With sites like Netflix and Hulu releasing content daily, it was only a matter of time before cable companies made their services available in various formats. Cable television networks are no strangers to allowing users to watch content online from a computer, but have recently diverged their traffic to mobile apps and assorted streaming services. Until now, BET has only provided unlimited digital on demand access to an assortment of content through their Apple iOS and Android platforms.
Announced earlier this week, BET Now will allow users of specified streaming devices to access their programming. Apple TV, Google’s Chromecast, and Roku players will allow a download of the BET app to provide users with extensive online viewership. While their content is only available to paying users of participating television providers, this will increase their expanding audience. Kay Madati, BET’s executive VP and chief digital officer said, “We are proud to add Apple TV, Chromecast and Roku to our ever-growing portfolio of BET Digital offerings and in turn expand our TV Everywhere
This brief essay examines racism in the 1974 motion picture Conrack. The movie is an adaptation of Pat Conroy's autobiography, The Water Is Wide. The main character, Conrack, a young white male teacher portrayed by Jon Voight, is assigned to teach students from poor black families on a small island off the coast of South Carolina. The small community has little contact with the outside world and develops its own language. He finds the students essentially illiterate and their education neglected by state authorities. Poverty and their race cause neglect of their educational needs. The black school principal has convinced the students they are stupid and lazy. Conroy begins teaching the students useful, essential life skills. The community has no interest in learning about anything away from the island. The community has lived in fear of a nearby river because none can swim. While trying to improve the students' level of knowledge and their enthusiasm for
M.T Anderson’s novel Feed gives readers a representation of a future dystopian world, one in which technology is not simply around us yet embedded inside our heads. Anderson gives a warning for our own society by drawing parallels between our society and the feed. As Anderson describes, "Everything's dead. Everything's dying." (Anderson 180). In this dystopian world, the environment turns into a disaster due to how rapidly technology is advancing, and this concept can relate to our society today. Indeed, society’s life has improved over the decades due to technological advances, however, it brings more damage to the earth.
But the problem with BET is that even though it targets the main age groups of the world, it only is targeted towards the black race and isn’t meant for whites. BET is not a very diverse company and they need to become one, but if they become more diverse they could actually loose the business they have now. It is the only show in the world that has no white television announcers and will not have any television shows that are white based and that would encourage white living.
In theory, political campaigns are the most important culmination of the democratic debate in American politics. In practice, however, the media shrouds society’s ability to engage in a democratic debate with unenlightening campaign coverage. Because of this, it is difficult—if not impossible—to have educated political discourse in which the whole, factual truth is on display. After years of only seeing the drama of presidential campaigns, the American public has become a misinformed people.
"The industry has not accepted that people are different", says Louis Carr, executive producer of Black Entertainment Television (BET)(Hall 12). BET has done a lot for African Americans on Television. Not only does it show music videos, but it has an award show where it celebrates and appreciates African American stars.
When I found out I qualified to be a candidate for the NJHS, I knew I had to take this chance. This group is made up of people who depict leadership, character, citizenship, academic success, and service and I would love to join. These characteristics wouldn't just be valuable for a candidate to have, but for everyone to have to exceed in life. If I were to be in the National Junior Honor Society, it would give me an opportunity to ameliorate my future and motivate me to do better.

Even the easiest and trivial problems do have several solutions, dictated by different approaches, driving forces, and starting points. So, what can one tell about solution of the complex issues that require a lot of time, effort and thought to be solved? There are always a multitude of positions, opinions and options to solve the complex problem, so one cannot even tell which of these options is the only true and right. Thus, it is hard to judge whether specific solutions for the problem of slavery in North America of the 18th-19th century would be efficient or not. So, comparing Lucy Stanton’s and Nat Tuner’s positions and approaches to achieve the freedom for African-Americans it seems almost impossible to claim that only one of the points is valid.

Others take a more extreme approach and use streaming video as a means to eliminate the need for a cable television subscription altogether. Presently consumers cancelling their cable TV subscriptions are still considered a minority of all subscribers; nevertheless their steadily increasing numbers have earned the moniker of “cord cutters.” Those looking to ditch cable TV can also find a growing number of online resources that will ease their transition to cheaper online television viewing.

An ill judged segment of an episode of Channel Nine’s weekly show – 60 Minutes – caused a story that was supposed to focus on the heartwarming journey of recent quadriplegic Alex McKinnon into a character defamation of Cameron Smith. Early in 2014, McKinnon was playing in the National Rugby League competition for the Newcastle Knights against the Melbourne Storm, and was faced with life in a wheelchair after fracturing his C4 and C5 vertebrae. It took eight minutes for McKinnon to be stretchered off the field, before Smith – the opposition captain – is seen consulting the referee about the incident, and questioned whether a penalty should have been awarded. Fast track 14 months, and 60 Minutes dedicated the entire program to the journey of
Every morning along with my alarm, I am greeted by notifications from the news, social media, and celebrities. Throughout my day I continue to experience literature, news, and social media. Before bed, like countless other teenagers, I like to relax by watching a TV show on the ever-popular streaming website, Netflix. Needless to say, entertainment is always present in today 's society. Entertainment has the capacity to be informative and enjoyable: a source of relaxation and mindless fun. However, it is what we, as members of society, do with entertainment that determines the impact it will have on our society. While it can be beneficial, entertainment does indeed have the capacity to “ruin.” Not only does the broader entertainment industry
