LGBTQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. These people struggle everyday because they identify a something other people disagree with. A few years ago same sex marriage was legalized but is still not respected by some people and states. Why would someone have a problem with someone else's relationship? Everyone should be able to love whomever they wish without others judgement and criticism. People should allow others to be who they are and they should stop going after people who are part of the LGBTQ community. They attack these people because of their religion, tradition, and what they are told. Some religious people say it is against what there god wanted or wants. For example, some christians say that it is not …show more content…
right for a man to love a man and a woman to love a woman, it should be woman and man. But in the bible it also states God loves everyone no matter what. This is just one religion and one example, there are many that are against it and therefore makes the people who believe in that religion against these people. The people in a certain religion can believe what they would like to believe in but should not take it out on other people. Some traditional people are against the LGBTQ community. They are against this new change because of how they were brought up or by what they were taught.
But these people need to realize that things are changing and it will continue to change because we are human and we change. There is more technology, better cars, acceptance, and more, we are changing for the better. So many people continually hear it is bad to be part of the LGBTQ community and other things that go against the LGBTQ community and since they have heard it so much, they believe it. Someone else's opinion is getting in the way of people making there own opinion on the situation. The pressure of the crowd gets them to turn against or for something so they can blend in. An example of this is at schools, people who are part of the LGBTQ community are often bullied or even shunned. People should not listen to the crowd and make their own decisions and opinions based off of their own beliefs and thoughts. People are against it because it goes against everything else they know. People are afraid of change because it opens up a window and anything could happen. The people who are not afraid and the people who change or accept who they are are criticized. This needs to stop, we need to accept the people who are accepting themselves and to accept the people who are
changing. Overall, people need to accept each other. Whether the person is gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, and/or transgender. It should matter that the person feels comfortable in their own skin and that they are happy. This is hard to do when people attack these people for who they are. Everyone needs to accept the change and be there for eachother and encourage each other, instead of beating each other down. "LGBTQ Initiative." Teach For America. N.p., 12 Apr. 2017. LGBTQIA stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual. The LGBTQIA topic is still an issue in society. There are people who are still against it. Some people in society still see this topic as a negative thing. The Stonewall riots was an important event for the LGBTQIA community. Stonewall is where the gay rights movement started. The transgender community is an important part of the LGBTQIA community. Same sex marriage was an important event that happened and impacted people of the community. The LGBTQIA community has many influential people like Laverne cox and Caitlyn Jenner. The L and G stands for lesbian and gay which means you are attracted to the same sex. The B stands for bisexual which means you are
If nobody judges others for what they do, this would be a much better place. People would be accepted. Everybody has their own beliefs, whether it’s religion or sexuality. I’m treated as an outsider because I am pansexual. I’m judged by the people that don’t think that’s normal. People are still people no matter what they think about something.
For years homosexuality in the United States of America has been looked down upon by citizens, religions, and even politicians. The homosexual culture, or the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender), has been demoralized and stuck out and lashed against by the Heterosexual community time and time again. To better understand the LGBT community we must first grasp the concept of Sexual Orientation.
As Fritsch et al. states, “even as ‘queer’ became an established identity in the LGBTQ rainbow acronym, it also worked against the normalization of gender and sexuality by challenging the presumption of a two-gender system” (336). A majority of the queer community had/have conflicting thoughts about whether the term queer must be used as a way to distinguish or rather alienate oneself with from binary system. Many of the people within the community don’t like to separate themselves, believing that by doing so will push them further away from society when in reality this will result in losing their loved ones and friends. Others argued that by doing so they break apart the binary structure and in order everyone in a sense is queer; there is no set standard for what normal is. Moreover, people believe that with trying to embrace and embody the term queer, there will be negative emotions and actions made towards them which puts them at an even higher risk of being victimized. Being in the center staged of the whole movement not only brings conflict but it can in the long run off put people from overall trying to identify with the queer movement or the term queer
...o them and that is being a human being. They have to always put down those who make the decision to love who they love and if that is, someone of the same sex then so be it, we are not
“Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment The same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins It 's human rights for everybody, there is no difference. Live on and be yourself ” Gay rights is very similar to what African Americans had dealt with during the civil rights movement. No one should deal with being discriminated for being themselves and what they were born to be and to not worry what people think and just be yourself and embrace it. “When I was at church they taught me something else If you preach hate at the service those words aren 't anointed That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned” In church instead of preaching about love and worshiping the word of God they preach hate. “When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen might not be the same, but that 's not important. No freedom 'til we 're equal, damn right I support it” Individuals that are attacked about people for being gay sometimes just take it because they don’t want confrontation and feel discomfort. Everyone should have
The number of gays and lesbians in the U.S. is estimated to be approximately 8.8 million (randomhistory.com) About thirty-three percent of Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender commit suicide each year. At least fifty-two percent self-harm (dosomethinng.com). Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender are mistreated and misunderstood. Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender are treated inhumanely which causes them to go into a deep depression, self-harm, or even commit suicide. LGBT are humans, not just some creature from another world (personal).
Transgender Today Nowadays, there are lot of unexpected changes coming in our lives every day which are challenging to our society. Gender issues are one of the hot topics among new changes. Transsexuality is a critical part of this gender issue. After reading the article “Night to his day” by Judith Lorber, I found a clarification regarding the social construction of gender. While looking for some facts about transgender, I have also found a lot of articles with different points of views from researchers, scientists and individuals who have transformed from their origin to transgender men/women.
Imagine that you had a job where you had to dress, look, and act a certain way but you didn 't like it and had no choice but to remain that way or your boss would get mad and fire you. It is obvious that one would not be happy being like this because it is not who one is but one is scared to go against it because one is afraid to face the consequences. This is about the same thing that transgender individual 's experience where they have not been allowed to become like the opposite sex because society does not allow it. Every individual is different and therefore not everyone will want to accept the sex that they were born with primarily because they feel that it is not the real them. These individuals cannot burst their bubble and demonstrate who they truly are because society is watching their every move and just waiting for the perfect opportunity to come out and punish them. This is supposed to be a free country and because it is the twenty-first century, people should to learn to live with change. I have learned that gender identity is the
There is a group of people who are only attracted to the same genders. They still haven’t been completely accepted and approved by society. The world regards them as abnormal; the Bible defines being homosexual as a sin. The homosexuals have been fighting for their right of being treated equally for many years, and so have some others who support and embrace ones who have different sexuality. Their only aspiration is to prove to the world that homosexuality is not a sin. There’s a great deal of factors resulting in homosexuality. And they all demonstrate that there’s nothing wrong with being a gay; instead, it’s just a different way to live a life.
As seen through the statistics, those who are homosexual are put down. These younger children have been taught to judge and hurt those who are “different”. These older opinions on the matter lead to drastic things such as suicide because those who love the same sex do not follow the “norm”.
The dictionary defines discrimination as the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or identified sex and sexual orientation. The term LGBT stands for, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. These terms refer to sexual orientation and also gender identity. Every day people of the LGBT community suffer wrongful terminations and oppression in their schools for their sexual orientation or identified gender.
Every day in our society we judge people because of how they act or how they choose to live their lives. Lots of gays and lesbians have to go threw people judging them and they still have to go threw it when they want to get a job. Sometimes it is harder for a homo
There are individuals that live in fear of showing their true identity to the world because they simply fear that society won’t accept them for having a different sexual orientation. Society advocates that individuals should be able to be proud of who they are, but yet they judge homosexuals for being different. People are taught not to judge others based on their race or religion, so why do they still discriminate against homosexuals? The homosexual subculture is not accepted by society, looked down upon, and misjudged; however, they are human beings and deserve to be treated equally.
Anti-Gay groups believe that homosexuals hold no right in our society. Hate groups often cite religion as the reason behind their actions and the source of their beliefs. Anti-Gay protest groups launch verbal and physical attacks on homosexuals creating hate posters that say “God hates fags”. Violent acts of hatred is not new to the world. Anti-gay groups believe that homosexuals are the root of all evil and unholy. Ide...
