The first car that was ever ran by an engine was produced in 1885. Without automotive engineers there would be no progression in the automotive industry. Throughout the years automotive engineering has improved and new technology has advanced the ways in which automotive engineers consider the historical background, the educational requirements, the work environment, the duties and responsibilities, the wages and benefits, and the potential for advancement of an automotive engineer.

Almost all automotive engineers will be around safety systems, emission systems, engines and power systems (Automotive Engineer Career Information 1). Automotive engineers will work on noise reduction and harshness if they choose to work in the quality control field. If an automotive engineer decides to work on systems, they will be designing major on-board electrical and mechanical systems (1).
Automotive engineers have may duties and responsibilities. If an automotive engineer overlooks one little detail he could seriously injure or kill someone. Most automotive engineers will also be able to take off for holidays and have many retirement benefits (1). In some job areas an employer might offer profit sharing. Disability insurance and education assistance is also given if one needs it. Some engineers might not be able to work full hours so certain employers will give one a flexible schedule (1). An automotive engineer will make an average of $40.17 an hour. This will average out to be around $83,550 a year. The more experience or education one has the higher the pay will be and the more one will make in a year (Salary 1). The lower ten percent will start with a pay of $24.68 an hour and the higher ten percent will have an average pay of $57.67 an hour. The higher ten percent will receive around $119,950 per year, while the lower ten percent will receive 51,340 per year (1).
