In India, one of the greatest rulers is now being put on trial. His name is Asoka, and he is currently remembered as a wise king, but some scholars believe there is some evidence to argue with that. They say that he was a merciless vanquisher. Now historians have a question, was Asoka an enlightened ruler or a ruthless conqueror? In my opinion, although Asoka might have made a few mistakes, he always put his country first, was a dedicated ruler, and he was very conscious of his mistakes.
Asoka ruled from 268 BCE to 232 BCE, and he was very selfless. In his Rock Edict 2, he says that medicinal herbs should be planted “Whether useful to man or beast,” as said document D. Also, when Asoka conquered Kalinga, he helped India’s economy. Kalinga stood
in the way of the southern routes of the Ganges valley, and the land was a powerful maritime area, which gave India a lot of money. Finally, while Asoka was seeking enlightenment after he conquered Kalinga, he gave rich gifts to the poor. Throughout his short rule, he was a dedicated monarch. As said in document F, “This astonishing ruler, beloved still in India, and in many other parts of Asia, devoted himself to the spread of Buddha’s teachings, to the righteousness and goodwill, and to the public works for the good of the people.” That is Nehru speaking, who served as India’s first prime minister. Also, Asoka met with communities to make his government better. To add on to that, Asoka made 33 edicts, carved in stone! After Asoka had the Kalingan, he was very conscious of all the lives he had ended, and converted to Buddhism*. Michael Wood, a historian, says, “[It was] a rejection of the path of violence,” in document C. Even, in Rock Edict 13 he says that the death of the kalingans “weighs heavily” on his mind. There is more evidence every day to suggest that either argument is true. Although both arguments are strong, I strongly believe the argument that Asoka was an enlightened ruler outweighs the counter argument. Asoka was a very wise, selfless, dedicated, and conscious leader
From 1754-1763, Britain fought the French and Indian war. Although Britain had won the war, they still had a lot of war debts to pay off. Britain turned to the colonies to pay off their debts by taxing them. The taxes angered the colonists because they believed it violated their rights. Benjamin Franklin had initially proposed the Albany plan of Union to unite the colonies, however this law was rejected by all of the colonial governments. It wasn't until after all of the British laws and taxes that the colonies would unite and write the Declaration of Independence.
The Revised Children’s Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS-2) is a revision of the Children’s Manifest Anxiety Scale (CMAS) created by Cecil Reynolds and Bert Richmond in 1985 (Reynolds & Richmond, 2008). The RCMAS-2 includes an updated standardization sample, improved psychometrics, and broadened content (Reynolds & Richmond, 2008). Although these revisions occurred, the brevity, elementary reading level, and content-based item clusters were retained, offering an updated and effective tool for understanding and treating anxiety in school-aged children (Reynolds & Richmond, 2008).
Asoka was a ruler of Ancient India and has done evil, but good things, so would you think he is a ruthless conqueror or an enlightened ruler? Asoka had been a ruler in 268 BC. He had conquered an emperor, Kalinga. During the war, he had killed many people. Because he felt a great crisis, he decided to seek enlightenment. After seeking enlightenment with a buddhist monk, he helped his citizens. Because Asoka was remorse after the killings of many people, he helped the poor, and spread the Buddha’s beliefs while still honoring the traditions of the Hindu religion in India, proving Asoka really was an enlightened ruler.
During the 1700’s the Britain Colonist decided to declare war against Great Britain. The war began due to friction between the British colonists over the King's policies. The colonist eventually lost their patience and started a revolution. High taxes, and no religious freedom led the colonist to fight for self government.
Asoka, an emperor born in 304 BC, earns the title as an “enlightened ruler.” He guarded his citizens during the Conquest of Kalinga by teaching them how to properly govern, and conquer land non-aggressively, which helped them become a conjoined country. During his reign, he did few malevolent things but he surpassed them with the positive deeds. Some of those accomplishments included providing services for the men he murdered, allowing the citizens who were to be killed to speak with their family, and laboring hard for his people and their futures.

The relationships of the Axumite Empire with the world outside its borders was almost entirely based on trade and military conquest. The key location of Axum in the horn of Africa, which is now Ethiopia, near The Red Sea and the Indian Sea made Axum one of the most important trading posts of the time. In the documents “The Periplus of the Erythraen Sea”, “The Christian Topography” by Cosmas and “Inscription on a Stone Throne” The authors describe different features of the trading practices and military campaigns of Axum that had a significant impact in the neighboring empires. From the grandeur of the Axumite port Adulis and the products that were available for import and export. To how they conducted the trading of materials and resources for gold with the neighboring African peoples. And military conquests that expanded the wealth of Axum.
The 1960s was a period well remembered for all the civil rights movements that occurred during that time frame and the impact these movements had on the social and political dynamics of the United States. The three largest movements that were striving in the 1960s were the African American civil rights movement, the New Left movement and the feminist movement. These three movements were in a lot of ways influenced by each other and were very similar in terms of their goals and strategies. However, within each of these movements there were divisions in the way they tried to approach the issues they were fighting against. Looking at each of these movements individually will reveal the relationship they all share as well as the changes that were brought forth as a result of each groups actions.

Aristoteles’s “Theory of Tragedy” suggests that the tragic flaw in Sophocles’ play Oedipus is the King’s “self-destructive actions taken in blindness,” but a worse flaw is his arrogance. There are a few opposing views that stray from Oedipus being fully arrogant. First is that he took actions to save himself from further pain. Second, by putting himself in charge was the right thing to do as the leader of his people. Third, Oedipus never tried to outwit the gods but used the prophecy as a warning to leave Corinth.
Asoka was one of the greatest rulers of ancient India. He was the grandson of Chandragupta Maurya of Magadha who established the first Indian empire. Chandragupta reigned for twenty-four years before relinquishing his throne in favor of his son, Bundusara (Asoka’s father), who left no noticeable mark upon the empire. Asoka was born in 304 B.C. and was known in his youth as Canda Asoka (the fierce Asoka) because of his aggressive nature.
When I found out I qualified to be a candidate for the NJHS, I knew I had to take this chance. This group is made up of people who depict leadership, character, citizenship, academic success, and service and I would love to join. These characteristics wouldn't just be valuable for a candidate to have, but for everyone to have to exceed in life. If I were to be in the National Junior Honor Society, it would give me an opportunity to ameliorate my future and motivate me to do better.

Boyka Undisputed 4 is a most recent film in the 'Boyka' boxer, filmed in Bulgaria. The writers, Boaz Davidson and David N. White, made the story of Boyka the film's main character, as one of the greatest fighters known in the region. The film was directed by Todor Chapkanov who crafted the hard-action film with a strong spiritual undertone to the movie. The storyline is the famed Yuri Boyka (played by Scott Adkins) going on in life, taking his boxing and professional fighting status for granted. Boyka, however, is devoted to donating things to the priest in the Catholic church. The storyline captures how Boyka's entire life was changed, just at the point when he is shooting for the respectability of fighting in the big leagues.
