A social worker is someone who works for their community. I feel that I have been blessed living in a great city and I know that there are many who don’t have the privileges that I have and for that reason, I feel that it is my responsibility to help and give back. My parents didn’t have the best childhood which has shaped me into a better person today and I want to help those who need it so they don’t go on wrong paths like some of my family has. I understand that there are people who feel that they have no hope and I want to help those who feel hopeless find meaning in their lives and help them make changes. My family has always taught me to help others and educate myself so it would be possible for me accomplish any goals I have, becoming a social worker is one of those goals I will accomplish. I have been involved in LASO, the Latin American Student Organization, at Alhambra High School. I have been able to learn about different cultures, as well as mine, and help the community. Since services in LASO weren’t doing much in helping me find a career choice, I began tutoring my neighbor who was adopted from Argentina. She came from a terrible household,her family struggled with drug addictions, which can be seen in her …show more content…

Money isn't the reason I would become a social worker, I truly love helping people. Social workers do more that find children find loving families, ensure their safety, and file paperwork, they change lives. That is exactly what I want to do, I want to make an impact on people's lives. Children are the future, with the way our country is going right now, we need children who are loved and taken cared of so they could live great and successful lives and help others, which is something we lack
