Art is freedom of expression, so why remove freedom from kids?

Art has been to be a part of human culture for an estimated 40,800 years; why cut out of schools what has been with us for so long? Art is a form expressive freedom, an outlet to allow creative ideas to form and be expressed, seen, or heard. Children at a young age need a creative outlet to express themselves, to allow themselves to grow. Cutting children off access from art could lead to poor self-esteem and creative conflicts for future development of the youth. Denying students at school art classes is the same as denying freedom of expression in a public society. Art classes should be supported by the school(s) local communities because the course is now endanger of being cut all together.
Lately, due to some poor test grades, low academic averages, and low cost, a large majority of the extra-curricular class course are being slimed, if not removed completely, from many low-budget schools. Music, physical education, and art are all endanger of being eliminated from. Art in particular is being targeted and is often the one class that gets cut immediately. “”The greatest concern [he] hears from superintendents “is the ability to provide a quality liberal arts education….” Some have lost — and others are afraid of losing — music, art and physical education at the elementary level””, said executive director of the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents, John Ellis (12 School cut-back). The courses need to be saved, but the effort that is being done will not be enough help.
However, there is a beneficial effect towards cutting these extracurricular based courses, more money for everything else. The extra funds from cutting art courses can go to programs to help students at-risk or already considering to dropping out. ...

...ng away, it must be stopped. The local school communities must stand together and prevent these classes from disappearing. Go to the school boards and stand for creative-freedom, make them understand that art is not a distraction, but instead should be given the utmost respect and attention. Art is a beautiful study, it allows the students creative concepts to be manifested into a true idea, this must not be taken away from them; stand up for the children and their future.
