Standing 5ft 10 inches tall, with a professional record of 39 wins, 30 by way of knockouts, and only 6 defeats, he won the 1992 Olympic gold medal at the Barcelona summer games, and voted the 1995 “Fighter of the Year” by The Ring magazine. He was the top-rated pound for pound fighter in 1997 and 1998. He has defeated 17 world champions in his career and has amassed an amazing 10 world titles in 6 different weight divisions. He is the fighting pride of East L.A., ”El Nino De Oro” ,the one, the only “The Golden Boy” ,Oscar De La Hoya. Oscar De La Hoya is known all around the world as one of the greatest boxers to ever enter the squared circle but his victories outside the ring as an entrepreneur match or exceed his boxing prowess.
Oscar De La Hoya was born on February 4, 1973 in Montebello, East Los Angeles, California. His parents were Mexican immigrants who moved to the U.S. a few months before Oscar was born. His father Joel De La Hoya Sr. was a warehouse clerk at a heating and cooling company and his mother Cecilia was a seamstress by trade. Oscar had two siblings an older brother named Joel Jr. and a younger sister named Ceci. Boxing was in De la Hoyas blood, it was a family tradition, his paternal grandfather Vicente, had been an amateur boxer in Mexico and his father been a professional boxer himself. At the tender age of 6 his father began to train him and he would often have fights with other young neighborhood boys. By the time Oscar was 11 he was participating and winning in several competitions, at 15 he won his first National Junior Boxing title and the following year he became National Golden Gloves champion.

From a young boy growing up poor in East L.A, to an Olympic Gold Medalist, to a World Champion 10 times over, to a highly successful businessman Oscar De La Hoya not only prospered but thrived in anything he chose to partake in.
