It is often easy in a chaos filled world to overlook small complications, but our society has ignored one large-scale problem that damages much of the worlds' population. Specifically, in the United States mental illness is often seen as taboo and causes a fierce judgement among people. It seen as something people claim to have just for attention, however it is a very real problem. If you cure the United States of mental diseases it would be beneficial to the country, and make it a stronger, safer, and more unified place. There is a crisis for psychiatric care programs, yet there are very few sources of help for people that cannot afford out of pocket therapy. The lack of funding for programs to aid mental illness needs to be changed. Insurance could pay for therapy, and more free programs dedicated to mental health could be created. Even lowering the cost of therapy programs and sessions would significantly help in providing mental care.
Importantly, the United States has a law known as the Federal Parity Law, which requires that insurance pay for mental and behavioral treatment. This law has …show more content…

The first issue with money is how much it costs to go to school and become a psychologist. On average, annual school tuition for a master’s degree in clinical psychology is $8640 dollars in the state, and if someone goes outside of state the cost rises to around $20,000 dollars. If a person wants to obtain a doctorate degree the tuition in state rises to $11,000 dollars yearly, and for non-residents of the state tuition is $24,000 dollars on average per year. Those prices cause extreme debt and a need for high costing sessions and visits with psychologists. The debt must be paid through the patients visits. Psychologists would be able to charge less for their services if school tuition was lower, and therefore the overall access to mental wellness would be more easily
