When someone asks me what I want to be when I grow up, I say that I do not know, but I do know. At a very young age, I discovered my passion for the field of medicine. Growing up, my parents were very sick, and even though they would not admit it, I could tell they were constantly in pain. My father had diabetes and my mother chronic arthritis. I hated to see them suffer and promised myself that one day I would help them. After my older brother went into nursing, he began to help people like my parents; I knew that was what I wanted to do one day. I wanted to make people feel better just like he did, and I am doing everything I can to make my dreams a reality. Right now my plan is to graduate from high school as a Certified Nurse Assistant and go to college while working part-time in the Intensive Care Unit. I plan on earning a degree as a Registered Nurse and then apply for the CRNA Program to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). However, all of this will take money. Money that I do not have, therefore, I am taking all the measurements necessary to plan and prepare for the scholarship applications process. I am currently enrolled in a Health Occupations class to better familiarize myself with the field of nursing. I am taking the most rigorous classes available to me at my local high-school while working a part-time job cleaning tables at a local restaurant to help support my family. I am also ranked with the fourth highest grade point average in my class of one hundred and forty-seven juniors, and I am part of several clubs and organizations such as National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Junior Leadership, Future Business Leaders of America, and several others. Being president of my class for seve... ... middle of paper ... ...and I work very hard to keep us moving forward. I try to be balanced, but it is very difficult for me. I need to work for what I want, for what I need. If I am to accomplish my dream of attending college, I can’t rest until I get to where I need to be. When I heard about this amazing opportunity, I was thrilled. I am particularly attracted to this summer program because of the institution’s excellent reputation, vast academic program, and the chance to train myself for college. It excites me to think I could experience college life at one of my favorite colleges. I have been on a tour of the campus and I absolutely loved it there! I have longed to find an opportunity such as this one! I believe that this program would be a big step towards achieving my goals. I really hope you will consider my application, and I thank you for your time and consideration.
