Introduction 100 words How do Silvey and Moorhouse use narrative conventions to connect with the audience? The novel ‘Jasper Jones’ written by Craig Silvey and the film ‘Dressmaker’ directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse have connected to the audience in very similar ways. The main ways that they have done this is through plot, characteristics and setting. By looking into each of these conventions it will widen the knowledge and have deeper in-depth on how authors and directors use them. The atmosphere between the two scenarios is very similar with the crowds cheering, the audience can relate to their own experience at a similar sport event. One of the main plots is revenge between the two because Tilly Dunnage wants revenge on the townspeople and jasper Jones wants revenge for whoever killed Laura. Another plot that is similar is murder, Eliza Wishart death and Stuart Pettyman death being the main drive for both texts. Another plot that most audiences can’t connect with is Small towns, simply because most people grew up in similar conditions and environments. In both texts the main characters from both texts had a secret little area that they use to goto, like jasper Jones grove by the river. Then Barney and teddy’s chill are on top of the silos.
