My essay is going to be about the four-day school week. The four-day school week is something that I do not approve of. There are a lot of pros and cons about it, but I decided that I am against it. The learning is no different other than ten minutes of class time. The attendance means you HAVE to be there every single day no matter what. I understand that it will save money for the school, but think about how the parents and staff think about it. Instead of sending the papers home with the children, they should have sent it through mail. The time will extend more than we are use too. This time will make us stay at the school for fifty-five minutes more than we are use too. They need to invest more money for the other schools. We honestly did NOT need the football stadium that big. I understand it was a bond issue, but they could have been a little more courteous to the other schools.
The parents of Catoosa students will have to change up their schedules for what the Board of Education did. Think of how the bus drivers, cafeteria staff, and also the janitors think about

this whole situation. Think about how the younger children’s parents about the daycare. They WILL NOT let a child go in for just one day. The daycare will cost a lot more. Longer school days will make all of the students tired. Teachers will have to teach a lesson in four days, instead of five days. The teachers will definitely be rushed on everything. The students of Catoosa Schools will be more stressed out then any other student in Roger’s County. Also, another thing to think about is to get rid of the Apple laptops. And they should put more money into the other schools. The other schools just look like crap. It lowers a lot of kids test scores, which is not good at all! The cost for the parents of Catoosa students will have more financial problems. Students will not pay attention more than they are now. There will be less hands on learning. Personally, I like the hands on learning. It helps me a lot more than you think. Sports will be longer than before. For example, I play softball for the school. We practice from 2:00 to at least 4:00 or 4:30. If you plan on doing this, please take this as a consideration. I get that we have more time to sleep, but mostly every single student will stay up on that night. Think about the kids that do bad things… They will have more time to do more than you think. More than likely, all of the bus drivers will quit and will find a better job, also with the cafeteria staff, and the janitors. If anything, I think we should go to a schedule like a college. Going to one class for three hours and taking classes that are important. Even my step dad, Wayne Eth, said “I think you guys should go to a college schedule honestly.” Why is this good for us kids?
We have more family time, time to fish and hunt, and also more time to work. But what I do not understand is why do not tell us what is going on with the school. Maybe, some parents would even volunteer to help the school out. Has the school even thought about that? Probably not. I am here to try and persuade you to be on my side of the school. I believe this would be the best for the school. Also, The Board of Education does not know what day they are going to do. It is ether going to be Mondays or Fridays. I personally think, if they go to a four day school week, Mondays. A lot of the parents are saying yes, and then a lot of parents are saying no. Plus, our grade for the school is D-. That right there is telling you NOT to do it. This will cause more frustration for students and they will not want to do the homework. They will want to relax more than
anything. In conclusion, I think everyone should be persuaded to my opinion. The four day school week is just ridiculous. If I was a parent of a Catoosa student, I would NOT let my child go to Catoosa anymore. I honestly think this would not be the best thing for the school. This is why I did not approve of the four day school week.
Students now have the opportunity to work another day to save for their future. The four-day school week also provides much more time for these children to spend and enjoy time with friends, and family, as well as enjoying extracurricular activities. There is a lovely environment for the children at the school and an extra day for the instructors to gain knowledge and a better understanding of their curriculum. The schools will be saving a varying amount of money that could be used in case of an emergency with money of any kind. Whether it is an emergency funding program, or money to fund an extracurricular activity. In conclusion, the four-day school week has proven itself to be a very effective form of education that Colby Public Schools most certainly should switch to within the coming
The other reason why we shouldn’t have a four school week is because students will have more time to get into trouble more.Half of high school and middle school students will get into drugs and crimes because they are unsupervised for a long time.If students get into crime and drugs at a young age they probably wouldn’t be able to get a job. Some of the students wouldn’t know it’s bad for them. The reason why is because some of the students don’t know it’s bad is because their parents or teachers haven’t told them about why it is bad.
Based on the article on The National Sleep Foundation, when it's time for school the average teen body still thinks it's the middle of the night.
Imagine students becoming stressed with the abundant amount of homework they have to accomplish, complaining about the lack of time and fun enjoyable tasks they have to leave out. Currently, District 211 has a five day school week but having a four day school week eradicates these problems, which could have a positive mental and physical effect. Currently, the four day school week is being used in more than 120 school districts across the country, in states including New Hampshire, Colorado, and New Mexico. Use of the four-day school week also extends to several provinces in Canada, France, and Britain. Considering the amount of districts that are executing a four day school week, it is most reasonable to assume that they have significant benefits towards both students and teachers.
Now days, normal American students go to school 5 days in a week. However, some places over the United States operate 4 days of school week system. Those school surprisingly observe positive changes. Therefore, American schools should operate 4 days of school week because schools can save their budget costs, and students can have more time to enjoy outdoor activities, pursue additional educational goals and improve academic achievement since students are in less stressful environment.
Does year-round school truly have a positive impact in the lives of students? Various studies have suggested that year round school is helpful. There are some disadvantages to this type of schooling that are preventing all schools from switching to this type of scheduling. In earlier times schools were only teaching throughout half of the year so that the school would be out of session when it was time to work in the fields. This type of scheduling is still common today, even though only a small portion of agriculture is tied into education and kids are no longer required to work. “In 1994, the National Education Commission on Time and Learning (1994) urged school districts to develop school calendars that acknowledged (a) differences in
All of the notebooks are off the shelf. The school bell rings in the morning.
If Springfield where to try this they would save money. The district would be saving money on food. You may be thinking will my child's grade suffer? No, Many schools have switched and grades were the same and students god better grades in math. Peach county and Georgia tried a four day school week and the only thing that happened was they saved money, test scores went up, less absences, and a higher graduation rate.
School should be four days a week with an extra hour added to each school day because it would save money for the school system, increase student motivation, stimulate the economy, and promote student achievement. There has been a decrease in education due to the small amount of resources, causing classrooms to be bigger and children not being able to extend their knowledge. Even though the economy has been falling, each school district has been working hard to promote student education, which could mean trading a traditional school schedule for a four-day school week. Replacing a normal school schedule for the four day school week can raise the school budget tremendously. (Hart, Demand Media).
Don't you hate waking up early for school in the morning? Most high school students wake up before the sun rises just to become ready for school. Teenage brains do not begin to function that early considering many are tired from staying up late the previous night. The National Sleep Foundation reported that most teens do not retain enough shuteye, one study found that only 15% reported sleeping eight 1/2 hours on school nights. That fact was extremely true for me when I attended high school. I barely was able to wake up, get dressed, and be in school on time since I was so tired. In my opinion school days should start later, precisely in between 9- 10 o'clock. If the school day started later attendance would improve, students will be more prepared, and student's attitudes and grades may improve.
Frida Giannini once said, “ The idea of ‘ferie,’ or summer break, is a long tradition of which of all Italians, including myself, participate. It’s a time to relax, reflect and recharge” This quote relates to this topic because imagine having to go to school all year round. Schools should not consider switching from a nine month calendar to a twelve month calendar for many reasons. One reason, is a money issue may be present for schools and families. Also, most students will lack or miss out on their social lives.
There are many opinions and studies about reforming school days. Some people are concerned that longer school days would bring more difficulties. However, there are numerous studies and practical examples that prove that we improve students’ performance by lengthening school days. Finally, the economy and our society will benefit from expanding school days.
The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day. I disagree with this decision because it’s cutting into dinner time with families , our little siblings need help getting into the house, and it will cut our sleep time down for school in the morning .
The extra day of classes would cut down on work days for students. Saturday classes would also mean one less day of rest for both students and teachers alike. & nbsp; Less time with a family could lower a student's grade point average. For some students Saturday is the only time they can see family. This would be true for students whose parents are divorced or who both work Monday through Friday. Not seeing family could lead to a bad attitude or severe depression. Some students have close relationships with their parents and want or need to spend time with their parents. A student with a bad attitude or severe depression cannot learn well and perform well in class. Not being able to learn well will not bring an already low education level up. & nbsp; The extra day of school would cut down on work days for students. A cut-down on work hours during the weekend could influence a student to work more late-night hours to earn money. for car payments or college funds. That would create a very tired, unprepared student. That student, in turn, will not do well with school work. The extra day of school would take away from any other job a teacher may have. Some teachers have additional jobs to earn extra money. Less time to work another job could create a bad attitude. A teacher with a bad attitude will not be able to teach effectively. & nbsp; One extra day of school cuts into precious relaxation time for students and teachers alike. Just one day may not sound like a lot; but, for a busy student, it could mean the difference between an A and a B. That one extra day of rest can change an attitude easily. With one day of rest and one more day to do homework, a student can have time to avoid a jam-packed schedule for a day.
As I started to advance into my high school education, I noticed that my attitude about school and grades was not going to get me anywhere. I went to school and goofed off with my friends and did enough work to get a decent 70 on my work and go home. I had no “active responsibility”, as Freire would say, because I didn’t have anything to motivate me to want to do well. It all changed when I started high school at Bear Grass Charter School. Bear Grass had just reopened as a charter school my freshman year. I was a new beginning for me because not only was I starting out at a new school, but I started to realize that I needed to improve my self-effort in my classes. I knew that I wanted to be a nurse when I graduated and I
