There have been many speculations in regard to Donald Trump becoming a fascist leader for our country. By definition the term fascist means “A form of government, in which the country is considered more important than any one person, group, liberty, or provision. A country under this kind of government is usually run by a person called a leader, who has the right of total control over the government and people.” The most famous fascist leader in history, Benito Mussolini, who was also the creator of fascism, often gets compared to when deciding if a leader is fascist or not. Hyper-nationalism is one of the principal themes to fascism. While nationalists try to promote a strong government and national independence, another name for hyper-nationalists are extreme patriots. Hyper-nationalism is dangerous because it results in one nation thinking it can exterminate another nation because it is superior to the other nation. Well known socialist, George Orwell once said, “A patriot is someone who wants to defend his country, its culture and way of life whereas a nationalist is someone who wants to impose his country, culture and way of life. Patriotism is defensive, nationalism offensive.”(Orwell).Trump wants to invest his presidency in “Making America Great Again” by focusing on the United States and not worrying about foreign territory. Capitalism should be subordinate to the goals of the state so there is much regulation of capitalism in Fascism. Donald Trump is one of the richest people in the world because of his success in the capitalist economy aside from some anti-capitalist actions.Capitalism is the free exchange of products and services between producers and consumers where everyone benefits and individual rights are respected. Because those rights are respected, no force is used for any part of the exchange.Trump, therefore, is not a capitalist, because he is an advocate for using force to take people's property against their will through eminent domain.
