What is art? It is an expression of human emotions and creativity. This can be through varies forms such as writings, sculptures, and paintings. Although, not everything is considered art. There is a defining line between what is art and what is not. For it to be art, it must go through three steps. They are: thought process of the artist, artists process of construction, self-evaluation, and critical reception. Which, are all art forms within themselves.
The thought process is a major step in art and which is often over looked. The thought process is not simply stating that you are going to draw an apple then proceed to draw it; it’s a feeling or emotion you have beforehand. The artist has to think through the emotion and cannot be spare of the moment. The artist has their own process in their mind how they will execute the piece of art from start to finish. An example of what would not be considered art, because it goes against this process, would be “scribbles” by a 22-month old child. The reason being, a child of that age does not have the capacity to think through their emotions. They see a piece of paper, or sometimes a wall, and scrawl away. Many musical artists, think through their emotions before writing a

If the emotions change during the creation, the artist must work with the new emotions. The new emotions will distinctly show up on the creation. For it to truly be art, the piece needs to be an accurate portrayal of what the artist is feeling. A great example would be Edgar Allen Poe’s poems. They are all an accurate portrayal of what he was feeling. As most people know, Poe was very depressed at times and it comes across in his writings. “By a route obscure and lonely, Haunted by ill angels only, Where an Eidolon, named NIGHT, On a black throne reigns upright…” This was an excerpt from his short story called “The Murders in the Rue
It is art fulfilling its role in society. It is art that brings the moral issues. It is art that makes us human.
If I were to ask you what is art, and how can one find it? What would you say? Well if it were me being asked those question, I would simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design and it could be found all among us. You may define it differently only because art could be defined in many ways. I could simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design. Well according to an article written by Shelley Esaak, an art history expert she mentioned that art has a way of stimulating different parts of our brains to make us laugh or incite us to riot, with a whole gamut of emotions in between. She also mentioned that art gives us a way to be creative and express ourselves. [1]
Art by definition is the conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, movements, or other elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty, specifically the production of the beautiful in a graphic or plastic medium. Whether it was shown visually or musically, the arts of the twenties were reflective of the time period. Even in books, the extravagance that people lived in was evident.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, art is “human expression of objects by painting, etc” (10). The words “human experience” adds meaning to art. Artists reveal their inner thoughts and feelings through their work. When we study a painting by Salvador Dali, the strange objects and the surrealist background portrays the eccentricity of the painter. Some ideas cannot be explained verbally. They can only be shown via a medium. We can get across what is in our minds or our hearts by a stroke of a brush, a drop of paint, a row of words, or something else. But to express ourselves, we do not need to limit what we call art.
AA theory by Clive Bell suggests the pinpoints the exact characteristic which makes a work true art. According to Bell, an artwork must produce “aesthetic emotion” (365). This aesthetic emotion is drawn from the form and formality of an artwork rather than whether or not it is aesthetically pleasing or how well it imitates what it is trying to depict. The relation of objects to each other, the colors used, and the qualities of the lines are seemingly more important than what emotion or idea the artwork is trying to provoke. Regardless of whether or not the artwork is a true imitation of certain emotions, ideals, or images, it cannot be true art unless it conjures this aesthetic emotion related to formality (367).
Art is an expression of feelings, body language, and culture produced by humans. Art can be expressed in many different ways, and in many different forms from time to time! You’d be amazed with the different types of skilled work artists come up with each day and it’s all just someone, one person expressing how they feel or what they believe. One form of art that I find very interesting is Fauvism.
Art in its broader meaning, however, involves both skill and creative imagination in a musical, literary, visual, or performance context. Art provides the person or people who produce it and the community that observes it with an experience that might be aesthetic, emotional, intellectual, or a combination of these qualities.
From Mark Twain to Vincent van Gogh, each genre of art comes with its greatest master. There are many compelling arguments to why this specific artist, musician or writer is the best in their category. In modern days, we don’t have a Mozart, or a Hemingway or even an Andy Warhol. There are many good artists of their own kind and many more are emerging thanks to new technology and new forms of media art. However, many arguments are made as to why these forms of art aren’t considered true forms of art. A few years back and even today, many argue that digital paintings aren’t real art so it is not surprising when people don’t think of a video game as an art form, but it is. The world is at constant change and so is art.
Art is an expressive form of creativity and expression. Art involves the basic elements and principles that aid to form paintings, sculptures, and other forms of artwork.
Art draws on the expression of self; artist gradually started to integrate themselves into their art. I myself am a visual student; being able to physically see something can dramatically increase my comprehension and viewpoint. The arts revolve around us recalling on our sense perception such as
Memory is a portal to the moments gone by; events that cannot be recreated, but are capable of initiating responses that trigger emotions. Life these days, moves at lightening speed leaving in its wake a tangled past, to recall which, can be a formidable task. However, in the field of art, there are a few bold troopers who dig into the past passionately, to recreate some of the wondrous moments of their lives. Aqsa Shakil, an ardent globe-trotter, is an artist who is pinned to the idea of visually archiving memories associated with her personal life, voyages and sojourns. As a consequence, Shakil continues to recapture moments that touch her the most.
The mind creates the emotions and ideals responsible for art. The brain is capable of imagining glorious things, and art is the physical manifestation of these ideals. These ideals are usually intense emotions with aesthetic power (Wilson, 220). Art organizes these emotions in a matter that can easily express the ideals to...
I circle around my easel, the subtle odor of turpenoid permeating the air. Instinctively, I begin to glide my brush across the textured canvas, transfixed as the vivid colors diffuse within each other, waltzing across the canvas and concentrating within the minuscule divots of its surface. My worries disintegrate and my mind untangles. Art has always been my "thing".
So to answer the question you need to think what is art? To me art is a form of representing a person’s ideas which can be in any form of media whether it be a painting, a film, or a song, a novel or a photograph. For it to be classed as art though it must provoke emotion or thought and show signs of creativity.
Artist way of thought is different than the average designer. Artists usually try to develop a work of art with the intention of bringing an emotion viewpoint, instinctive feeling, and or state of mind. If someone has visible talent in the art field, it usually comes down to a natural born ability. When dealing with artist you have to understand their mentality. The artist mentality comes down to the artistic skills and abilities that the artist is born with. Everything the artist creates flows out naturally from their abilities they were born with and not just their abilities that they were trained...
