If you asked someone who their hero was, most likely they would respond with their mom, dad, grandpa, or aunt. In the books, a hero is defined as; a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. That being said, I feel like a hero shouldn’t be someone you see on a daily basis. What’s so outstanding about that? Wether it’s someone dead or famous, to me, a hero should be someone who is extraordinary. Maybe your mom or dad is extraordinary to you, but to me it should be someone more than that. Ariana Grande is a singer/actress who encourages me to follow my dreams, speaks out against bullying, donates to charities, and is extremely talented.
Now compared to the two mesmerizing Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, Ariana Grande had to slowly work her way to the top just like every other celebrity. Her career was sparked in 2008 by her role as Charlotte in the original Broadway cast of 13. That same year, Grande won a “National Youth Theater Association Award”. In 2011, she was signed to Universal Republic Records. Additionally, she debuted her first single, “Put Your Hearts Up.” It wasn’t until 2013 when she really excelled. In 2013, she released two music videos. One for “Put Your Hearts Up” and another for “The Way” featuring Mac Miller. “They Way”, released in march, sold over 219,000 units in it’s first opening week, making it the third best-selling sales figure of 2013. Furthermore, Ariana received the Best Newcomer at the 2013 Billboard Mid-Year Music Awards. On September 3rd, Grande released her first album Yours Truly. It immediately hit number one on the US charts, and broke records. As you can tell, Ariana Grande has made her effective mark in music very quickly.

With all the hate Ariana receives everyday, it’s admirable to know that she still finds time to be philanthropic.
In conclusion, Ariana is a fabulous role model, inspiration, and hero for young adults. She is constantly sticking up for others and herself. Her positive willingness to keep pushing to better herself and make all of her dreams a reality is a great reason for someone to call her their hero. Through everything, Grande is well for remaining level-headed and down to earth. Ariana Grande is an extraordinary, talented woman who I am certainly proud to call my hero.
