should hide underneath something to keep from becoming injured. Also the army could become involved during the storm to help citizens that do not have a place to stay. They could open churches or hospitals for those who do not have a safe place to stay. The nation should also create and practice a plan of action for your family. The nation could also build an emergency box. The nation should also consider installing shingles to protect their roof from hail
...nd others for injuries, look for and extinguish small fires, inspect your home for damage, listen to the radio for instructions, and expect aftershocks.
The 1953 Waco Tornado was the deadliest tornado in Texas since 1900. The violent and deadly twister ripped through the downtown area killing and injuring hundreds. 600 homes were destroyed and 5 people were hit and killed in cars.Injured people were 597 and 114 killed.
Hurricane preparation is the most important thing in staying safe during a hurricane. Through technology we are able to track these hurricanes and have time to get ready for them. Recovery takes a lot of time and work, but safety and injury prevention should be your number one concern.
What is a tornado? A tornado is “a rapidly rotating vortex or funnel of air extending groundward from a cumulonimbus cloud.” (Haddow et al) Tornadoes produce destructive winds that can destroy everything that comes in its path. Meteorologists use the speed of the winds to classify the strength of tornadoes on the Fujita-Pearson scale. The weakest tornadoes, F0, have wind speeds from 65-85 miles per hour, all the way to an F5 tornado, with winds in excess of 200 miles per hour.
Like Brown told CNN’s Larry King, “I must say, this storm is much bigger than anyone expected.” What should we have to know in case of an emergency, especially if you live in a hurricane evacuation zone. According to Live Science, you have to start with a hurricane plan with your family and find out your zone and local evacuation route. We have to keep in mind the hurricanes are very powerful tropical storms with heavy rains, strong winds and that a hurricane can damage buildings, cars, homes, etc. First of all, always have a hurricane survival kit, during hurricane warning and never ignore evacuation orders. Equally important, prepared your home with flood insurance, buy emergency supplies, plan for your pets, and don’t forget to search for resources for more information about hurricane planning. According to Erik Salna, “Everyone who lives in an area affected by hurricanes needs to take personal responsibility and accountability to be prepared… It has to become a way of life, something you naturally do.” In discussion of how to be prepared in case of a hurricane, one controversial issue has been the disaster of hurricane Katrina. On the one hand, we need to keep in mind that is up to us to try to be prepared in case of a hurricane warning. On the other hand, if you ignored evacuation orders you may regretted later on in life, don’t
The US government should be well-prepared for the hurricane since it’s a modern, developed, wealthy country. Hurricane Katrina definitely showed how well the United States protect its own people. Knowing hurricanes are natural disasters, which cannot be prevented from happening. Although the US has advanced technology to spot the natural disasters much easier than other countries, it still couldn’t provide the best for the citizens. The government is not prepared for the storm, mainly because they began to play a role in the disaster. People were warned to leave before the hurricane, but many poor people had no access to transportations, which also caused hundreds of thousands of people were influenced.
Then finally, the storm can be bumped up into a hurricane if the winds reach 75 mph. The National Weather Service is constantly trying to provide us with data and other information about when and where hurricanes are forming. It has been said that the only way to reduce the number of fatalities in serious storms is to give people more warning time for them to go to a safer place. Many times in hurricanes people are told to evacuate their city or state. The more time that people have to do this, the more that people will do this.
Tornadoes are powerful and destructive phenomena created in strong thunderstorms. Tornadoes are most common in the United States, and in the U.S., they are common in an area called Tornado Alley. Every year, tornadoes wreak havoc on the countryside, towns, and even cities. The deadliest tornado in U.S. history crossed over three states, destroyed 15,000 homes, and killed almost 700 people. There are only a couple of people on record that claim to have been in and seen the center of a tornado and lived. Tornadoes even have their own rating scale, based on their wind and damage level.Tornadoes are powerful vortexes created in thunderstorms, are common in the U.S., have its own rating scale, have only been seen on the inside a few times, have the potential to demolish towns, and can take lives.
A tornado requires some basic ingredients to come together. First, energy in the form of warm, moist air must exist to feed thunder storms. Second, there must be a top layer of hot, dry air called a cap. This air acts like a lid on a simmering pot, holding in the warm air that’s accumulating in the atmosphere below until the storm’s ready to burst. Last, there has to be rotating winds speeding in oppositedirections at two different levels in the atmosphere, a phenomenon called wind shear, can cause the storms to rotate. Tornado alley is perfectly situated to meet these requirements. (1)
People did many things to prepare for Hurricane Sandy. Many people who lived on or near the coastline were given evacuation orders by government officials. These areas were likely to experience severe flooding. The people who lived in low elevations along the coast were particularly in danger. These people left their homes in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut; some were fortunate enough to find a hotel to stay in or relatives to stay with. Others who weren’t as fortunate waited in community shelters. Organizations such as the American Red Cross opened shelters specifically for people who had to leave their homes because of Hurricane Sandy.
Once the storm arrives, stay inside and away from walls and windows that could collapse or be blown away. If it is during the night, have a flashlight near-by so that you can find your way around in case of a power failure. Don’t use the telephone either unless it’s absolutely necessary. Many people may be trying to make emergency calls and the phone lines may be knocked down in some areas.
Immanuel Kant wanted to bring together empiricist and rationalist. Empiricism is the theory the theory that all knowledge is derived from sense-experience. Rationalism is the theory that reason rather than experience is the foundation of certainty in knowledge. Empiricists tried to understand Kant’s epistemological theory through reason. In the field of epistemology no body surpasses philosopher Immanuel Kant, even in modern philosophy nobody has come close to further explaining his views. His viewpoint affects most every other kind of philosophy. The empiricists tried to begin understanding epistemology through knowing and understanding the external world, Kant believed that it was the human that creates or imposes itself on the external world when pertaining to certain things and knowledge. Where Descartes understood the relationship between the mind and the world and how we process information. Kant thought this interaction was impossible, he went on to expose the logical error Descartes was never able to fully appreciate, in particular that no matter where or what is happening to a person at any given time that same person cannot say that what is happening is really existing . The link between the person and the unknown was never really made substantial and therefore everything would have to be questioned.
A tropical cyclone is a warm-core, low-pressure system producing high winds that spiral counter-clockwise (in the northern hemisphere) and inward, with the highest winds near the center of circulation. The large counter-clockwise and inward flow is characteristic of the nearly symmetric structure of tropical cyclones as they are comprised of rain bands spiraling toward the center. These warm-core storms typically form over the tropical and subtropical oceans and extract their energy from the heat content of the oceans.
middle of paper ... ... Help people if they are trapped under fallen debris and give them first aid in the event that they are injured. Tornado safety and preparedness are key to protecting your loved ones during a tornado. So far, there has been no evidence that tornadoes pick up objects and move them to Oz, but we do know they can lift enormous objects and cause billions of dollars in damage.
These are all important tornado facts and reasons of why this phenomenon occurs. Tornadoes are natural disasters that we can not do anything about, we just have to learn to live with them and be smart about how we approach them. There is no preventing a tornado from occurring so we must merely take all the precautions so we will be safe.
