There can be many barriers that effect the law enforcement community into not being able to perform their duties. First, victims of certain crimes can be difficult to deal with when attempting to apprehend the suspect and bring that individual or persons to justice. When assisting the District Attorney’s office and arresting criminals, the victim may choose to not participate, which interrupts the process and hinders the prosecution of the criminal activity that occurred. For example, cases such as these can be seen with domestic violence cases, who do not want to cooperate with what their spouse, significant other, family, or other arrangement is being charged with. For instance, in todays society, almost everyone is offended over anything and typically hyper sensitive to the reality of the real world. Therefore, even if a police officer is conducting their job at an appropriate and satisfactory level, a person will somehow find a way to complain. Having such an incident take place can weigh heavily on an officer attempting to do his or her job. Complaints such as these can bring unwanted stress to the job and may even change the perspective of how someone may or may not be helped later with the same issue. For example, several local agencies that I am aware of use to assist citizens by unlocking cars or helping others with a ride if they were stranded or had to walk. However, due to complaints when helping the citizens, the agencies chose to create a policy forbidding such activity in the future. In addition, is the complaints that are regarding how police conduct their job is troublesome. In the community today, many people contact police over every matter even if it is no a criminal matter. This becomes a burden because the police are forced to be a therapist, doctor, a parent, or deal with the mentally handicapped when certain facilities should be handling these matters. Moreover, the complaints multiply when attempt to remedy the situation, but are also criticized by how they handled
