There is an acronym out there that many people enjoy, yet some do not know what it stands for. NA stands for National Association because teams get together to race across the country. SC stands for Stock Car because it’s not bicycles we’re talking about. AR stands for Auto Racing because that’s what it is, isn’t it? NASCAR has been around for years, and it attracts many people of different backgrounds and interests. It’s an organization that sanctions many different auto races. and it includes three main series. Predominantly, the Sprint Cup Series presides over the other two, which are the Xfinity Series and the Camping World Truck Series. NASCAR is unequivocally an electrifying sport because every factor that plays into it makes it very unpredictable. …show more content…
Unlike football or basketball, the resultant possibilities are nearly unlimited.
Anything can happen in a NASCAR race, whether it would be a car slightly on fire or a first place win over a second placer that is a hundredth of a second away. There has even been wild animals that have sneaked onto the track while racing. This is what makes NASCAR great. It’s the unpredictability of the endless possibilities. There have been a few times where a stock car has actually been hoisted up aerodynamically and swung into the crowd; no one has died, however. So, the Sprint Cup races are comprised of forty-three drivers, most of which are on different teams. This gives each driver a sliver of a chance to win, making the race more exciting. The most renown teams are Hendrick Motorsports (HMS), Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), and Penske. Each driver gets associated with their own number, which eventually defines who they are. Also, each driver gets a crew chief who acts as the head coach and seven pit crew members who work on the car and refuel it during a pit stop. Racing teams also have sponsors who get to have their logo on the racecar and on the driver’s
jumpsuit. As the race draws near, the national anthem is played, and the drivers prepare to start up their engines. Often times, there are jets that fly over the track during the last few phrases of the anthem. Before the engines start up, the most famous words in motorsports must be proclaimed by the Grand Marshall. “Drivers, start your engines!” Then the crowd roars. It is only momentarily that the race will begin. The cars take a few pace laps behind the pace car, lined up two by twenty-one with one at the end to compose forty-three racecars. As the pace car heads to pit road, every driver eases on the gas pedal to accelerate across the starting line. The green flag is waved to start or restart the race. If a crash occurs at any time during the race, which is usually the most exciting part, the yellow flag is waved to signal a caution. The cars are slowed, and the pace car comes back out to retrieve the front of the pack. If major clean-up is necessary, or if weather rolls in, then the red flag is then waved. The cars stop in their tracks and the race is halted. If rain persists and will not let up after the race is halfway through, then the winner is announced based upon the first position. But, if it is just a caution, the drivers are able to turn onto pit road to refuel and change tires and possibly adjust the chassis, which is part of the internal framework of the vehicle. Drivers must be cognizant of the pit road speed because if they break the allowed speed, then they would receive a penalty. Usually when penalties are issued, the drivers must retreat to the end of the field before the restart. Nearing the end of the race, the situation intensifies, stress builds up, and tempers flare. The white flag is waved on the final lap, meaning if there is a wreck on that lap, then the race continues. The checkered flag ends the race, and whoever snatches it first becomes the race winner. In this sport, there is one winner and forty-two other losers.
Cody Higginbotham is an extreme race fan from Guntersville, Alabama. Cody has received many great opportunities over the last ten years. He got his first big break working on a message board (forum) for Jamie Mosley in 2003. “Jamie was driving a part time schedule in the #39 for Jay Robinson. He offered me an opportunity to work on a message board for him. I was only 12 years old at the time. I will admit that I was pretty nervous, but I was also excited about the great opportunity I received.” Cody received a second great opportunity to work with Venturini Motorsports in 2004. “Venturini Motorsports marketing/ PR Tom Venturini noticed me when Billy Venturini was still driving. He offered me an amazing opportunity to work on a message board (forum) for them at the end of 2004 until 2007.” Cody also worked on a message board (forum) for Brad Keselowski in 2005 - 2009, David Gilliland in 2006-2007, Burney Lamar in 2009, and JD Motorsports in 2008 - 2012. Cody received more amazing opportunities before and after he was finished working on message boards for race teams.
People who have participated in racing for the past century, have never been universally accepted as athletes. The drivers, especially those in the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) prove this misconception as incorrect with their intense training and stellar performances. Drivers on social media, assert that they are athletes, contradicting other sports stars who insist that they are not. The drivers in NASCAR and all forms of racing deserve to be given the respect of their fellow athletes in other sports. NASCAR drivers are seasoned athletes because of their training and tough race conditions that they encounter every week on the track.
As teams take on their its own personality. Most of NFL teams relies rely on assessment of the number of games won compared to the number lost during a season or over a number of years. Teams also can be classified according to that personality, or at least according to the personality perceived by fans and the press. With the classification of good, average and bad. The Tennessee Titans will be used to show the good team the Minnesota Vikings will represent the average and the Dallas Cowboys will fill the role of bad.
Days of Thunder, a 1990 box office classic, displays false information when it comes to the truth behind NASCAR. NASCAR is a professional based company and is headed by only the best. Its new penalty and regulation system and professionalism on and off the racetrack show the truth behind the character of NASCAR. The film Days of Thunder shows a false depiction of the company of NASCAR and prove to show that sometimes even Hollywood, can “get it wrong”.
Have you ever been to a horse race? Seeing the riders give their horses a pat and an apple after the race, people cheering for their horse as it runs rapidly to the finish line? Seems like a great time. But what happens to those horses after they are done their race. What happens to the people who gambled their family’s lives savings. All horse racing should be shut down due to the well being of the horses, the effects of gambling, and the lack of interest.
In the world of the multi-billion dollar racing industry, it is important for those involved to understand the factors that will determine successful racehorses. Racing supports people in their livelihoods, and successful horses result in a lot of money. Although it is universally accepted that the greatest factors that result in success for racehorses are breeding and training, I argue that other factors, such as experience, timing, and luck play a big role in their success as well.
Over the course of time. Street racing has been allowed in the main streets or highways with minimal surveillance or any consequences at all. It almost seemed like no one was taking action in what escalated into a huge problem this year of 2017. Luckily there is various ways to help minimize the negative affects it's having in these communities. A solution to what continues to concern many can be treated as a crime. As humans we know what's right from wrong and people tend to avoid situations that can be considered a crime. The seriousness of the consequences is what everyone fears, no one wants to have a bad record, they want to be “clean.”Another way this rebellious act can continue to decrease is by having strict life changing consequences, example if you get caught street racing then you will be charged with a conviction similar to a Dui.
In 1890, the railroad took actions towards providing transportation but both whites and blacks. During that year, Louisiana passed a statue called the Separate Car Act. The Separate Car Act stated that all railway companies carrying passengers in their coaches in the state, shall provide equal but separate accommodations for the white, and colored races, by providing two or more passenger coaches for each passenger train, or by dividing the passenger coaches by a partition so as to secure separate accommodations. If you disobeyed this rule by sitting in the wrong spot, you would be written a twenty-five dollar fine or twenty days in jail. A group of blacks raised over three thousand dollars to challenge the act. They chose Homer Plessy, a
The pit crew makes sure that everything is running great and smooth. Danica Patrick has one of the best pit crews in NASCAR. Fasty Mcangelskidburger , Patrick's crew chief, has trained some of the best of the best crews. “All my protege’s have went on to serve the best racers, they are the best of the best when it comes to how fast they can change the car's tires and give it gas. We have specific training rituals like seeing who can eat their burger the fastest, who can drink the most beer, and last one in the restaurant has to pay the tab. It takes a real racer to be in NASCAR and they always have a team behind
Many others argue that NASCAR requires no skill. To be a successful NASCAR driver it takes a huge amount of skill. Not just anyone can go out and drive a car 200 miles per hour, while inches from another car, lap after lap for up to five hours. It takes years of training to get to the level of professional NASCAR drivers. All NASCAR drivers have to be on the edge of their seat at all times.
Lawnmower racing is a sport that is gaining popularity among men, women, and even children. This addicting motor sport delivers the same adrenaline pumping excitement, as the usual car or motorcycle race does, but is less dangerous. A racing mower is also far less expensive than race cars or motocross bikes. It all started in Wisborough Green, West Sussex, England in 1973, when folks from the town started looking for less expensive alternatives to their traditional motor. They wanted a motor sport that everybody can participate too; and thus lawnmower racing was born.
As NASCAR becomes more involved in sustainability initiatives, NASCAR needs to promote their initiatives in a way that gives NASCAR a differential advantage with their target audience (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). One common way a marketer can demonstrate social responsibility is through programs designed to preserve and protect the natural environment (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). While maintaining the natural environment, sustainability allows the organization to improve the business strategies, economic sectors, work practices, technologies, and lifestyles (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Many organizations make contributions to sustainability by adopting eco-friendly business practices or supporting environmental initiatives (Ferrell & Hartline,
Although this article appeals to common sense the most, Paul-Mark’s claims are obvious with very good example to back those claims up. Readers get the full picture of what is really going down in the street racing scene and how the dangers continue to exist. Paul-Mark has strong appeals and emotions throughout this paper that keeps readers hooked the entire time.
When someone goes to a race track what they really want to see is the wrecks. They want to see a car flipping over or even catch on fire. Even though it might look awesome from the outside of the car, inside the car it's extremely dangerous. The community of auto racing is working altogether to create new innovations to make racing as safe as it can possibly be. Auto racing is becoming a safer sport with all of the new innovations introduced in the past couple of years including the caught fence, safety barrier, and Han's device.
There’s those perceptions where people think car enthusiasts like watching racing sports, this usually depends on what type of racing it is, such as NASCAR. There are plenty of more racing sports that are more intriguing than NASCAR, such as rally racing. The people who drive in rally races have incredible driving skills, they have to drive one hundred plus miles an hour and off road which can be very frightening and deadly. One mistake can lead to both drivers deaths, in order to avoid this, there’s the driver and the passenger helping out the driver by being his navigator. There’s track racing such as Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans where opponents have to fight their way to first on a predetermined track where drivers know how the track is, unlike rallycross.
