Communication is key in any relationship or job a person has. People must be able to communicate with others to get things accomplished. When communication isn’t good, a lot of problems may arise. That is why communication is such an important quality to have. Along with communication, adaptability is very important. Life doesn’t always work out as we plan so we must be able to handle anything that is thrown our way. Being able to adapt in all different situations or places is very helpful. It means a person can be thrown into anything and figure out what to do. My desired profession is becoming a Respiratory Therapist. Respiratory Therapist work with all ages, anywhere from a premature baby to an old adult. “Because if they’re not breathing they’re not doing much else either!” Everyone needs the ability to breathe to stay alive. a lot of different options. There are many different settings that a person can work in including hospitals, nursing homes, and even in home care. They much also have a state license and certification. Respiratory therapist much be certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care which includes Certified Respiratory Therapist and Registered Respiratory Therapist. At the University of Missouri, Respiratory Therapists spend six semesters in the program with clinicals. Positivity is an important quality to develop because it is used everyday. The best way for me to turn my talent of positivity into a strength will be to practice it daily. When a situation doesn’t go as planned or something bad happens I should be able to look past that and not let it affect my entire day. The best way for me to practice this would to deal with situations that are stressful and learn how to see the positive side in the situation. I believe I can accomplish this in almost any daily activity because life is always about expecting the unexpected and learning to deal with it. Some examples StrengthsQuest gave would be to make learning fun, throwing study parties, and expressing positive attitudes about life to others. Having positivity as a strength will help me a lot in life, because I believe in order to be happy about life you must learn to think positive even when things aren’t going great. Avoid negative people who bring you down. Explain how enthusiasm is not simple naivety. I know bad things happen; choose to look past
them. When working in the medical field you are surrounded by bad things happening. They wouldn’t need medical attention if it were something good that they could handle themselves. Having the strength of positivity is very beneficial when everything surrounding you is negative. By practicing my talent of positivity and turning it into a strength I can really use it to turn all the negative into good. When people are sick they don’t want or need to be surrounded by more negativity. If I can learn to practice making negative situations positive I can use it daily as a respiratory therapist.

Caring for people is my passion. My senior year of high school is when I witnessed my grandmother live on a ventilator for about a week. It awakened a new level of passion in me to care for people with cardiopulmonary problems. The Respiratory Therapy Care profession has intrigued me with how they improve the quality of life in their patients. I will enjoy working closely with patients in addition to working high tech equipment. By entering into this program and graduating out of this program I know that this will satisfy my personal goals for the next five years in many ways. The continues challenges of trying to figure out what’s wrong the heart that day or what’s wrong with the lung the next day will always keep me on my toes. It will always
I’ve always want to be something in the medical field since I was younger, but physical therapy never came across my mind until I was told by a friends mom that it was something she could see me being very good at. Ever since then I’ve been interested in it. Physical therapist think of and follow through with treatment plans for people who are injured or have an illness to help them move better, increase their strength, and/or relieve pain. I think I would be a good fit for this job because I enjoy working with people and I am very patient with people.
There are several reasons why I can say I would like to become a respiratory therapist, the respect that respiratory practitioner receive, the importance and the involvement that respiratory care has in patient care, for one day I will be working with all kinds of patients, from peds to the elderly, from subacute patients to the critically ill. I also enjoy seeing a patient who was under my care in the intensive care unit (ICU), now being discharged and knowing that I played a part in the patient’s ability to go home. The knowledge and the way a respiratory care practitioner can critically think in stressful times. I'm a kind of person that get involved, take the initiative and set the pace to accomplish what needs to be done. The final reason I can think of right now is that I'd like to be a part of the healthcare team providing care to patients. RT’s work with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff to decide what is best for the patient. Respiratory therapy seems to be a pretty good profession for me. I’m a hard

In the future, I hope to pursue my career dream of becoming a pediatrician. Pediatricians can be identified individuals who specialize in giving medical care to children and adolescents between infancy to adulthood at eighteen years of age. I became inspired to become a pediatrician due to my immense love of children. Perhaps I have an innate intuition for taking care of people being that I have always felt that I excel at taking care of others. The idea of taking care of others truly makes me feel that I serve a purpose, not only to better the life of myself but the life of others. Therefore, I believe that becoming a pediatrician will help me combine the best of both worlds into a career that I adore and cherish.
