If someone has ever wondered how a boy genius and a female elf officer might interact, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer is the book which can answer this and other questions. When one first notices this book, they may, perhaps, think it will be about the Greek Goddess Artemis in disguise. However, it is actually about a criminal boy genius demanding gold via a hostage situation. Artemis Fowl is an enjoyable action-packed read because it has great characters, an interesting plot, and it blends fantasy and sci-fi with reality. But someone may say they don´t like it because of liking fantasy or sci-fi, shifting of perspectives, and non-relatable characters. It is a novel which has the potential to appeal to many different types of readers with its diverse and awesome characters.

One such argument could be, “What if I don’t like the shift of perspectives among the characters?” A counter-argument would be the change of perspectives is well executed and it is clear what is happening during the course of the storyline. Another argument might be, “What if I don’t like fantasy and sci-fi?” A strong response to this would be how the story has a good blend of both genres and it feels believable due to the realistic characters. One more argument could be, “The characters don’t appear relatable to me.” What one could say to this argument would be how most of the characters are relatable in some way. For example, Artemis is dependent on Butler and many people are dependent on their parents. In addition, Holly is inexperienced and is facing new challenges. People may have experienced this, too, when they are told to do something unfamiliar to them. Most arguments made about this book can be easily downplayed or proven
