Imagine watching a vigorous baseball or hockey game, you watch your favorite team struggle to make a goal but your least favorite team keeps scoring. As you keep watching, you start to get aggravated and don’t know what is happening to make them not score. As you are watching you realize they are all over the place and not working together as a team. All of a sudden, your favorite team starts to work together and makes a huge comeback. One may ask why they are not scoring as well as the other team? This is just one element which can be greatly affected by teamwork. Everything in society can and will be affected by teamwork and helping others. Working together makes a enormous difference in each and every one's life in society. Early …show more content…
There are many similarities between hockey and baseball. In the sport of hockey, the goalie has the job of protecting the goal. The goalie stops the incoming puck from entering the goal post and scoring. In many cases, the goalie has to use his body as a shield, for the puck, so the puck will not enter the goal net. This is the same with baseball. The catcher cannot let the ball get away from him as the pitcher throws to the home plate. If the ball gets away this can allow someone on base to get to the next base and possibly …show more content…
The same is with baseball, players become more intense. This intensity can make the players determined to get a run. Multiplayer team sports require as much teamwork needed. Having all the team members contribute to the play of the game can lead to a successful career. Everywhere in the world requires teamwork. People in society learn to trust and communicate with their co-workers. Without any teamwork in the world, people would not be able to come together and build relationships with others. Everyone will learn from those people working together and find new ways of working and conquering
The rules of baseball and softball are extremely complex, so only the basics are necessary to distinguish the sports. In both sports the primary rule is to advance the runner around the bases to home plate when the ball is hit. In baseball stealing the bases is another way to advance the runner, but this is not permitted in softball because the ball must be hit before a runner can leave the base. Baseball requires nine innings to complete a game, and softball only requires seven. The softball player is out if the last hit is a foul ball, while the baseball player stays at the plate until another strike is called or hits successfully. As one can see, a player that switches games must familiarize himself with the difference in the rules to succeed.
In both baseball and football you also get to wear a uniform. They are usually your team’s color scheme and a number they give to you or you pick. Both sports also where helmets and cleats for safety precautions. However many players still get hurt. Baseball and football were both created in the 1800’s. You have to have hand eye coordination and physical capabilities to run, swing, or catch a ball. Also, you need to be able to predict the other players and teams next moves. So you need to keep a clear mindset and use teamwork.
Baseball is a very well known sport and often known as “America’s pastime” and softball is highly similar, but with a few key differences. Many people just assume that the sport of baseball is more difficult than softball, but don’t actually know the specific parts of each of the two. Also, if you’ve never played one or the other sport, you shouldn’t be assuming anything at all in the first place. Although many assume one may be harder than the other, baseball and softball both have particular factors which make them both complex in their own way.
I chose this piece because it’s the beginning, the reason why baseball got started. Also because I am learning about a sport that began so early and evolved into a major league sport. Many people find baseball can be boring because it is so long, its nine innings and that can last a while. The way the sport is, it is set up in a way that when your favorite team is winning, you tend to forget about how long the actual game is. This first inning takes place as early as the 1800’s and going into the 1900’s, explaining who started baseball. One interesting fact that I took heed to be the fact that baseball was not called “baseball”, it was actually called “base”, the game of ball.
Baseball is America’s past time. No two fields are exactly identical. The only identical portion of a baseball field, depending on the league you are in, is the infield. Every Major League Baseball park has the exact same dimensions for the infield, which is a four sided square laid like a diamond with each side being equal to ninety feet. The game of baseball is played between two teams using wood or metal bats, depending on league rules, league regulated sized ball, and baseball gloves. The game is started with the home team taking the field first. The home team will pitch to the visiting team trying to get three outs. Out can be made by a batter swinging and missing on strike three or fielder catching the ball in the air, or off of a bounce and proceed to throw the runner out at the base. After three outs are made the teams swap places and do the same thing over again. When the next team gets three outs, that makes up an inning. Most games are played with nine innings; however there are some younger leagues that just play with six innings. This is the basic structure of a baseball game, but the game of baseball ball is made up of so much more detail.
Sports are the biggest source of entertainment around the world. There are many sports in America, but baseball is our pastime. Baseball is what started America’s interest in sports, and millions of people love the sport to this day. A baseball game is a very special event. Attending a game makes you realize that baseball really is more than a game.
In softball, it is common for the crowd to be loud and upbeat. The spectator’s goal is to motivate and cheer on the favorite team. Softball is known for their chants and pre-game warmups. The environment of baseball is the opposite. If you find yourself at a baseball game, you will notice it is more calm and relaxed. The pitcher’s goal is to stay calm, collected, and to handle adversity. Baseball players are known to have a superstition about the game. Never will a professional baseball player be caught stepping on foul lines, or messing with any kind of routine that has caused success in the past, where in softball they don’t see it as a big deal. The speed of the game between the two is very noticeable. In a standard softball game, the length of the innings is shorter than what people would expect in
The equipment, the leagues, the field, even the ball. Everything about baseball has changed, and will continue to change, making it safer and more enjoyable to watch. As baseball becomes more and more different than what it use to be, one thing remains...our country’s love for the game.
Baseball is a game of ball between two nine-player teams played usually for nine innings on a field that has as a focal point a diamond-shaped infield with a home plate and three other bases, 90 ft. (27 m) apart, forming a circuit that must be completed by a base runner in order to score, the central offensive action entailing hitting of a pitched ball with a wooden or metal bat and running of the bases, the winner being the team scoring the most runs.
The English version cricket is played in a large open circular field and has two sides of eleven players that attempt to put out a batsman who tries to prevent a ball thrown by a bowler from knocking over bails placed on wickets or three upright sticks. If the batsman makes contact with the ball, he runs to the opposite side of the pitch and continues running back and forth until the ball is retrieved by the opposing team. Baseball is the played similarly other than the fact there is no sick’s and there is a bat involved. There is no one person who set up the rules of baseball) however the first ever rules to be implemented were in Alexander Cartwright, of the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club, and published on September 20, 1845. From there it help changed the face of America. More and more different leagues and teams were being set up because the rules of the game were finally established. Because people wer...
Teamwork is the combined action of a group of people, especially when effective and efficient. Any group of people could form “teams”, but when you form a group where everyone can work together and teach each other things such as self-respect and self-confidence, you have teamwork. When everyone is struggling, why not help each other out? Coach Ken Carter in demand of respect and commitment transforms a group of teenage boys into a group of young men in the movie Coach Carter. The fact that Coach Carter had transformed this group of boys is not why I enjoyed this movie. My interest moves more towards how he transformed these boys. He taught these boys to value themselves not only as a team, but also as individuals. He also taught them to look at something more than the moment at hand; and look more into the future.
In baseball, a player is allowed to be substituted out of the game with another player. In cricket however, there are no formal substitutions. The only exception is if a fielder gets hurt or tired. This is when a twelfth man is allowed to come in and play the injured or tired until they can return (“What’s the difference” 2). Another difference between the two is the way the field is set up. The field in baseball is called a diamond (“How Baseball Works” 1) and the field in cricket is called a ground (“Cricket Rules” 1). In baseball, the players can hit the ball in the area between the two foul lines, while in cricket the player has a full 360 degrees to work with (“What’s the difference” 1). After the players hit the ball, they have to run somewhere in order to score runs. As I said earlier, both games have a pitcher and a batter. The pitcher has the job of throwing the baseball to the batter. The pitcher has to stand at the pitching mound which is 60.5 feet away from home plate. He then throws the ball to the batter who then tries to keep the ball in play so he can possibly score. Once the hitter hits the ball, and it is determined a fair ball, the
Working in teams provides an opportunity for individuals to come together and establish a rapport towards others within a group. Teamwork is classified as people with different strengths and skills who work together to achieve a common goal. When a team works well, specific objectives are fulfilled and satisfied. Teamwork plays a crucial role in implementing and fulfilling a common goal in a team project. Each member plays a role and takes on different responsibilities combined together. In different stages of teamwork, conflicts and arguments may occur for as members have different standpoints which need to be harmonized within the team. The key to having an effective teamwork is to explore each member's unique abilities to motivate them.
Teamwork is key in many situations in a workplace. Without it, many tasks could not get done and efficiency would go way down. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you are working with a huge group of people, teamwork could be between two people. Without cooperation, however, no two or more people could get anything done, or would at least do it very poorly. When you are part of a workplace that consists of more than yourself you are inevitably going to work with others. Even the CEO of a company has to meet and work with others from time to time. So teamwork is a vital part of your ethicality in a work environment and should be readily available to you at a moment 's notice. Without it, you are surely not going to get along well with others or have a very happy career.
Teamwork is defined as, “the process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal.” (Business Dictionary, n.d.) Ultimately, it provides us with a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of unity amongst each other. It allows us to create healthy relationships, and bond further with our peers, and generally, it’s a necessity for our lives. Teamwork aids us with developing imperative life lessons and skills. It also helps us gain a new perspective, and discover our strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I believe that I work well in a team, and I possess the skills of a good leader. Regardless, some individuals
