When students are asked what they want to do for the rest of their lives, depending on their age they'll either give you a straightforward answer or ponder their thoughts and give you an “I don’t know¨. Itś hard to decide when you have no clue. Up until I was around thirteen years old when I was moving houses I was able to discern that becoming a real estate agent would be the right career path for me. Now being thirteen and in eighth grade I didn't really give it much thought that's just what I wanted to do for a living. As the years went on and I moved on to high school, choices and decisions as to where I would need to go to college and what classes I needed to be taking to be able to do this. In the beginning when first starting out you have little to no experience. Odds are you won't be a very effective agents until you have experience or in other words practice. In some states it takes as little as two weeks to attain your real estate license. As for not being hard working, it may be because these agents do not make a living out of selling homes. In fact according to real estate agent Natalie Filbert “10% of all the agents do 90% of all the business”.Lazy real estate agents do less than 90%. Another misconception is that all agents get three percent commission. Sheila Smith explains that there are many fees that play into that three percent, and that all income is taxed thirty-three percent. “ The real income off commission is of three percent less than half, and often times less if you are on a team” (Smith, Real Estate Agent). Bottom line is that real estate agents make money through selling houses, commision is split between the broker and the agent.
