Sixth Grade I remember in six grade I was really interested in basketball. So before the basketball tryout I practiced very hard every single day to make sure that I can make the basketball team. I still remember that every single day I would practice for 2 hours everyday. So as the tryout got closer I felt like I improved a lot. It was in October when the tryouts took in place. I still remember that it was a 2 day tryout Friday and Saturday. On Friday night while everyone was stretching and getting ready to do drills. I felt very nervous and I felt like I didn't have any strength and I almost couldn’t move my foot. When the tryout begin I did terrible, I couldn’t make layups, I traveled, and I was scared to do anything when I got the ball. The tryout continued, every time when I got the ball I just passed it right away. I didn't even think about if I had a good look at the rim. So after the Friday night tryout I was so mad at myself because I knew I could have done better than what I just did. So that night I went home and just imagined what I could have done better and I was trying to get my mind ready for tomorrows tryout. On Saturday when everyone was stretching I was thinking about being confidence and shoot the ball if I had a good look. …show more content…
But 1 week before the tryout I heard that this year its only going to be a 1 day tryout. That made me very nervous because I thought if there was only 1 day the coach would basically have his team pictured out. When tryout came I felt like I did way better then last year and that night I couldn’t go to sleep because I was just thinking about if I was going to make the team. I still remember they posted the result in 2nd hour when I was in history class. All my friends told me that they posted the result and when I went and checked I didn’t see my name on there. At that momentum I was really
Ever since I was young my parents said “Drew you should try new things, even if it means you fail at something.” I never really listen to them until one time in the study grade when I decided that it was ok to fail. I asked my parents “ Can we look for a club basketball team that I could try out for?” Thrilled in hearing that I wanted to try something new, they found I tryout for a team called the Cincinnati Royals. A couple of other friends agreed to try out with me, but I was still very nervous because it was my first tryout. All three of us made it through the first round of cuts and were called back for another tryout. I remember being more nervous for the second tryout than I was for the first. My palms sweated the whole night, every shot I took clanked of the rim, it wasn’t my night. My two other friends were told that they made the team, but I unfortunately got cut which I expected given how I performed. At first I saw this experience as an overwhelming failure, but I soon realized that I challenged myself, and I could learn from the criticism the coaches gave me. Taking the new stuff I learned from the tryout, I found a different club basketball team that I was fortunate enough to make, which I got to meet new people and play a sport that I loved. Although I may not have gotten the
The majority of people view the game of basketball as a game where the team that gets the ball through the net more times wins. Anyone with any interest in the game knows that basketball is more complex than that. The big man knows he has to box out every time to get the rebound. The shooting guard knows he has to be confident and ready to knock down a shot when he is open, and the energy player has to be willing to take a charger or dive for the ball to bring life into his teammates. This carries over to the point guard position as well. The average fan and player does not see the thousands of shots in an empty gym a player takes in an effort to “be like Mike,”; therefore, the average fan or player does not understand
On my first year of middle school, I was so excited because I finally could try out to be on a school softball team. I never played travel ball, only recreation softball so I've never actually been on a team that I tried out for. Over the summer I went to batting practice and fielding to get ready for the year. This is my year, I thought ready to tryout and make the team. The day came to where I had to show what I could do to the coaches. It took a while for the tryouts to actually commence because there was so much rain that week that it kept getting pushed back. This made more nervous, I just wanted to get it over with. I worked hard throughout the tryouts, but when I went up to bat I could not hit the ball. I tried many times but I couldn't do it. I felt terrible because everyone else hit great. I was embarrassed. I freaked out, this is what could ruin my chance to be on the team. Even then I still tried my best.
It was the most competitive three days of my life, basketball tryouts. This is the first time my friends and I were trying out for a school team, we were all hyped for basketball season. I entered the tryout excited and consequently energetic. Adrenaline was pulsing through all the players bodies, there were 6 foot tall 8th graders with years of experience competing against 6th graders who have never touched a basketball before for the same spots. I was in between, I was a 6th grader that had experience along with some skill. That was also my downfall, I went in overconfident and consequently cocky. I wasn’t planning on getting cut, I walked into the tryout overwrought, nothing could stop me from being on the team.
With the NBA season slowly approaching, now is the time to make preparations for your fantasy basketball team. We all want to capture first place in our respective leagues and capture bragging rights within them. The Knicks have high hopes for the upcoming season filled with talent and potential.
This Sunday, I have my first basketball tournament of the year. It is in Waverly. I am kind of nervous because, it is the first of the year. I think we will do good if we keep the turnovers to a minimum. I will probably be on the bench to start. I am a backup point guard. That means, I take the ball up the court. The point guard is the captain of the court. If you want to be a point guard, you need to be aggressive. You need to have good ball control and you can’t panic to easily. Point guards need to realize that turnovers happen. The easiest thing to being a point guard, is the part where you have to be relied on to win games. That means you can’t choke in game-deciding moments. I have done that before. When I am not playing point guard,
I’ve had many memoirs in my lifetime. But by far this one is the best one. This memoir happens during freshman year of high school. It was the start of soccer tryout and I was super scared and nervous. I did not know what to excited of tryouts because I didn't know if I was good enough to play soccer or what you even what you did during tryout. Later on that day I meet the coaches and the team that I Would be trying out for. It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be but I still wasn't comfortable at the tryout yet.
All throughout my life I have played basketball, and my position has always been point guard. Point guard is also known as floor general and is often viewed as the most difficult position in basketball due to the responsibilities of leadership and being at the helm of the team. To command an offense in basketball requires communication, decisiveness, and confidence in what you are doing. Being a point guard for so long, these skills began to develop and seep into other aspects of my life whether it be assigning roles within a group book report or organizing a party with friends. When playing basketball one must rely on instinct, and the repetition of having to be a leader on the court made the act of leading an instinctual task. With that
In high school one can see that there are more fans in the stands for a boys basketball game rather than a girls basketball game. Even in the student sections, one will see that more students will attend a boys game than attend a girls. Some will say it's because guys can dunk or guys are more aggressive without realizing that they could also see this at a girls game. There are some females who have the ability to dunk in professional, college and even high school basketball. There are and have been many women's basketball games where it is very intense such as, tied games, double overtime, or a buzzer beater and if you are lucky enough you can get it all in one. All it takes is for a person to take the opportunity to go watch a women's basketball
Many people wonder how some people are so good at basketball? The most obvious answer to that question is practice, practice, practice. When a person decides in their mind that they want to take up basketball, they have to get ready to put in all the work that comes along with it. There are drills, workouts, and equipment that can and will help people on their journey to learning and eventually mastering this sport.
If you are in charge of coaching a young elementary school basketball team that is geared towards students in kindergarten through second grade, a large part of your practice should be focused on allowing the kids to handle the ball in a fun, supportive environment. At this age, your players just need to learn how to become comfortable with a basketball. Here are a few fun basketball handling challenges that are aimed towards very young players.
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took
Basketball a sport that is played throughout the whole world. When playing this sport all you need is a ball and basket. Though the basket does have to be a certain height kids play it in their classroom or outside. What I mean by this is that kids and even adults in the office treat a trash can as a basket and whatever their trash is as a ball. I got interested in this sport when I was in middle school in eighth grade moving on to high school. I was never interested in basketball until I played it with a group of kids who today are still my friends.
In this essay I’m going to be talking about what my career is and why I think this is the appropriate career for me. I want to be a professional basketball player when i grow up.The reason I want to be a professional basketball player is because i’ve been playing basketball since I was in 3rd grade. What i’m going to be talking about in my essay is what the goals are for me to become a professional basketball player.
I believe basketball is more than about teamwork. It is about having your teammates off the court. My friends and I share an unexplainable bond when we play together. We might not be best friends off the court but we do share the love for the game. When you mess with one of my teammates it’s like messing with one of my friends and you don’t do that if you know what’s good for you.
