Aristotle 's Theory Of Knowledge

Throughout this class I have come to learn that my views best match up with that of an empiricist, and that of a virtue ethicist. I found that all the theories were interesting and had many good points, and many flaws. A philosopher who holds both of the views I agree most with is Aristotle.
There are many theories concerning epistemology, the theory of knowledge all with good points. Aristotle 's theory of knowledge falls under the category of empiricism, but has its own take. He agrees that a posteriori clams are necessary for the sciences, and that knowledge can be gained through experience. Through sense perception one can build an understanding of the world. He talks about how perception comes from memories and memories come from experience, and experience is what is needed to have a grasp of the theories on which science is based. This first principle of science is where true intellectual understanding comes from. One thing that makes Aristotle’s theory of knowledge slightly different is instead of completely dismissing any deductive logic he sees it as a tool which can make important, yet incomplete contributions to science. He sees it as incomplete because science creates arguments in which deductive logic cannot be used. Aristotle dismisses that inductive logic can be circular by simply saying that something is the case if it is the case. He holds the view that if all knowledge must be something that can be demonstrated, and all demonstration comes from what is able to be understood, then the process goes on indefinitely or until it reaches an undemonstrated first principle which is known (Shields 2015).
Many of my Oakie assignments agreed with Aristotle 's beliefs about empiricism. I agreed that through demonstration ...

I believed that the umpire could have made a mistake since it was so clear to others. I thought she should tell her therapist about her roommate because in that context no harm would come from it. Isa shouldn’t get a raise because he didn 't go above and beyond. C-3poakie was not a better role model as it didn’t have to deal with emotions. I disagreed with Aristotle 's virtue ethics in some assignments and leaned toward deontology. I thought connecting to the wifi was wrong as it’s illegal to steal even if it hurts no one. They shouldn’t resort to illegal means to rid of the drifters because it’s illegal. I also had one ultimatism belief I thought Oakie did deserve praise as even though she didn’t know she still saved lives killing a terrorist.
