Every week thousands of auto racers strap on their helmets to compete against each other. Each race is a new opportunity to show off their talent, their hard work, and their preparation. However in just a blink of an eye, it can all be destroyed because of a single crash. On June 5th 2006 at Tri-County Motor Speedway, that is exactly what transpired. The #68, driven by Josh Tester, was leading the race while the #17, driven by myself, was in tight pursuit. I tried multiple times to make the pass for the lead until the exit of turn two when I made contact with Josh’s back bumper. The contact sent his car around and made us both hit the wall. The impact was hard enough that it ended both of our races, costing us the $10,000 winner’s check. Under
Fred Feldman distinguishes two categories of hedonism: sensory hedonism and attitudinal hedonism. Both categories of hedonism center around the notion that pleasure is what makes a life worth living (for the person living that life). In other words, if one obtains (receives or acquires) pleasure from life, then one’s life is going well. Additionally, the more pleasure a life contains, the better the life (the more prudential value it contains). Feldman, however, promptly classifies two interpretations of pleasure: pleasure as feeling (sensory pleasure) and pleasure as an attitude (the attitude of enjoyment). And, it is the latter conception of pleasure (pleasure as an attitude/mental state) that Feldman is interested in.
When we look at the classic Car image, it reminds us of the experiences that surround our daily lives. The Classic Car image is in black and white which reminds us of the picture realities that held sway some decades ago. I do not readily understand all that transpired in the wreck of this car. However, some points are quite easy to note. It shows that the beauty of every vehicle is not just in its outward design but in its safety features. This shot was taken from one of the vehicles parked in the Alaska Car Museum. There are so many stories that surround the cars in this iconic location.
It’s May 5, 2012. It’s a Saturday night after a stressful week of school. It’s an ordinary spring day. We had been at Truman Lake on the water all day, looking forward to a great night of racing. The sun rose up, the heat was reaching the upper nineties, and conditions were beautiful for a night filled with racing. My uncle had box tickets to the Impact Night at Wheatland Speedway. My mom, dad, brother, and three of our family friends all piled into our seven passenger SUV to head down to Wheatland, MO. Little did we know what was in store. The races started off intense and every race had at least one wreck. After a long day, we were driving home. Exhausted, I had just dozed off on my mom’s shoulder when out of nowhere on Highway 83, we swerved off the road to avoid getting hit head-on by a drunk driver. Sliding every which way through the ditch, we hit a school bus sign; only feet away from guard rail. Thanks to my dad’s retired dirt track racing skills and someone watching over us, everyone in that car is alive today.
The ARDC argued that an accident in these conditions was not foreseeable. This was dismissed by the court, which held that accidents at a car racing event it is common for these things to occur, and as such held a duty of care to Metcalf. The court ruled in favour of
A Mark IV Toyota Supra and Chevy Camaro SS pull up at a red light on a lonesome stretch of flat road amongst a dimming blue sky; the drivers nod at one another, rev the engines, and jam the accelerator pedals. When two drivers try to outrace each other on public streets, automobile driving makes a turn into the illegal form of motor racing known as street racing. Several possible causes to this aggressive street driving include a recent release of movies that inspire racing by the desire to fulfill the adrenaline rush raging in young people, the overall convenience of street racing, and most importantly, a way for teenagers to achieve nobility status in a short a time.
A recent local car wreck happened on Interstate 59. There was a 2004 Honda Accord and a 2007 Altima. The people in the Honda Accord was Juan Pablo Roncallo (driver) and Logan G. Yates (passenger) both eighteen year olds and in the Altima was a twenty year old female. The Honda’s front left tire had a blowout, Juan Pablo was slow getting off the road, he got rammed from behind by the Altima because the driver was texting while driving. Once the impact...
Los Angeles, California is known worldwide to be a city designed specifically for the use of automobiles. Since Los Angeles County is so expansive, is considered to be one of the largest cities in the U.S and the World. The Government decided to accommodate its landscape very efficiently through the use of freeways by connecting each other from far distances into one by the use of intersections. On the other hand, since the landscape of Los Angeles was made specifically for cars, it has a horrible public transportation that people see car as a necessity rather than luxury. The government has done a magnificent job keeping
In 1890, the railroad took actions towards providing transportation but both whites and blacks. During that year, Louisiana passed a statue called the Separate Car Act. The Separate Car Act stated that all railway companies carrying passengers in their coaches in the state, shall provide equal but separate accommodations for the white, and colored races, by providing two or more passenger coaches for each passenger train, or by dividing the passenger coaches by a partition so as to secure separate accommodations. If you disobeyed this rule by sitting in the wrong spot, you would be written a twenty-five dollar fine or twenty days in jail. A group of blacks raised over three thousand dollars to challenge the act. They chose Homer Plessy, a
The term autonomous refers to the capability of acting independently, or having the freedom to do so. A self-driving car is an autonomous car, which has the ability to sense its environment and navigating without any human operations. These types of cars are built to make safe and smart decisions on the road. In the past years, automobile companies have begun to introduce advanced driver assistance systems that are capable of parking, switching lanes, and braking in case of an emergency on their own, without the driver’s assistance. Automated vehicles are capable of maneuvering through street traffic, as well as other natural and man-made obstacles along the way. Therefore, this technology might completely change the methods of transportation.
Imagine sitting at a stoplight in a Ford Focus and a Ferrari or a Lamborghini pulls up in the next lane. Does not one wonder how nice quality, and feel they have? With all the transmission problems and uncomfortable seats, one wonders why they are still driving an American car and not a Foreign one. Every brand has its own and unique car. While Foreign cars look dissimilar, they have that different and distinctive look, that makes them stand out and look exclusive and rare. Cars have been around since the late 1890’s, early 1900’s. The most popular car of old was the Ford Model T, it featured 20 horsepower, but only coming in the color black. Being the first high production car, it was widely requested all over the world. Soon after the Model T was shipped out and got looked at, Foreign countries started producing their own. These cars helped greatly, transporting troops and weapons long distances during the Second World War. Foreign cars are better than American cars due to their quality and efficiency. The car’s definition of what it means to be, their pros and cons, physical attributes, and American influence all contribute as well.
A large problem in America has always been racial issues and still continues to be prevalent in our society today. The United States likes to boast its reputation as a “melting-pot” as many cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds are mixed together, yet the country still continues to isolate individuals based on race. In the constitution, it says that everyone is supposed to have equal rights and liberties, yet after over 200 years, many minorities still struggle to obtain the same respect and equality that their white counterparts have always have. Laws should be created to enforce equality and justice for racial groups.
What Chevy did in the 2014 “Maddie” commercial, is brilliant. The various reasons Maddie is more effective than not, are abundant. If someone were to be watching that on live television, they would have no idea who the ad was for until the end. The effectiveness comes in its subtleness. There are multiple factors that must come into account while determining effect, but I’ll begin with the branding.
Race is real. Race must be real, at least its what society has taught and shown the public. It's very clear no person looks exactly the same. If you were to physically compare people, or peers, you will easily find that not one person exclusively shares the exact features as the next. Though you won't find everyone to look the same, some share dominant traits such as color.
Automatic Car Lessons Co-ordinating the clutch, gears and accelerator often make some individuals struggle. It also frequently leads them to stalling the car or bunny hoping down the road or the car rolls back. This experience makes learning to drive more tough, in addition to being frustrating and stressful. For many individuals, automatic driving lessons are a better option, since driving a manual vehicle is not for everyone.
There is an acronym out there that many people enjoy, yet some do not know what it stands for. NA stands for National Association because teams get together to race across the country. SC stands for Stock Car because it’s not bicycles we’re talking about. AR stands for Auto Racing because that’s what it is, isn’t it? NASCAR has been around for years, and it attracts many people of different backgrounds and interests. It’s an organization that sanctions many different auto races. and it includes three main series. Predominantly, the Sprint Cup Series presides over the other two, which are the Xfinity Series and the Camping World Truck Series. NASCAR is unequivocally an electrifying sport because every factor that plays into it makes it very unpredictable.
