Autism Spectrum Disorder is a serious matter in the US. There are several people who have this mental disorder. Autism isn’t something to joke about or make fun of. It’s a disorder that is most common than any other mental disorder. I see a lot of people who get bullied because they are Autistic. People really don’t understand how serious this disorder truly is. If Autism isn’t something you know about, I’m here to tell you all about it.
“What is Autism?” Many people may ask. Well Autism, or ASD, is a mental condition that develops early in a child’s life that makes it difficult socializing and building relationships. This disorder can cause a difficulty in learning. Since they have a hard time communicating verbally, they won’t ask for help, and will start to slack. Although they might not be perfect in learning, an Autistic person usually excels in visual skills, music, art, and math. 1 of 68 children have some sort of case of Autism. 1 of 42 are boys, and 1 of 189 are girls with Autism. That makes 3 million individuals in America who have Autism. The amount of people with Autism increases each year by between 10-17%.
People may wonder, ‘What causes Autism?’ You can never truly know. There is no cause of Autism, since there isn’t only one type. Autism is caused by the genetics. You can never really know if your child will have Autism. For example, if someone in your distant family has Autism, there’s a possible chance your child will have it too. Since so far in society has several people with Autism, it’s almost a 50% chance.
Even if your child were to have Autism, he/she could still be special in their own way. Every child with Autism deserves the same kind of treatment that every other child gets, but they need more help. They need a push into the ‘real world’.
