The story is about a man who becomes obsessed with axolotls (Mexican salamanders). He was a friend of lion and panthers, but one spring morning he decided to explore the aquarium because the lions were sad and ugly and the panther was asleep. When he went to the aquarium, he noticed the axolotls and became astonished by them. He started watching them for hours. In the library, he checked the dictionary and learned axolotls are the larval stage of a species of salamander of the genus Amhystoma. Then, he became carious about their way of life and started to go to the aquarium frequently to observe them. After looking at their characteristics, he found that axolotls have humanlike nails and they have beautiful gold eyes. After seeing those eyes,
he said to himself that since axolotls have different eyes than us, they should have a different point of view on life. Thus, he imagined if he were an axolotls to see what life is in their perspective. I think that the story has a similar idea with transition from high school to college, which we are discussing in this class. So, when high school students become college students, they will realize that they became a different person. In high school, students tend to depend on their teachers or family members when it comes to making decisions or overcome challenges in their lives. Thus, they will not realize the importance of considering others’ perspective. On the other hand, being a college student would broaden their perspective through encountering challenges and making decisions where students will need to think in different viewpoints to overcome those challenges or make good decisions. The story of axolotls illustrates the importance of thinking in a different perspective when the man imagined being an axolotl to understand how axolotls life. Therefore, going to college would change our way of thinking positively that enables us to consider other points of view to make good decisions and solve problems in our lives.

This was one of my favorite books during my childhood days. The book is a classic, and Disney later made it into a motion picture. the story’’s climax develops quickly by telling stories and adventures of a boy named Travis and his old stray yellow dog named Yeller. At the introduction of the book Travis is plowing corn in the garden when an old yellow darts bye and causes the mule to jump. He chases the dog out of the garden and curses at him. Then a few days later the stray dog ate some of the deer meat that was very important for the family’’s survival. Travis was very angered and threatened to kill the mischievious yellow dog, but his younger brother, Arliss, would not allow this.
Rain of Gold, is a true story about the history of Mexican people, their culture, traditions and customs that were passed down from the Euro-Indian heritage of Mexico. Rain of Gold was written by Juan Villasenor in search for his ancestral roots. The people of this story are real and not fiction. The places that are discussed are true. And the incidents did actually happen to his family. There are several underlying themes that need addressing. Such as: the importance of family, the importance of religion and spiritualism, woman as center of home and family, respect--protection of woman's virtue; ideal of women as pure, power of the woman--the mother, being a man-man as protector of the family, pride of man to be a provider, importance of traditions, respect for life, work and education/learning, death as part of life, honor, dignity, and finally discrimination and prejudice. I will be using this book as a reference and as a guide throughout this review to discuss the themes that are stated above.
¡Diles que no me maten! A short story by Juan Rulfo, which depicts the reality of a peasant’s life in rural Mexico. This short story is about a farmer who had a disagreement with the landowner after asking if he would be able to share his animals’ food. Due to the refusal the farmer sneaked his animals at night to feed them; however, when the landowner found out he killed one of the farmer’s cattle. As a result, the farmer killed his landowner; consequently he had to hide for over 40 years only to be murdered later on by the landowner’s son. This paper will discuss the following ideas; themes explored in the short story such as family, death and revenge. Then, an analysis of the strong need of survival and the symbolism of corn crops. Continuing to the structure of the short story and what it adds up to the overall understanding of the story. Finally, there will be a conclusion of all the aspects and what findings are reached after reading this short story.
Realistic elements also exist in "Axolotl". The main character visits "the aquarium at the Jardin des Plantes", which is a zoo, to see the axolotls (11). The boy also talks about seeing lions and panthers. The same guard took the boy's ticket every day that he went to the aquarium.
"Negra y fosforecente" (189) is the first impression that the story gives to the reader. This anticipates the darkness and at the same time vivid aspect that the story is going to have by describing the sea serpent on the door. The intense terror of seeing the "animal crucificado" (189) turns to a bigger matter that is entitled as the beginning of the long journey of hell that society is living in. The younger kid thinks that the moray "Tenía ojos de gente" (191). He was still frightened; he saw the antecedents and consequenc...

I have read your short story, The Monkey’s Paw, and I find it to be well written. I especially enjoyed your use of Foreshadowing, and Denotation and Connotation in the story. Furthermore, I would like to also suggest one revision in the story.

Andragogy believes that mature individuals learn differently than adolescent (Bethel University, 2013). Pedagogy is a way of teaching done with adolescents (Bethel University, 2013). Both of these ways of teaching both have a positive outcome but, Pedagogy is due to wanting a good grade or the fear of failure (Bethel University, 2013). Andragogy is for self-development and self-esteem (Bethel University, 2013). Pedagogy is very teacher based and the learner is dependent on the teacher for self-growth (Bethel University, 2013). Andragogy is self-directed meaning you help push yourself to learn (Bethel University, 2013). Both of these learning methods are good but, Andragogy I believe is good for an online environment. When you push yourself to learn and you're not directly attached to a teacher you feel more responsible for your education.
