My goal for my mid-term basketball “career” is to start to get ready for advance (highschool/college) basketball. Some of the steps that I thought would help me achieve this goal is to set new records(goals) throughout the future in basketball. My next step that I think would help me is to get used to playing against other people. What that means is that I think I should play more against other people to get me used to where I have to throw the ball, where I should go on the court, and all those kind of drills. My last step is to keep practicing all the drills and plays.
The last thing i want to talk about to tell tell you what my goals are for becoming a professional basketball player is the long-term goals. The goal that I think would help is to join more trainings and association. The first step to accomplishing this goal is to get into more associations. It will help get more into what to do for basketball. The next step to accomplishing this goal is to join more travel teams to get used to traveling when playing basketball. The step that i think would help is to join new training associations.I think this would help because it would be able to be apart of more
The NBA is well known for the number of amazing professional athletes it has had over the years. Some of the most gifted and talented individuals come through the NBA and one of the better-known superstars is none other than Kobe Bryant. For years people have wondered what makes Bryant so successful. The main contributors that lead to Kobe Bryant’s success is his hard work and dedication, his mindset, his natural ability’s and talent, and the people that have helped him throughout his life. Kobe Bryant was very successful in the NBA because of the amount of hard work he has put in, the people in his life, his relentless determination and his god given natural abilities.
At every level in life people use goal setting to chase and achieve a desired solution. John Swales tells us that, “a discourse community has a broadly agreed set of common public goals.” (220) Goals are a worldwide starting point for a lot of different things that does not exclude basketball. Personally
My dad used to say, " be part of something that's bigger than yourself". He always uses to force be to play sports. I chose to play basketball after seeing the all start game of 2009. Ever since I wanted to jump, shoot and Run back and forth. My dad thought it'll help be grow taller, which wasn't the case. Basket ball is more about communication but that's not true. It is about hard work, percesion, trust, being punctual and most importantly dedication. Through ethos, logos and pathos I will elaborate how being on the team change my
I have many goals as an Athletic Training Student, and continuing my education is the biggest goal in order to be successful in my career and future goals. Eventually, I will earn a doctorate and go on to work at a professional level with a major league soccer team. I also aim to increase the knowledge and awareness of mental health within the field of athletic training.
“The odds of a high school basketball player making it to the “next level” to play college basketball (DI, II, or III) is slim. In fact, only 3.4% of high school players go on to play college basketball. Taking it even further, only 1.2% of college basketball players go on to get drafted in the NBA” (Winters, 2016). There are two types of players in the game. There are the kids who play basketball because they are athletic, and all they are seeking to gain is the recognition and awards. They want to be known. Those players are self-centered, they do not play for the team, and generally don’t play because they love the game. These are the types of players who don’t usually go on to play at the next level. On the other hand, there are the players that absolutely dedicate their life to the game of basketball just because they love the game. That is what coaches are looking for in a player, and that is the kind of player I am striving to be.
I always knew what my career goals were when I went into high school. Ever since I was little I wanted to become a professional boxer and also a police officer. I knew that these jobs had a great risk to injury. Even though I didn’t need to go through a full four years of college for my career goals, I wanted to get a business degree just in case I got hurt on the job and for when I retired from those job. The reason why I wanted these career goals was because I wouldn’t find my job entertaining sitting at a desk for the rest of my life. Since I find an interest in sports, I’ve decided to take the career path toward an industry that has something to do with sports and an industry that I always use for athletics. My career goal for joining
Everyone wants to get better at something, but some want it more than others. In “How to Transform an Everyday, Ordinary Hoop Court into a Place of Higher Learning and You at the Podium”, the narrator wants to get better at basketball, so he wakes up everyday at 4:30 to go with his dad to his work. Everyday, the narrator would wait 3 hours in his dad’s car until the gym opened, only to sit on the bench and watch the other men play basketball. Finally, one of the best players, Dante, tells the narrator he can play but he’ll get “smoked”. However, the narrator proved him wrong. The narrator learns that if you persevere, work hard, and have confidence, your dreams may come true. In How to Transform an Everyday, Ordinary Hoop Court into a Place
I figured that I had grown about five inches since my freshman year and had gotten stronger it might be time to play basketball competitively once more. When November rolled around I was on the varsity team, but unfortunately my basketball skills was not up to par. It was tough at first, because I was a new face on the team, and the guys on the team had a great chemistry that they had built up throughout the years. After a few weeks had rolled by, I realized that I would not be in the rotation.I told myself that the team’s success is more important than my personal desired statistics.I decided to make the most of my role on the team. It was a tradition for the guys who were not in the rotation to contribute to the game in some way, guys did this by preforming stunts after significant plays and momentum shifts in the game in our favor. This was great because the crowd loved and it and more importantly my teammates fed off of the
Sports are often identified to have positive influences on many individuals. The sports industry is growing worldwide, especially the basketball industry, which is regarded in second place behind football. The global prevalence of basketball is unquestionable, especially among the young. Basketball is a dynamic team sport that involves a pattern of alternating, active, and skilled movement activities. There are compound demands that require a mixture of individual skills, team plays, strategies, and motivational aspects.
Basketball seems to get into your blood. It is said by those who play, "You eat, you sleep and you play basketball." When I was a little girl all I wanted to be was a professional basketball player. I couldn't count how many times I pounded that dumb ball in our driveway until it was too dark to see, then I would play for hours more by the porch light. Now I realize that was only childish insanity. Back then they didn’t even have a girls’ profession basketball league in the states. However, that didn't stop me from walking away empty handed. One thing I learned was how to prepare oneself for life. Well, at least, how to prepare oneself for a game.
For my team the end goal was to be the best in the state and prove that by winning the state championship. My junior year we were extremely close to that goal, but came up short. What’s important is finding the motivation to go the extra mile and persevere through hardships. Motivation is what we needed for my senior year and we pushed as hard as we could. That motivation allowed us to win the state championship. For a job in the medical field the final goal is always to make the patient as comfortable as possible and be effective in providing
I had always heard playing basketball at a high school level was always the first step in order to become a professional. Though I only played once throughout high school I was still interested in how one could become a professional at basketball. For my senior project I chose to research about it and found out many interesting things I didn’t know about it. My knowledge for basketball grew even more.
I have now been playing this sport for 10 years. My goal was to do something I loved while being able to learn new skills (physically and mentally). For four of those years I played on rep teams for the Vancouver Thunderbirds. On these teams I learned commitment, from waking up at 5 am for a practice to having tournaments in Seattle, I was always there. After four years of training and learning how to represent the association, I decided to move down to the house league for the next five years due to the fact that I wanted to focus on school. On my house teams, I was voted as captain for all of them and got to learn how to lead and inspire a team. I learned that it wasn’t about being the best but being able to bring the strengths of my teammates together. This allowed my teams to play for the championship for the next 5 years (huh?? awkward wording) . I was able to take these experiences from hockey and apply it to school. I took my skills such as leadership and self discipline and applied it to my sports teams and school to push my team and myself. Lastly, I took my commitment and placed it at Maple Grove Elementary School and Magee where I coached a basketball team and volleyball

Each person should have their own goal to make sure that they have reasons to live. Without goals we never aim what we want to do. “if you don’t have a goal in life, you are spending your life running around and not achieving anything for yourself”- Bill Copeland. This quote wants to tell us that in life you will always be on the same stage without having the desire to improve yourself in any manners. Having a goal will motivate you to strive whatever you want to achieve instead of wasting your time do unnecessary things. In this task, I have to explain two types of goals which are personal goals and professional goals. The goals are :
