Many students would rather spend 3 minutes typing into a search bar than 3 hours writing an essay. They take this chance of receiving no credit for assignments instead of putting in the time to complete them. Artificial Intelligence is a very tough subject to argue about, as it is a very powerful tool. It can be very beneficial and harmful at the same time. Because of the program’s simplicity, accessibility, and convenience, students have been using it to generate answers to homework and even entire essays, claiming the chatbot’s writing as their own.”(Source B) These students who are using Artificial Intelligence to complete homework assignments are losing out on developing critical skills that need to be taught. This quote continues to bring up the concern with the programs, “simplicity, accessibility, and convenience”. The program makes it an appealing option for students looking for a quick and easy solution to academic obstacles. While these attributes may seem beneficial, they can very quickly lead to over-reliance on AI tools. No. Students are going to use AI and not continue to use it as it makes their lives so much easier but prevents them from developing key thinking skills. With the evidence presented from Sources B and H, it is reasonable to predict that our future society will have trouble with critical thinking as they can result in AI tools to help them when trying to develop the skills needed. Next, the use of AI in schools creates a clear threat to academic integrity. Yes, students can use AI as a tool to show them examples or teach them something, but why would they when it can do their work for them?
